The Mii's in Mario outfits was the thing that most impressed me in Wii, It's a pretty neat addition even if it's just a skin change.

I dunno but I kinda doubt anyone is gonna be impressed by a third clone, little girl or not. Babies make up way too much of the roster now. I also really doubt Ninty'll ever include non-Mario characters, was that a rumour? I think this is the final roster, it looks complete, so most likely the roster you get when first starting the game will be the one from the store demo, which featured only eight or so characters. I don't mind the roster too much because I tend to play Mario Kart competitively and if there's difference in speed/accelerating/etc based on characters, I'll simply pick one that works best me (Funky Kong in Wii, Shy Guy in 7). I just miss the diversity of roster for a game like MK Wii or Super Sluggers, and I really don't understand why they couldn't have King Boo or Birdo in there.

No, it's just something everyone has wanted since Rosalina's Smash 4 reveal, where they made us think the trailer was for a new Kirby Air Ride, and then made us think it was for Kirby showing up in MK8, before showing us it was for Rosalina being in Smash.

It's honestly the only way they can hype the MK roster at all anymore. No matter what they do with other characters, there will always be mostly indifference (any generic mook from the Mario games), or an extremely mixed reception (Baby Rosalina - just as many people love the idea as there are people who dislike it).

And the idea is just too perfect, because so many potential guests have an easy choice for a signature kart, like:

Kirby - Warp Star
Toon Link (most fitting for MK representation, IMO) - King of Red Lions (just throw some wheels on it) or Spirit Train
Captain Falcon - Blue Falcon (which was ACTUALLY a kart in MKWii)
Samus - a kart resembling her spaceship
Pit - Exo Tank or Lightning Chariot
Villager (or any Animal Crossing character) - Taxi/Bus

I mean, there is literally no reason not to.

And on the topic of DLC - there WILL be DLC. Think about it. MK games only come once per console generation (including handhelds). The 3DS is not being replaced anytime soon because it's still highly profitable. The Wii U is still in it's early days yet, and it's profitability will only get better with MK8, Smash, and other titles. And this Mario Kart is such a huge step up from other games. So it's going to be a while before we get a new Mario Kart. So the only way Nintendo can make money off of this highly profitable franchise for the next while before the next generation of consoles, is to make DLC for MK8. And if they are willing to make DLC for Mario Golf, which is fairly niche by comparison, they will most certainly do it for this.

Playing the Mario Golf World Tour demo and I have to say it's pretty fun. I like that you can fast forward and use items. The challenge modes are pretty fun to play too.

Sorry for the bump, but Nintendo has announced that they will be showing off a Skylanders-esque NFC toyline at E3. It won't be limited to one game though, each toy will work with multiple games:

Hope they don't make too many like Skylanders did.

Anyways, in recent news, there is huge Tomodachi Collection controversy.
What are your thoughts guys?

You mean the thing about them removing a glitch in the previous, Japan only Tomadachi game that allowed homosexual male couples, and now the new game, being released internationally, not allowing homosexual male couples?

I haven't read into that too much, so I can't say much. I heard that Nintendo's response was that they are not allowing gay couples because they don't want their game to look like a social commentary.

And while I think same sex couples should be OK in this day and age, I can kind of see where Nintendo is coming from. It could be an excuse, maybe homosexuality isn't well received in Japan (I honestly don't know what the situation is there) and Nintendo of Japan (who are making this decision) are just homophobic and are trying to hide it. If they are being genuine though, I understand why they wouldn't have it in the game.

Despite some "Okama communities" existing, in Japan, same sex marriage is NOT allowed by law.
Many people in Japan also look down upon gay people so I think that is main reason why it won't be in game. As long as Japan does not change laws, Nintendo won't do it most likely.

But believe me, there are far worse countries for gay people than Japan.

So yeah, it's probably because Japan doesn't really like gay couples as much as the West. I don't think that necessarily means Nintendo are homophobic. It's hard to believe they would be, considering how outright homo-erotic the dialogue in Kid Icarus: Uprising got at various points! :P

Actually Nintendo posted an apology about on their facebook saying that they'd consider adding it in the next game, as it is too late for them to go change it in this version.

EDIT: My apologies, a source for that : http://metro.co.uk/2014/05/08/nintendo- ... e-4721325/

Welp, that settles it then...

...though I suppose that won't stop people from demanding them to patch it in, since the glitch in the original game was removed via patch. Not that it works that simply, but unfortunately, most people aren't aware of that.

I don't know i've seen Tumblr be pretty chill about it and if they're like that i'm sure that isn't going to be too big an issue. Their statement hinted at a sequel as well so there's a fair chance they will get what they want.

eh, Big N's never wanted to get into politics, and if they DID purposefully do it, it don't bug me much since they just want to make games people will play, not argue about.

Philips wants to ban Nintendo Wii and Wii U in the US and also ban importing them:

Or Philips is desperate for quick money, or Nintendo has got quite a problem to solve. Honestly, why Philips only warned Nintendo about the patents 5 years later after the Wii release? Also, in 2011 there was no Wii U yet.

Ugh, I really hate "idea patenting". It's basically a way of saying "if I can't make something due to not having the resources, then nobody can coincidentally do the same thing as me, only better, and actually succeed with it". It'd be completely different if Nintendo outright stole the patent documents or something, but I highly doubt this was the case.
