that's pretty close to what Ancel said, so maybe he really is 1,5m?

That's what I always imagined his height would be. It's a bit odd knowing that he's the size of Mario.
I've actually seen Mario's wiki page. It says that he's allegedly 3 feet in height while Sonic stands 3 inches taller.
I read his page on the Super Mario Wiki and it says he is 5 ft 1 inch tall (Or 155cm).

Modern Sonic's canonical height is 110cm tall, which can be seen in many of the games, including the character select screen of Sonic Free Riders. Classic's is about 75cm, as Metal Sonic's bio in one of the Sonic CD manuals states he is that high. Since Metal Sonic is a robot copy of Sonic, we can conclude that Classic Sonic is the same height. Although some old promo material for Classic Sonic claimed he was about 100cm, Sonic Generations also makes it clear that Classic Sonic is a fair bit shorter than Modern Sonic.

I know that Sonic is taller than Mario in Super Smash Bros, but Super Smash Bros does not abide by canonical height. Kirby is only 8 inches high canonically, or about 20cm high (even stated in his bio in the original Smash Bros), yet he is about half of Sonic's height in Brawl.

Many statues of Mario at conventions and the like also scale him within the 150cm range, too.

I've noticed in the Olympic Games, Mario and Sonic are around the same height (with Sonic a bit taller, like in Brawl). Not sure if it was scaling them down, or Sega wasn't given the Mario gang's height.

More likely "mascot equality", in a sense. All of the playable Sonic characters in those games, except for Vector and Eggman (Eggman is as tall as Solid Snake canonically, and still appears to be around that height in the Olympic Games) are scaled up to be around as tall as Mario's height. Because they are not realistic, Sonic does not look odd being slightly taller than Mario from an animator's standpoint, as one of Mario's defining characteristics is his stout stature. Mario is a middle aged male human, so by real life standards, he's pretty short. If the Sonic characters looked smaller than the Mario characters, it would just look strange since they are all a cartoon. Sonic looks Mario's size in his own games relative to Eggman, but that's because Sonic's size relative to Eggman looks the same as Mario relative to Bowser in most of his incarnations. So Sonic is scaled up and Bowser scaled down to even things out. It's also for balancing reasons.

As for Smash Bros:

Meh, I think scale isn't really a major issue when it comes to video games like these anyways, the details we tend to get worked up about tend to be less important to the creators, which I think is fair enough. For instance, while Legends and Origins might not have been as heavy on the story elements, they were clearly made with passion and care, and I'm more than willing to deal with my issues about these details because these games had heart and were well made for what they were intended for.

Exactly. Though I wish they at least kept the motive for Ales.

That's pretty much why Legends is my favourite game in the franchise. Rayman lore is interesting enough, but feels much less important than it even does in franchises like Sonic and Pokémon, so while I do enjoy Rayman 2, even as a game, it's story and what not was not as amazing as I felt the strong points of Legends were, which is why I like it so much. And the creator of the franchise doesn't seem to care too much about it either anymore.

Though character details always interest me, because I feel they enhance the enjoyment of the game, even if it isn't story based, which is why the revelation of Rayman's height intrigued me. I think it's fun to look at him in relation to other video game characters.

Also, I changed that chart a bit. Removed Olimar and adjusted Snake a little.

Meh, even with those aspects in mind, I still prefer Rayman 2, I'm more inclined to its kind of tone, to each their own, hm?

Oh gosh... The picture where Rayman was urinating made me blush... O_o

Well, I don't think Rayman's "O" would be his... You know what I mean... Plus, I thought his "O" was for storing lums is it not...?

What if Rayman wore boxers...? I mean, he cannot be nude underneath his shirt... Oh, and taking a good look at this picture, I think he might actually be holding his... (Again, I don't wish to say anything silly) and what if there's a hole where he can emit his urine...?

I don't know, these are my estimates... ;p

That conjures up some...uncomfortable imagery, to say the least. Though he's a creature of fantasy, whose to say he has anything of the sort?

I think Shyness is referring to that infamous bathroom ad for Rayman 3, which I'm not a huge fan of to begin with anyways, personal tastes are personal, hm.
