Of course!PluMGMK wrote:I decided to attempt to move Tily to the new template:Is there a place for her in this archive?
You'd have to zoom into the template or even just load it in on PAINT to see why; the reason the corners are so smooth is that the corners use transparent colours on some of the pixels to make it look smooth. Naturally when you place a full opacity picture with no transparency on top of the template the pixels are no longer transparent and thus make the corners seem jagged/pixelated.rolesfamily wrote:Why do people have problems with the corners when there's a rank template given on the first page? Surely if you're working from that, you can't go wrong, no? Unless I'm missing something fundamental here.

Re: Special Rank Archive
But surely you're making the image fit the template so it shouldn't affect the corners? Thanks for explaining btwSerza5 wrote:Of course!PluMGMK wrote:I decided to attempt to move Tily to the new template:Is there a place for her in this archive? You'd have to zoom into the template or even just load it in on PAINT to see why; the reason the corners are so smooth is that the corners use transparent colours on some of the pixels to make it look smooth. Re: Special Rank Archive
Think of it this way : Imagine you have a glass of water, the water is obviously transparent right? Now imagine taking a thick piece of paper and placing so that it covers the whole glass; You can no longer see through the glass because something that isn't transparent is covering it.
The process of making ranks is similar, if you want the rank to still have the smoothness if the image covers the template then you need to ensure that the corner pixels retain the same level of transparency to make it smooth.
EDIT: If you're still thinking "eh but surely no?" then all I can say it do it for yourself and see what happens in an image goes over the corners.

Re: Special Rank Archive
Right I'm with you so far (first paragraph)
Ah, I see now. I wasn't thinking that the image would run over the corners. But you're right. The only way to do that would be to keep shrinking the image so it fitted just right without it affecting the corners.
Thanks for explaining further

Re: Special Rank Archive
To elaborate further on my trick: I selected the template layer and used its Invert as an outline for the actual image's layer. Then I'd erase anything that was inside of the marching antline (the selection box) - doing this right will ensure everything outside of the template gets erased, but nothing inside does.

Speaking of broken ranks, the transparency on some them also seems to have gone kaput, so to speak.
