Re: E3 2014
Figures.
Anyways, sadly, though I'm tempted to stay up late for the Ubi conference, the fact that I've got an exam tomorrow morning completely negates any opportunity to do so. I'll have to check the updates afterwords.

Re: E3 2014
Well I'm most excited for Microsoft's conference, seeing as they must have a shit ton of announcements judging by the stuff they announced early to make room for more stuff at e3.
If Halo 5 wasn't deemed important enough to announce at e3, I wanna know what was!

Re: E3 2014
Seems like some screenshots of Mario Kart 8 DLC have been leaked, and are apparently going to be officially announced tomorrow:

Re: E3 2014
More information on Halo 5?If Halo 5 wasn't deemed important enough to announce at e3, I wanna know what was!
Just because Halo 5 was ANNOUNCED before E3, doesn't mean it isn't the biggest/most important thing Microsoft will have. Companies often announce/tease a big new game BEFORE E3 to generate hype, and make sure more people watch their streams. Then they land us with a ton of information about the game at E3, and maybe a playable demo on the show floor.
This happened last year with Nintendo - they announced that a new Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and 3D Mario for Wii U would be at E3 months beforehand, but they didn't give any more information on those games until E3 came around - needless to say, people watched Nintendo's E3 Direct last year for those games, and they were probably the biggest games Nintendo had in their E3 Direct last year. The latter two also had playable demos at E3 and at various Best Buy stores across the US.
I'm not saying this is a bad practice (in fact, it's a great practice), and I'm not saying Microsoft WON'T have something bigger than Halo (though I'm admittedly not feeling very optimistic about that considering how they have been incredibly terrible for the past couple of E3's), but Halo 5 being revealed early doesn't guarantee anything beyond more of it being at E3 in some shape or form.
Re: E3 2014
Yeah I'm sure they'll talk about Halo 5 but it's not coming out for over a year so I'm not too excited about it yet, but they got the announcement out of the way at least, and I really think it's gonna be a good conference since they have some catching up to do this year, and games will be the absolute focus (although I'm sure they'll mention the kinect-less Xbox One). I have high hopes for some awesome game announcements this year.
Also I thought their conference last year was pretty damn good, but I have to admit it's kinda blended in my mind with the Xbox One announcement conference since they were so close together.

Re: E3 2014
The problem with Microsoft's conferences for me is that they don't do anything to get me to buy their console. The Xbox One exclusive announcements/showcases last year during their conference were either:
-Inherently unexciting to me (though this is admittedly subjective - for example, I don't care for Halo that much anymore, so I probably won't enjoy it if they focus a lot on Halo 5, even though I understand why they would)
-Way too vague to mean anything (Quantam Break)
-Coming out on PC anyway (Titanfall - which also is coming to Xbox 360 too)
-Coming out on PS4 anyway (Call of Duty always has a presence during Microsoft's conference)
If Microsoft's conference is like this again, I'll probably never be buying an Xbox One. Not out of spite, but if the other two companies do well (Wii U has Smash Bros and Zelda for me, as well as MK8 if it gets continued support through DLC and patches, so I am guaranteed to have something to keep me hooked there), I'll be spending money on games for those systems on a more regular basis, rather than not buying new games on those systems to save up for a system I don't care for.
My brother will probably get it eventually though, since he likes to have every system in a console generation.

Re: E3 2014
Hm, well I didn't see any compelling exclusives on the PS4 last year either so I suppose it depends on your console preference. Personally I prefer the Xbox controller, OS and online ecosystem, so games being multiplat didn't put me off in the slightest, and those games were probably the strongest ones last year.
My most enjoyed games on the One so far would probably be The Lego Movie game, MGSV Ground Zeroes, Trials Fusion and Titanfall, each of which came out on other systems, but I have no problem with that whatsoever.
My most enjoyed PS4 game would probably be Assassin's Creed 4, before the system started crashing, so I haven't finished it yet

Re: E3 2014
That's exactly my point though - third party games are fine on Xbox One, which is great for people who own an Xbox One, but when I already have a PS4 and PC for those (the latter of which will play them better in most cases), it's not a selling point for the Xbox One.
Exclusive games are the biggest selling point of a console to me. They largely form the consoles identity and tend to push the system the most, plus, I can only get them on one system. Xbox One just has nothing in that regard for me. And while PS4 didn't have much last year, it had some stuff, and I'm sure we'll see more of their IPs in the future, like Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, and God of War. Nintendo had a lot for me though.
Microsoft just haven't been announcing a lot of exciting and varied exclusives, and they don't have a good track record with it either, which is why I always go into their conferences with low expectations.
Anyway, it starts in a minute (literally), so we'll see what they have to offer now!

Re: E3 2014
Yeah exactly, no need if you don't like the exclusives.
Imma fingers crossed for either Halo 2 anniversary or even better, Halo Master Chief Collection, be so happy if that thing's real.
My PS4 is basically gonna be a Naughty Dog system, and anything else that seems like a worthwhile exclusive, but for now, gathering dust
edit: Woooh! Master Chief Collection has been announced, gonna be sweeeet!

Re: E3 2014
Just finished watching Microsoft's conference.....
While their last few shows were just yawnfests, I'm happy to say that they had a lot of nice stuff this year.
I'm still not at that "OMG I NEED XBAX!!!!!!" level yet, but I was impressed, and genuinely smiled a bunch of times throughout the show.
Happy to see Conker in some shape or form again!
Now I'm REALLY excited for Sony and Nintendo! Don't let me down, you two!

Re: E3 2014
With Killer Instinct coming back and seeing Conker again, I hope it's a sign we will be seeing more of Rare's IPs this generation.

Re: E3 2014
The only thing about Conker is that he just seems to be a part of Project Spark somehow. It's not an actual Conker game. Regardless, I hope whatever this means for him turns out great.

Ubisoft: The Division, new Rayman game
(probably.Won't bet on it, because they ignore Rayman like it's a cancer MOST TIMES) . New IP.

Re: E3 2014
I know Conker isn't getting a new game (well, as far as we know), but seeing Microsoft use Rare's IPs, even for just special guest appearances, gives me hope. For a while, after Nuts and Bolts, they avoided Rare's IPs like the plaque.
