Re: 3D Rayman Sequel?

only Rayman 2 was no nonsense Lexis. R1 was incredibly whimsical and R3, well, R3 has a thread here for pointing out all the adult jokes and utter nonsense that happens within the game.
Rayman and Rayman 3 will be also whimsical, but maintain their seriousness and mysticism typical of the Rayman's series, totally absent in last releases!
rant as we might, we common folk can't just walk up to The Villa and demand a serious hardcore 3D rayman. how it usually happens is somebody with connections stops by RPC and just observes/asks us. also Ancel may not be involved as much in the next rayman anyway, there was an interview about letting his established team handle any future titles while he works on Beyond Good & Evil 2.
How could do to communicate them the purpose of a new Rayman (how Rayman 4) in old 3D platform style?

But then Ancel abandon Ubisoft or not?

It's up to them. They most likely wont make 3D Rayman if we ask them. they will do it only if they want to.
Rumors that Ancel abandoned Ubisoft are NOT true. He is simply working on other stuff.

uhhh, what? allow me to be more straightforward, we can't come to them (unless its E3 or something) they come to us. and Ancel was never leaving ubisoft, that was just a couple of fans who asked for Ancel to be in a photo that they jerkishly put on the internet.

How sad! Then I can already surrender to the idea that the real Rayman there will never be more!

Meh, either ways, I'd rather Michel focused his efforts on getting Beyond Good and Evil 2 out, it's been over a decade now since the original first released.

Ok, but it is also almost a decade that does not give us a real Rayman. Also could not do how Rayman 3, overseeing only the game and the other teams develop.

The truth is that in Ubisoft and co. there is no longer will my friend!

A 3D game must appear soon or later. I think with the graphical power shown in nowadays consoles we could see the Glade in even more glory if a new 3D title was appearing. I have hopes for that to happen since they can't go on with the Rayman Origins/Legends formula forever (and Legends didn't sell as well as Origins despite of being slightly better). However, I think that a Rayman 1 HD would be most likely to happen than a new 3D title, but it is just speculations I have.

With the Rayman 4 project available Ubisoft must always exhume the classics!

This constant obsession over the classics is reaching Sonic territory, mind you.
Personally, I'd love for the Rayman series to truly recall and retrieve some of its roots, but I'd loathe a carbon copy of any of the original trilogy, what I've always liked about this series is how unique each instalment has been (well, Legends does break that pattern now, seeing as it's Origins 2 essentially).

I want Rayman 4 to be Rayman 4, not Rayman 1/2/3 part 2.

Serious? Where's the fun in that? I for one like the wacky style of Origins/Legends and I think it'll be a great idea if the development team somehow recreates the atmospheric feel into a 3D game.

(and for one, I say Rayman 2 is overrated...)

I'd love a 3D Rayman 4 as well, but I can't say I'm not happy with the latest 2D games, they were pretty fun. Which is good, as I also expect them to release a third one.

They're both fun, some prefer one to the other, so some people will be happy, and some not as much with whatever they choose to go for.

Personally, I'm not too fond of how wacky Origins and Legends have gotten, but I appreciate the series has always had a wacky element. I'd very much hate for that element to be lost entirely. Just, no more parasitic hair follicles, I drew the line there.

I don't really see that plot element having any direct ties to 'wackiness' itself. It could very well be taken seriously in the same way many of the obscure yet mystical things in Rayman 2 were, which is why I actually quite like that little relic. 'it's an interesting idea, and I can say the same for Globox turning blue. I have no idea how in the world giving Rayman a girlfriend was supposed to somehow enhance or even mildly relate to that plotline though; he could have simply been woken up and chased by monsters.

That's what happens in so many series unfortunately, more and more useless trivia that weakens the series' universe. Take Wesker's backstory in Resident Evil 5 for example.

If I want a new 3D rayman, I like something like Rayman 3, because its wacky, whimsical, has personalty and contains lots of unquie locations. And to be honest, as good as Rayman 2 is, it's pretty bland compared to the other games.

What parasitic hair follicles?

It's one of the exclusive relics from Rayman Origins PS Vita version, it's a...divisive piece of continuity to say the least, and one that I brush aside as one of the wacky theories of the Teensies, seeing as it's been used to explain other pieces of zany continuity pieces.

As for my ideal 3D Rayman game, if we're looking at previous elements, I'd like for Rayman 2's style and tone, with Rayman 3's combat and aesthetic, and a touch of Origins' combat too, and the zaniness to Rayman 1's level.

Funny, I have more issue with the hair parasite idea than I do with the Wife. Priorities, hm?
