It's my birthday in june and i've had my eye on the nintendo 3DS XL for years now and since they're pretty cheap i'm hoping to get one. HOWEVER, I'm not too sure what rayman games are on there and if they're any good. I know origins is on there and another port of TGE but are there any on the eshop? I love the rayman games and rayman 3D is only £8 in my local supermarket..
1. Are there any rayman games on 3DS? and are they good?
2. is the 3DS worth it? (is the XL better?)
In terms of Rayman, I believe there's around four Rayman titles. There's the GBC and DSi versions of Rayman 1 on the Eshop, and the 3DS versions of Rayman 2 and Rayman Origins. If you factor in the DS backwards compatibility, you'll be able to play all three Rayman Raving Rabbids titles, and the DS verison of Rayman 2.
Personally, I don't think you'll get much satisfaction from the 3DS in regards to Rayman, however, as I mentioned above, it has DS backwards compatibility. So not only have you got access to the 3DS library, but also the DS' and indeed, the DSi's. With that in mind, you've got quite a large selection, the 3DS has some pretty good first party titles, such as Luigi's Mansion 2, Pokemon, 3D Land, (and an upcoming Smash Bros') etc. There's also some neat third party titles like Ace Attorney in there.
I think the 3DS is worth it, I've been craving one for meself for quite some time now, there's plenty of members here who own them and have competed and played together on many titles, and I'm sure they'll have plenty of good things to say as well. As for the 3DS vs XL, it depends, the XL is significantly larger, I've seen them side-by-side in person. If portability is a main factor, stick to the normal one, if you're not too fussed and would prefer having more to see, the XL is probably the way to go (just beware if you do, the XL does not have a bundled charger, you'll need to buy it separately).
3DS is great console but definitely not the best one for Rayman. However with the other amazing games it got, I say get it anyways
To have the best out of Rayman with less consoles possible, PS3 model which plays PS2 and PS1 games is great, and getting Wii with GameCube compatibility as well (if you want to play Rabbids games, Rayman Arena and best console version of R3).
Rayman games for the 3DS. Not so great. I highly recommend 3D Land, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Mario Kart 7, or perhaps Kirby Triple Deluxe which would be out next month.
