I guess remaking Rayman 1 levels will be an obligatory thing if such a tool were released.

Depending on how much is possible with the editor, I might be able to finally bring to life a Metroidvania concept in Rayman Legends!

Of course, this is in it's early stages, so I don't expect much beyond landscape, object, and effect placement (such as lighting and cameras). I don't even know if this will allow custom assets yet, but it'll be great regardless.

Hopefully more people with engineering prowess get on board cracking Rayman Legends open, so we can essentially make our own games.

Maybe if Ubi found out this was going on, they'd finally fulfil their promise and open-source the damn thing! :P

This great because this could also help me with my level designing skills!

This looks fantastic! I will probably try it out if/when he releases that.
It's worth checking out his other stuff too, by the way. It's all pretty awesome.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSYvE8Mn9us - allows you to access the developers' challenge training room, play as Ubi Ray, play the challenges offline, etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75Ab05EgvdE - a bugged version of the home screen he got when trying to replace the files.

I still want the real UbiArt framework a lot more than a RL level editor though. :)

I think we'd all be happier getting UbiArt out itself, but I'll take what we get.

So we gave this game a quick go with a friend. Finished the first painting and...

Personally, I'm not a fan. Besides Kung Foot, the game lost most of its personality. It looks beautiful, but not memorable. The music stages are great, but the music in general is not. The engine changes are nice, but I miss the duck-kick. So yeah, so far, I'm not impressed. The Back to Origins stages aren't as great as they were either.

Not to say that the game is bad (it's still very, very good), just compared to masterpiece (Origins), it's not a great follow-up.

I honestly think it was a big mistake from Ubisoft's side to bring back the Origins levels in order to reward the extra time they got. It would have been much more wise to create LOTLD levels from scratch, I think the Livid Dead Party world would benefit from those. It was quite a massacre for those who played RO before since we nearly had to start the whole game over in this way.

Personally, I would've pulled a Bayonetta 2: include the game as freebie for Wii U owners. That way, they would get to play the HD version (the whole reason Back to Origins exists). Or remake of the entire game, not just select stages. That's another problem of mine. I don't want them to select stages for me, I want all of them. :P

EDIT: though I don't see the problem with buying the Wii version. Sure, it doesn't look as great (it has quite a few visible pixelated parts due to the resolution), but it's still very much a good port/version of Origins.

Pity the Wii version cannot be controlled with Wii U Gamepad, yet it can display the game on screen.

At least they did a much better job porting to the Wii than to the 3DS.

Don't even remind me. I played the demo and it feels so wrong. It's not as smooth, not as fast...

and I still want to buy it, because it's fucking Rayman Origins. ;_;

I know that feeling Truner. Same reason why I bought Origins for 3DS.

I still didn't finish the 3DS port at 100% but I can tell you I've never seen such a glitchy port since Rayman DS and Rayman 3 HD. This manages to be even worse than Rayman DS, god damnit.

So with the World Cup being on, I just remembered that there was some football Rayman or something posted here a while back...what was that about again?

Also, Rayman Legends on Steam received an update recently. I've yet to check, but does anyone else know what the last update did?

Hmm, I don't think any major content packs have been announced or anything, probably just fine tuning, I'd guess. I ought to play some Legends tomorrow, might as well with my exam season concluding.
