How large are your hands?
The average hand span is around 17.5 cm for females, and around 20 cm for males. To measure yours, all you have to do is spread your hand out as wide as you can, take a ruler and measure from the tip of your pinky to the tip of your thumb. No inches please, even you Americans have centimetres on your rulers!
I'm lucky to have a hand span of 25 cm, it really helps to strike out large chords and arpeggios on the piano with ease and minimal movement, and play a lot of Rachmaninoff with the original fingerings.

18.5 so like a whole centimetre bigger than the average female hand and definitely not a yaoi hand.

Re: How large are your hands?
Hmm, so we're measuring like so:

Not our finger lengths, but how far we can stretch them. Let see if I can find a ruler then...
Edit: At its widest, I'm a 22cm.

Re: How large are your hands?
Still, a handspan of 25cm is quite impressive, no wonder you're as productive as you are.

Re: How large are your hands?
Er, well, if I had to attribute it to being productive, I'd say that it's at the very most inspiring to me to practice more. Experience trumps hand size any day, the size is just a nice bonus that allows you to do a few extra tricks. While the one with the biggest hands could be the best player, you'll only be the best if you're as good as the best already out there.Master wrote:Still, a handspan of 25cm is quite impressive, no wonder you're as productive as you are.

Hmm, I see. I guess motivation comes into it as well, not like productivity comes by itself.
Re: How large are your hands?
My ruler is too short but my hands are around 17-18cm so it's average.

SI: 0.235 m
cgs: 23.5 centimetres
For this, I discovered that online rulers exist, and that websites are able to read my screen dimensions without my browser asking permission first.

Re: How large are your hands?
My earlier measurement was carried out awkwardly with a 20cm ruler. I guess I must have fumbled it, because according to this one my hand span is 25 centimeters as well.PluMGMK wrote:For this, I discovered that online rulers exist, and that websites are able to read my screen dimensions without my browser asking permission first.
Definitely not. I only know about three or four people with hands as big as mine. Most of my friends have stumpy little fingers. I don't know how they manage.Adsolution wrote:Maybe it's an Irish thing.
