Jumping on spiders was not intentional, and Rayman can pretty much freeze there.
Even if RR is not in your opinion Remake, technically it is. And from graphical point it does not look better than DC version.

Too easy? No thanks. I want harder mode.

Hm, so what makes you think the DC version looks better than the PS2 version, then? I'll definitely agree with the FPS point, but when it comes to what's been transmitted by the monitor, I honestly think Revolution is better looking.

Revolution LOOKS better but looking at the graphics over all, the framerate makes the game so awkward to play. But I'm totally with your arguments why RR is a remake, but it just doesn't feel like one.

On the basis of motion, I concede that Revolution is bad. On the basis of just taking a screenshot of each and comparing them, Revolution looks pretty good. If I'm being honest, if they ever did a Rayman 2 HD remake, I'd like for them to base levels on their Revolution incarnations, where said incarnations don't deviate from the original design, of course.

I don't know, but I have a feeling that DC version is more polished in terms of graphics. I am not the expert so I don't know, but thats how it looks to me. Perhaps Ad can tell me if I am mistaking or not since he has better knowledge for those things. Also, DC is stronger console than PS2.
Let's not forget true Widescreen option (something that ALL games should have in my opinion).

Widescreen is an advantage to the DC, but in terms of what we're discussing here, which is how the versions differ visually, it's not all that important, is it? Ironic though that no version of Rayman 3 had proper widescreen support either, but I digress.

Also, the DC is more powerful than the PS2? Hm, I'm going to look that one up.

Downsized? Or condensed?

Ahh...condensed is the better term, I guess.

I never realised it until now, but I think that this Whale Bay track may be one of the most atmospheric, creative, mysterious and chilling pieces of music I have ever heard. Every time I hear it, a thousand images and ideas start rushing through my head. You can tell that he really enjoyed composing this one, given that it's also one of the longest tracks in the game. 2:43 is just the perfect way to end it off.

Hm, my favourite part begins about 0:50, very haunting and serene indeed.

I would say that the PS1 R2 is more like a compressed version rather than a downgrade. This version has got really nice stuff that I think they should exist in a definitive R2 game.

@Ad Ah that sound. I like its general atmosphere, especially the small electric guitar tunes and flutes.

Hmm, agreed there, I think I've droned on enough of my preference to the PS1 version of The Crow's Nest.

I actually didn't have a problem with a lot of the stuff they took out for the Ps1 version such as that annoying ship section. There were a couple of parts though that I wish were kept in, mainly the Sanctuary of Water and Ice because the music is brilliant.

Biditank is fun but I can't say Grolem 13 is a nice addition. And don't get me started on how they mixed up the sanctuaries.

I liked Grolem 13, bit simplistic, I'll concede, but I liked how it played out with the infinicopter and storm clouds.
Yeah, I loathe the layout changes and mish-mashing in Revolution, the Sanctuaries, The Echoing Caves, The Precipice and The Top of The World immediately spring to mind as levels affected quite badly by that.

However, I did like how some levels had some more intricacies, like there being some more foliage in The Fairy Glade and Canopy for instance.

Ignoring Grolem and Biditank being far too easy, I really love those bosses.
Bud I do mislike how they mixed up the Precipice and The Echoing Caves, they have been perfect in the older versions. And why the hell did they decouple the first part of The Top of the World and made it a bonus level?

I like all of the new bosses in Revolution, Boss Chenille included. I strongly dislike the framerate and the mixed up levels, except for The Iron Mountains, because I feel that a new boss was needed for the mask, that the baby Globox somehow having the 4th mask was a bit odd (the rain mask made more sense), and that The Pirate Mines is better suited to be another level, as it doesn't fit in at all with the rest of The Iron Mountains.

EDIT: Completely unrelated, but I have something of as theory regarding the 1000th yellow lum in Revolution. If you look closely at the cutscene where Razorbeard eats the yellow lum, you should see that it is in fact a super yellow lum. The only place a super yellow lum can be found in Revolution is in place of the 1000th yellow lum in the Tomb of the Ancients. This would suggest that the 1000th yellow lum later found in the chest after beating Clark is a different lum than the one eaten by Razorbeard, which means that there 1000 yellow lums and one super yellow lum (which probably does not count towards the yellow lums that make up the heart of the world) in the Revolution universe.

The inclusion of Grolem 13 in Rayman Revolution is one of my favourite extras of it, and something it should have originally existed. I never accepted the fact that a baby Globox from the Pirate Mines suddenly goes to Rayman with a legendary mask like a kid comes out from a field trip to the caves and carries 300 grams of pure diamond in his hands and that's the opinion of someone who grew with the PC version of Rayman 2. I just think they could have created a Sanctuary structure because the way it was disposed would be too easy for anybody who is capable to fly (Ironically it could affect the warships of the Robo-Pirates) and break the ice/crystal covering the mask pillar but it was still a good add-on that makes much more sense than the original way to get the last mask.

I also enjoyed the Biditank inclusion, especially by the fact that Spyglass has got a much bigger role in this game and we confront him almost directly. It shows up how a good inventor he is and how he really wanted to confront Rayman by his own hands (although it didn't work, fortunately!).
