Re: Rayman 3 scores
I thought that's what you meant, my bad. The article doesn't mention it indeed, as a matter of fact I wrote this part and I don't remember checking several pairs of Lavicrafts. I used Cheat Engine for measurements though so this has to be correct for at least one of them.Cut wrote:maybe I'm just blind but I couldn't find anything like that. Re: Rayman 3 scores
In the annotations it says the exact health of a Lavomatrix is 8.75, this should be correct for TOTL part 2, but the others are tougher I rememberHunchman801 wrote:I thought that's what you meant, my bad. BTW, I googled for "Rayman Wiki" and found RayWiki at the very bottom. What a shame for this excellent source, isn't there any way to push this page?

Re: Rayman 3 scores
It's the fourth result for me (it depends on the Google version you're using), after Wikipedia and Wikia, which both have absolutely huge page ranks. I'm no SEO expert but MediaWiki should already be quite optimised in that regard, so except for adding some keywords in the meta tags I'm not too sure what else can be done.
I also wish the German wiki had more content, it's a shame given how big the German-speaking Rayman community used to be.

Re: Rayman 3 scores
I remember last time I searched for something about Rayman 2 and google always lead me to another Rayman-Wiki which was rather cheap (and crowded with adverts), no compare to RayWiki. But well, captialism^^Hunchman801 wrote:It's the fourth result for me (it depends on the Google version you're using), after Wikipedia and Wikia, which both have absolutely huge page ranks. Just out of interest, why is there a german Wiki although this community doesn't have a german forum?

But cheat engine is not available by using pure gameplay. That is the difference. They may both have the same effect, but the cause is what defines cheat vs. glitch. The glitch does require some effort, for a huge effect, but the effect also requires effort to get the combos. Your argument that it is no different from cheat engine is wrong, as cheat engine is not available using pure gameplay. Furthermore, you argued that you cannot tell the glitch from the cheat in the HoF, allowing cheaters to enter. That is right, but what is to stop people using a moonjump code instead of a launching glitch, or even gaining invincibility. It is clear that anyone who uses cheat engine could use it to cheat at any part of the game, not just as a replacement for the IPG, so I believe the hall of fame moderators already have a protocol for catching suspected cheaters, making your argument pointless.MandM81 wrote:Cut: You can make the exact same speach about the cheat engine. actually i read the raywiki article about combos, here's what I found:
...Objects 6 – 10: These objects will have their points doubled and added to the combo counter.
Objects 11 – 15: These objects will have their points tripled and added to the combo counter.
Objects 16 – 20: These objects will have their points quadrupled and added to the combo counter.
Objects: 21 – : These objects will have their points quintupled and added to the combo counter...
with that in mind always go for the green gem last, and always have a can (blue lasts longest, so its a good combo racker) if possible too!
Re: Rayman 3 scores
Ok, then let's try it out. We have seen it at work in TOTL part 2. Where else have you used it, that is, in which cut scenes have you made it work? Maybe we, or I, can make a video to show everyone.Cut wrote:Most of you seem like being too afraid to just show a little will to experience the gameplay with the IPG, but this can't be the right way, when we are trying to make an ultimate decision about the IPG.
Well, that's a relief at least. Thanks!RibShark wrote:But cheat engine is not available by using pure gameplay.
Re: Rayman 3 scores
Fully agree with this post. That's pretty much the point I've been making with regards to endogeneous and exogeneous techniques, or, in other words, glitches pre-existent within the game.RibShark wrote:But cheat engine is not available by using pure gameplay. I remember you once wrote to me about expanding the German Wiki, but things didn't work out because, at the time, we had like two active members in the German community. Just out of curiosity: when did you guys first start the Wiki?Hunchman801 wrote: I also wish the German wiki had more content, it's a shame given how big the German-speaking Rayman community used to be.

Re: Rayman 3 scores
We have quite a history with forums in other languages here. When PC was created in August 2003, we had a German section too, unfortunately it was extremely inactive (the other two sections being very lively due to people's huge discontent with the way the official forums were managed) and was deleted that same month. Retrospectively, it wouldn't have cost us much to keep it longer, but things went fast back then. We tried again with a Dutch section in July 2006, but it was deleted for the same reasons in May 2007. And finally, an Italian section was created in December 2009 and didn't make it past January 2010 due to inactivity again.Cut wrote:Just out of interest, why is there a german Wiki although this community doesn't have a german forum?
The Dutch forums probably failed because all Dutchies speak English anyway, and the Italian forums because of the size of the community (how many Italian Rayman fans have you met?). I'm not entirely sure about the German forums, but surely the key factor to Pirate-Community's success was its members, and in particular a handful of members who have brought great activity and/or high-quality discussions, as they attracted a lot more members, and unfortunately we never had any such people on the German side. CC helped me translate the forum names and other stuff to German back then, maybe he remembers and can think of other reasons things didn't work out. The fact that I didn't know a word of German back then probably didn't help, though the Italian forums have shown that speaking the language is not sufficient.
Truth is, we'd love to have a German section at PC, not just because it'd be cool to brush off my German but for the mere reason that it's always been our goal for PC to offer the best services to the largest amount of people within the Rayman fandom and beyond. But we've learnt from our mistakes and this could only happen if we had enough motivated people ready to keep it active!
In the past, I remember considering mergers to build upon existing communities, but except for Gigaman's forum that never happened. Not many targets and way too much ego.
Yes, it's a shame there weren't enough people. As for the wiki, it opened on January 4th 2008, and I think the German version was created on March 12th 2009.sfn42 wrote:I remember you once wrote to me about expanding the German Wiki, but things didn't work out because, at the time, we had like two active members in the German community. Re: Rayman 3 scores
As my method was especially developed for PC-Players, I recommend this for you in TOTL part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaWMNqH2ddQMandM81 wrote:Ok, then let's try it out. We also found an IPG in LOTLD part 2 using the SuperDive.
SuperDive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94MI6WvVaWY (Thanks to CriticalCyd)
IPG: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yn4OlPQv1r0 (sorry for the crappy camera, I guarantee better quality for my future videos)
As you see in the video, you use SuperDive to reach the final area of part 2. You kill both hoodlums, go back to the HMF and break the door. Normally, breaking the door would show you a cutscene introducing the Hoodiboo, but because both Hoodlums connected to the Hoodiboo are already dead, the game isn't able to play the cutscene properly. In the normal game, the game shows you another cutscene after killing the Hoodmongerns introducing the Hoodstylers, but as you see in the video, Rayman is already able to move when the Hoodstylers arrive in the arena (what you usually would see in the cutscene). Now it's clear what happens: you break the door, and the game wants you to show two cutscenes simultaneously, because for both cutscenes, the required trigger-conditions are fulfilled. Due to the missing hoodlums, the first cutscene quits/breaks just a few moments after it began and sets Rayman back into ingame mode, although there is still the second cutscene running in the background. Now you again created this glitchy mixed-state of ingame and cutscene which causes the IPG. As you see, this is a very special constellation of cutscenes which is rather rare in the game, so I don't think that there could be more cutscenes which could cause an IPG by THIS mechanism. But you should have noticed, that this mechanism works different than in TOTL 2, there you just try to force-quit the cutscene, which could be more reproducable. I could imagine that there are some more cutscenes in the game you may break/quit, but first there is no panacea to quit a cutscene or even to proof whether a cutscene can be force-quitted or not, and second not every cutscene-break is suitable to cause an IPG. You can test this even with the SuperDive in LOTLD part 2: enter the Grim-Reaper's room from the back, kill him and trigger his introductory cutscene after that. Nothing will happen. So although this glitch has an absolute logical background, the circumstances are much more complicated than you may think at the first sight.

Wasn't it just explained why they dropped the forums outside of those in English and French?
