Oooh, I love that illustration so much. I've seen it before but not in such good resolution online. I also own a Japanese PS1 version too

If Ubi ever does R1 HD, they should use that artwork as a cover world wide but less pixelated and a bit improved in my opinion.

I just discovered this on Tumblr. Not sure if anyone else here has seen it.

Sadly it is not really rare. It is the japanese cover of Rayman 1.

Ah yes, the Japanese R1 cover, call me old fashioned, but I prefer the simpler western cover, while it doesn't really embody the world of Rayman itself, I do like the air it gives.

Hmm, I recall a certain sculptor who does those kinds of cross-sections for various VG characters, I don't know if it's on an official basis, however.

I found out something about it. It's not official. It's done by a person who does that to tons of figures. Here is his facebook page where he uploads his work for people to see it:
