Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
The new gameplay for Sonic Boom... ouch. Really, I'm not gonna lie here, I was open arms with this game, I overcame the new designs and accepted it, all I really cared to see was gameplay, and now that I did, I'm not too happy, the graphics look alright but the level design looks bland at least from the levels we saw in the demo, now I understand completely we shouldn't go into this expecting a Sonic game, I understood that, a beat em up type Sonic game for me is fine, but the execution of it looks poor, again, LOOKS, I'll have to play it for myself, but I'm seeing this game not get good reviews. I just can't say it's for me, the new designs aren't a big deal, but again, level design just looks incredibly mediocre, along with the gameplay. I'll get around to playing it someday before I make the full judgement, but so far it doesn't look too great in my opinion.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I fully agree Rayfist, I wasn't too hyped about when it was announced(mainly because we hadn't seen enough gameplay at that point). Now that we have, I'm not hyped at all. It looks so, slow, I know this isn't a main series game, but it still needs to live up to some standards. We knew the game would have combat, but I expected fast-paced combat. To give it credit, I like the visuals, the music, while not on the catchy side, is nice, and I like the dialogue. This being a new universe, seeing Sonic being a loner is quite interesting. The 3DS game looks ok and I'm looking forward to the cartoon, but as of now, I'm just gonna have to wait until it comes out.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I'm on the fence about the Wii U version. I'll get it eventually for sure, but right now, I'm not exactly excited for it. I'm fine with them taking a totally different direction, and I can say it at least looks better than Knack on the PS4, but I feel like Sonic Team's own take on the beat-em-up platformer genre, the Werehog (in the HD version of Unleashed) is way more fun than what the Wii U version of Boom is turning out to be. Say what you will about the Werehog, but you cannot deny he had a wide variety of moves in the HD version of Unleashed, which was part of why I really enjoyed playing as him in that game. I do like how the different characters in this game have a different fighting style though.
Oh, and I feel at least Sonic should be able to run faster in the Adventure stages on the Wii U. Bringing back the run button from Lost World would easily remedy how slow Sonic trots about here.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think the Wii U version will be a bad game, especially considering the pedigree of the developers. I just think that, the game they are designing may as well star the characters they created in the past, like Jak & Daxter. Because it seems to play just like a Jak game. Which isn't bad, it's just a little TOO far away from Sonic.
As for the 3DS version, I'm surprisingly excited for it, I actually found myself slightly giddy watching E3 footage of it. The Adventure stages still allow you to move fast, but they are open, explorable, and Metroidvania styled. The tube races look like a fun way to break up the game, with different challenges to accomplish. And the Rival Races are basically like the level design of a Sonic Rush game, with the Rival concept from Sonic Rivals. And they got Richard Jacques doing the music in the 3DS version, and he's done some awesome music for the Sonic franchise before, and the music I'm hearing in the E3 videos is already getting stuck in my head. I'll probably pick this version up day one, it'd be a nice thing to play in order to break up my play time with Smash Bros 3DS.
I've been excited for the show since the beginning, and I'm even more so now since the new trailer came out, it's beautifully animated, and it looks very cute and funny.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Doesn't look anything like a Jak game to me, more like a mix of Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One and Knack.
From what I've seen so far, I like the characters personalities in this game a lot more than those in past 3D Sonic games.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Meh, my investment in the Sonic franchise probably isn't as deep as some of you folks, I'm still curious about Boom. I admit, I'm more interested in the 3DS version meself, but I do also have some interest in how Wii U will play out.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Has anyone heard if they plan on getting Crush 40, or one of the other bands back to do a song? Sonic hasn't been the same since ditching those catchy themes.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I miss the themes with lyrics as well. I'm willing to bet Crush 40's version of Sonic Boom will be the theme of the TV series.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
So the "Sonic Toon" promo art softens Amy's facial features compared to the original "Sonic Boom" promo art. Makes me curious as to what kind of changes the Japanese localisation team for the Sonic Boom branch will implement in the long run (top is the original, bottom is a cutout of Amy for the Sonic Toon version):

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Turns out the writer for the Sonic film is a lifelong fan, and is currently replaying the games for research purposes.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
A lot of people seem to be giving him flack for the fact he is coming out and saying he's a lifelong Sonic fan. As if to say he's posing.
I don't understand that, he seems completely genuine. I mean, his profile picture is Charmy Bee. Not many people know who he is.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
Remind me, this is that live action sonic film that was rumored to come out in 2016 right?

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
There's not a release date yet, all we know is that it's happening.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I hope Japanese voices will be included in EU version of Sonic Boom games then. Well when Sonic Team is main developer that is the case, but will Big Red Button be bothered to include them in non Japanese versions?

Doubt it, since they likely won't have possession of the files. The belated release of the Japanese version is probably so the game can be dubbed.OldClassicGamer wrote:I hope Japanese voices will be included in EU version of Sonic Boom games then. I emailed Big Red Button and asked about Dual Audio anyways.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
So Van Robichaux has been answering some questions on the Sonic movie over on the Sonic Stadium Message Boards (he was prompted to join by a fan):
Van's Response:Okay, Mr. Van, I need to ask this, since it's a problem with a lot of cartoons that get this... live action, stuff.
Is this a show more focused on the humans than it is the cartoon character it's supposed to be about, or is it actually featuring the cartoon characters?
A lot of times, it's more about the humans and their human problems, featuring a small amount of the cartoon characters.
Maybe i should say it like this, do we see more humans in the movie, or more of Sonic, Eggman, and whoever else is in there?
Another Question:This will be a Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The star and main character of the movie is Sonic the Hedgehog.
Van's Response:Oh hey...what about that thing that said there would be a new movie "every year"? Er, I'm going to go on and guess it's a rumor, but...?
Everyone involved hopes this will be a franchise, but "one film a year" is a rumor / misreading of the press release. Marza as a studio plans to release one film a year. That includes, but is not limited to Sonic movies.

He also said that the movie will not be based of Boom.
I have to say, my optimism is rising, but I'm still gonna wait for a trailer.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog
I doubt it, movies don't just appear overnight after all, and from what I can fathom, the movie's still in pre-production.
