Legends has more in common with Origins, the one hit health system is used, in lieu of the the dot and life system from Rayman 1. This means you've got to be more careful in how you proceed, as one wrong move will kill you instantly. But, at the same time, you can't get Game Overs, nor are the checkpoints too far off, as such, Legends tends to be harder, but easier.

Yeah, I have to buy it I think. So nostalgic. Dissapointed Mr. Dark didn't return though :(

Howdy, RaymanPS1! I remember you :)!

I honestly recommend Legends more than Origins if you never played Origins. Mostly because Legends includes almost all the levels from Origins but with improved graphics.

Glad you remembered me Haruka, because I definately remembered you. :)
Well, I played it over at a friends house, thought it was pretty fun, but not quite "up there". Hopefully Rayman Legends will satisfy my needs and memories. Did you watch the video Haruka? Can you confirm wheter or not it is fake?

I do hope they make another 2D Rayman Game that has some remaked maps from Rayman 1. Maybe a more Rayman 1-style gameplay, that is not that fast paced, but rather focuses on exploring. I know I might sound a little bit "lost" in the old days, but that is how I am. I definately want to see Mr.Dark as main antagoinst next, what about you guys?

Also, Holy shit guys. The mechanics of this forum needs an update, it feels like we are stuck back in year 2000. It should be easier to navigate around on the website etc. BTW, it feels like this forum is pretty much dead compared to before, or am I wrong?

I just watched the video and it is definitely a fake. Someone surely modded the game graphics. The painting of the very left side never existed, and notice how the text font is different. Also, "Mr. Dark" isn't quite anything related with the drawing style of the characters.

Well, we had a decrease of active members lately for many reasons, one of them being the fact that there is no novelties about the franchise (since pretty much everybody here already played Legends from A to B).

That is sad. I believed in it and was hyped. :( I do understand it is hard to illustrate Mr. Dark in a drawing-style, but it should be possible. And he deserves to return, and not as a Teensie. He is the original antagonist, and it would be awesome to revisit Candy Land in the new graphics. Candy Land suits the new graphics in Legends and it could look really great in my opinion. I do love how Rayman Origins and Legends have maintained the difficulty level of Rayman 1. I loved to be challenged.

Also, why the heck did they change the Magican to become a Teensie?? They just messed with my memories of The Magician as a good guy and also a Ray-specie.

I do think Michel Ancel is planning on making Beyond Good and Evil next, after going through all the interviews from the past 8 months. But I do really hope we will see a Rayman title next as well. I never really loved 3D Rayman in the same way as 2D Rayman, even though it was an amazing experience in 3D as well. Ancel was talking about that he was very happy with Legends final product, and felt that they it maybe was time to move on. Ancel is so mysterious.

April fools joke or legit?
On the Rayman facebook page it says: "Ubisoft is proud to announce its partnership with the French Federation of Football for the 2014 World Cup! Hey, Pikachu! You ready to go head-to-head against our ‪#‎Rayman‬ mascot?"

Whether a joke or not, Rayman would be a pretty kickass mascot for France, I think.
I'll admit it had me going, but it was merely an april fools joke. It would be cool to get him as a new unlock though (would probably be done through uplay). :D

BTW, now as I am thinking about buying Rayman Legends, how much better are the graphics on Legends in comparison to Origins? How much better does the characters look when playing on the console? Also, is it mainly the good stages from Origins that make a return in Legends? Are they identical, or harder to complete in Origins? Also, are the stages on Legends good? What are the pros and cons of Legends and Origins? Can someone list them up for me please?

Anyone else miss the good old "YEAH!"?

I always felt the only fans who seem to like the trilogy to most are those who have really grown up with them and played them back to back like us. Big named sites like IGN, and such would likely prefer Legends.

It's was the developers' choice. It may not seem great to everyone but I really love how the Magician is the antagonist. Especially once you read the Beat Script of Origins.

The graphics are great in both games. I can't say one's better than the other because they have styles to their own liking. The characters look, feel, and play the same in both games. Yeah, the developers did a good job on picking the levels for Back to Origins, but they are not identical most of the time and they are easier. The stages in Legends are really good.

The pros are that the games are really well designed, have great music, and are overall fun to play especially if you play with friends.
The cons are no story... no story... no story... hmm...

The "Yeah" is meh to me mostly since Rayman 1 is my least favorite Rayman title.

I think that Origins was definitely more well-designed than Legends. Many of the areas in Legends don't adhere to the mechanics nearly in the same way they do in Origins, which I think is a shame, because that's part of why I found Origins to be so fun, and I did honestly get a bit bored with Legends from time to time. On the plus side, it has some interesting new level-specific mechanics (like being a duck, and eating cake).

On the note of how the mechanics differ between the games, they do actually somewhat. In Origins, attacking in mid-air will make you stall in place, whereas in Legends, you retain your velocity entirely. Also, the sweep-kick in Origins was replaced with an idle ground-pound in Legends.

I agree, when you've got a franchise that's only a few years younger than Sonic, there's going to be some divide in liking as time goes on.

I like how in Origins, getting maximum Lums was much harder.

I believe it also has to do with what an impact they made during their respective time periods. People playing them nowadays might not notice, but both Rayman 1 and 2 were groundbreaking innovations in both art and gameplay for their time, and for those of us that played them then, that impact remains.

Mind you, I still think that both Rayman 2 and Super Mario 64 objectively remain unmatched in terms of how detailed, flexible and smooth their 3D platforming mechanics are, even in comparison to modern titles. I mean, there aren't really many modern 3D platformers, but for a direct example in Mario's case, to me, neither Sunshine nor Galaxy feel as nice, precise and solid as 64 does to control. I've recently been designing some levels for 64 using the OBJ Importer, and I had to take a step back and marvel at how jaw-droppingly well-programmed and utterly flawless the mechanics and camera systems were.

I agree. Super Mario 64 is one of my favourite Mario titles from all of those that I've played. I enjoyed more the 64 experience than with Sunshine, and I think that they even made the game better with the DS remake.

I am a little confused now. On my Playstation Store I can buy Origins for half the price of Legends. I have neither. Should I buy Origins or Legends? I have not played Rayman since the horrible Rayman Raving Rabbids, and also playing a little bit Rayman 1.

You could try out Origins first (Ad replied you in Legends about the understanding of the plot-twist) not just because of the price but I think it could be good for you to learn quickly how it works the Origins/Legends mechanics in a progressive way (and as a result you would later have no big issues in Legends).

Exactly like Haruka stated, once you've mastered Origins, Legends will be a breeze (most of the time).

I remember when I tried out the Rayman Origins demo right in the release for PS3. I took maybe 30 minutes to start to get handle of the physics of Origins (I was too used to the R1 physics so it was wierd at first, but there is no doubt now that the Origins physics are more precise) but I only discovered more secrets about the gameplay mechanics gradually.

Well, I downloaded the Origins Demo last night, and I found the mechanics quite easy to manage. Despite, me wanting to buy both games now probably, I still feel it is a waste since I get so many Origins maps in Legends. So confused right now..
