I think if sally was brought to the cannon I'd support the relationship.

Meh, I'm not really fussed about Sonic pairings, as long as they're not overbearing, I'll just focus on the game itself.

Regarding the games, Sonic should remain single, but if I had to pick a character to pair him with, it'd be Blaze (and she has implied feelings for him anyway, and it's the pairing that would make the most sense to me). I do enjoy the fact that Amy is his "self-proclaimed" girlfriend for the comedy of it, though. And in general, Sonic seems to know how to pull a lady's heartstrings. I thought the ending scene of Secret Rings was pretty sweet.

In the Japanese Sonic X, however, I do think they legitimately pulled off some interesting things with Sonic and Amy's relationship. If Sonic X had a 4th season, I wouldn't of minded if they made the pairing canon.

As for other characters, I was totally down with KnucklesxRouge in Sonic X, and found TailsxCosmo pretty touching.

Meh, Peach and Amy both began as Damsels in Distress to their respective heroes, did they not?

While that is true, Mario still shows to love Peach, while in Sonic universe (I am talking about main games), Sonic never showed to be in love.

So, Sega has confirmed that 2014 is The Year of Sonic. Thoughts on this?

Let's hope there will be something Sonic related on PC as well and let's hope nobody will pass away at the end of 2014 who had to do something with Sonic important.

Just in case you guys don't know what this might mean:

At the very least, I think we will finally learn what the Sonic Boom show is going to be like in a few hours from now. Though we can probably expect to hear about a new game too, as it was Machinima who received this invitation and leaked it.

I HOPE this doesn't mean the Sonic Boom canon becomes the game canon, though.....that could mess a lot of things up.....

If they do reboot for Sonic in games, I am done with series. We all know what happened when Sega tried to reboot franchise in past. Plus, I believe that majority of fans would not support it

Another image has surfaced. Apparently, this is concept art for "Sonic Boom: The Game". I think it's legit. Also has Tails and Amy:

Image

As for what I think of Sonic and Knuckles, I already spoke about it elsewhere:
It's not the idea of Knuckles being buff that bothers me. It actually differentiates him more from the rest of the cast.
The WAY they approached it is silly though. They literally plopped the head of his regular design and put it on an inflated chest, and this legs are all long and skinny. It just looks so off. There is no sense of proportion.

As for Sonic - he's actually fine. Honestly, the change isn't that drastic. I like the extra quills and the scarf, it suits him. The blue arms take away some of the colour contrast in his character, meaning he has a bit TOO much blue, but I don't mind it too much, it's just a small niggle. He is also taller, like in '06, but his proportions are handled well. His face looks a bit smaller, but it's still mostly the same.

As for the bandages, they are a bit unnecessary, but they do look kinda cool.
To add to the new image with Tails and Amy:

Tails looks fine. He just has a few accessories to reflect his love for mechanical work, and it's practical. Now he won't just literally pull them out of his ass.

Amy literally changed outfits. Nothing more. We've seen her in plenty of outfits before.

EVERY freaking year something like this happens. Last year it was Pac-Man, now Sonic... PLEASE let this be fake for game and just stick with those models in cartoon only. Lost World designs are fine and it should stay that way.

I think you can rest easy, OCG.

Sonic Boom: The Game has a trailer. It is being developed by "Big Red Button Entertainment", who are an American studio. So it's not a Sonic Team game. Sonic Team will likely continue doing their own thing.
Big Red Button has former Naughty Dog vets onboard.
As for the game itself, it looks to be a 4-player action game. We can finally play as other characters again. It seems like it's the third Nintendo exclusive game.

Although the designs besides Knuckles are fine...

oh god please tell me these are just prototype in game models

Hm, my thoughts are pretty much Brawler's niggles and all, I'm ok with the designs. But those ingame models need work, good looking they are not.
I have to say though, between the lot, I think Amy's and Tail's redesigns are probably my favourite, Tails has a more technical appearance that suits his nature as a mechanic whose intelligence rivals Eggman's, and I think Amy's outfit is certainly more practical if she's going to be wielding that Pico Hammer.

Lots more info in this article, including screenshots. Also, this article confirms that the Sonic Boom franchise is not replacing the original franchise, but this is the last Sonic game as part of the Nintendo deal. So think of Sonic Boom as "Western Sonic", and the normal Sonic we all know and love as "Japanese Sonic".

Also worth noting is that this articled expands on who is working on the game, and informs us that the Wii U version is running on CryEngine 3.

OK, THAT blew me away. I'm excited for the show. Surprisingly high quality CGI, and the humour seems so cute. Eggman's design is also cool.
