Re: Rayman Headcanons
I think LavenderPhysalis drew that theory on DeviantArt.
Ales and Dark Rayman: "Master, why did you choose to set up base in a land full of candy?"
Mister Dark: "Don't question my methods!" (Currently reading Hansel and Gretel.)

Re: Rayman Headcanons
How many undead worlds do you think exist in the Rayman world or do you think it's one big massive continent with a lot of different areas. or maybe a dark version of the glade.

Re: Rayman Headcanons
Hm, I recall someone theorising that the Land of the Livid Dead from RO and R3 are connected and are one and the same, but Origins' is the underground depths of the place, while R3's is the serene and peaceful surface.
If we then merge that theory with another one stating that the RO islands are part of the Archipelago seen in the bottom-left of the Glade of Dreams map of Rayman 2, then it could be that TLOTLD at the very least is on its own island.

Re: Rayman Headcanons
I once had a fun little theory about TLOTLD : that it's a place full of spirits who cheated death. As in, when a person dies and then comes back to life, a duplicate of their spirit goes to TLOTLD. And that doppleganger spirit has the same personality and emotions as the original had been feeling at the moment they'd died; that's why it's so livid.
Not sure how well I could back it up though.

Re: Rayman Headcanons
Hi guys, I've just registered on this forum. I don't know if I should write a presentation topic somewhere, but, nevermind. Ah, and also, I'm Italian, so my English won't be very accurate
Ok, there is a question in my head that doesn't make me sleep... Rayman 1 world.
Ok, Glade of Dreams, we have found it in basically every Rayman games... But... the other worlds?
We have these odd places: Band Land, Picture City and Candy Chateau.
Well, they are pretty strange (and badly designed). I think they don't fit with the atmosphere of the other Rayman games (despite R1 being the first, lol).
Overwhere,
So, one is a mountain land filled with giant instrumental music. It's a sort of city. Meh.
Then, a world made with... Office objects... Tha fuck?
And the last one... A land of candies and desserts. Chocolate mountains and, yes, those kinds of things.
I don't undersand why in R2 and R3 there isn't any world like these.. And, I mean, we saw theme in RO and RL. Yah, Micheal Ancel, I hate you. The steampunk is ok, but these surrealistic worlds are too over the top. I don't like them.
But, the question (again) is:
Why do these world co-exist with the more "classic" ones?
I found a theory. Polokus created the world with the dreams, right? Well, I believe that he, sometimes, had some very strange dreams. Musical ones, created instruments-based lands. Some kind of nightmare created that crappy Picture City world. And, the more glutton ones, became the gourmet worlds. Yeah, flying sausages and all.
It could be banal, but... Think about it... Rayman universe is full of... How can I say.... "Ordinary worlds". Jibberish jungle, yes, there are moving stones, but it's a normal jungle. Desert of the Knaaren, it's a cartoonish desert, but it's still a desert. The swamp zones from R2, they are pretty normal swamp zones, with pirate buldings in some places.
I mean, the lore of Rayman is pretty incomplete. And this is one of the things that I hate most of it, the "gap" between the two types of worlds.
And so, I ask you guys, do you have any alternate theory that can explain the carelessnes of the programmers diverse design of Rayman?
Also, how do I change the avatar?

Re: Rayman Headcanons
Meh, I don't feel like debating the inconsistencies and development of the Rayverse at the moment, last instance of that ended real badly. What I'd assume is that each project has its own artistic and stylistic aims and directions, giving the variety we see, some work, some...not so well. At the end of the day, I think what works and doesn't work is in the eye of the beholder, so to speak, and as such I think there'd be some who'd disagree with your views on those worlds.

Re: Rayman Headcanons
I have a theory about Razorbeard in the animated series, of why he was wimpy and how he became evil.
The episode "Lacmac Napping" (or the whole show itself) is set shortly before the events of Rayman 2 as speculated by a member on DeviantArt.
And my speculation why Razorbeard is wimpy, is because he was the only robot in the town, he's feeling like on his own. Especially when he was working for Rigatoni, he often scolds Razor and torments him by boasting his bossy attitude. Knowing that he feels frightened by much bigger people.
And now for my mjaor speculation! After Rigatoni's circus tent crashed, Rigatoni fired Razor, calling him names and saying that he will never achieve anything for his standards. After hearing those harsh words, he snapped, his rusty coat colours faded to grey, blue and black, then his eyes started to glow brightly and formed an evil glance. He turned back to Rigatoni and then...
(I once had a poll up on Deviantart, asking what people would think if I drew a one-page comic about what happened to Rigatoni after the tent crashed, but I deleted the poll before anyone would even comment or vote)
It's a bloody mess!
Is it sounding disturbing? I'm sorry.

It sounds quite fascinating actually, please, do continue this train of thought, I'd like to see where it'd end up.

Re: Rayman Headcanons
That was actually my exact theory... before I remembered that I could also simply view him as a badass robot-pirate-admiral from outer space, which I like way more.

Re: Rayman Headcanons
@Ad Holy fossils... you had the same theory?
@Master Well, I don't really want to say this, but Razor killed Rigatoni because he was sick of being bossed around, and that he isn't mentally "little" anymore.

Re: Rayman Headcanons
My theory is that, after the Pirate Ship was destroyed and Razorbeard was blown to bits, Rigatoni later found the remains and thought, "Hey, I could use a servant around the circus."
So Rigatoni made Cookie put the pieces back together and rebuild Razorbeard. His internal memory was damaged, giving him amnesia (which is why he's not trying to kill Rayman in the show). And his "vocal cords" were damaged in the explosion, which is why he sounds hilarious in the show.
Either that or they just weren't able to restore his memory. And just gave him a new voice box.

If Razorbeard still had his memory, it'd have to be wipes. Otherwise Razorbeard would be too evil and unwilling to work for him. Rigatoni needed someone he could trust.MLII wrote:or maybe rigatoni just couldn't be fucked

Re: Rayman Headcanons
I'm not one to take the TV series as canon, though these are some interesting ideas.
I'd like to think that somewhere deep in the cosmos, the Robo-Pirates are amassing an army that will completely engulf the Glade, with the vengeful Razor at its head. (I also want to see a Grolgoth 1 vs a new Grolgoth 2, that's my liking for giant robot battles mind ya, but I've dreamed about it, Rayman somehow manages to reconstruct the original, and Razor appears with a new improved model, and they duke it out above the ruins of the Buccaneer).

How would look like Rayman's Grolgoth by the way?

Re: Rayman Headcanons
Pretty much just like the original, with a bit of a patchwork look to represent the fact it's been reconstructed. Perhaps the odd bit of scrap metal here and there?

Re: Rayman Headcanons
In my dream I think Rayman just got the original Grolgoth and Razorbeard got a really gigantic silver one, possibly built from the ruins of the Prison Ship.

Re: Rayman Headcanons
Hmm, silver, eh? I never really thought much about their colouration, had them both be the same orange. I like the idea, though.
Pity I don't have the capability to visualise the idea for others to see, it's a spectacle I'd love to share, but alas, it's trapped within the confines of my own head.
