Aaaaaaanyways, Truner said he will make a Amazing learning games optimum for all regions but download link for the USA version was posted somewhere in page 47.
Re: Rayman Optimum
I'm sorry to ask these questions but I really read countless pages here now but can't find the answers. Hate me for this or not but would someone with an amount of time would be so kind to help me on these few points?
1. What is the difference between Optimum and Mega Patch? Just the better quality audio files?
2. What are the "Extras" downloadable seperately?
3. The third thing, this PCX stuff, are these user levels or is it just neccessary to run user levels (which I have to look up and download by myself)?
4. I read "Linux" and "Mac" sometimes on a few forum sites here and since dropbox is available there too it makes sense so... is Optimum available for Linux as well and if yes... is the Linux installer already included?
(I won't be at home for a while so I can't test it for myself now so sorry for asking. I'm just curious.)
5. Is Optimum still in developement and if yes what is left to "develop"/improve beside bug fixes?
Beside those questions I've got to say that I'm REALLY thankful for any efford made to the old Rayman cause I LOVED it as a child and still love it very much. Played all the way through Rayman 1 again with the Mega Patch some months ago and it was big fun so... Thank you that your still putting your time in it and don't be too rude with me for asking these questions.
Cheers from Germany

Re: Rayman Optimum
Oh Hi N8master! Remember me? You send me like months ago PMs regarding to Mega Patch. Schön dich wieder zu sehen
Rayman Optimum is an updated version of Rayman Mega Patch with new features and etc.N8master wrote:1. What is the difference between Optimum and Mega Patch? Just the better quality audio files?
These extras just include like minigames, soundtrack, wallpapers and avatar.N8master wrote:2. What are the "Extras" downloadable seperately?
Someone just compiled a bunch of pcx files for Rayman Designer to extend the abilities for the mapper.N8master wrote:3. The third thing, this PCX stuff, are these user levels or is it just neccessary to run user levels (which I have to look up and download by myself)?
There is an update coming up soon which will support Linux and Mac OS X soon.N8master wrote:4. Re: Rayman Optimum
PCX files are graphics files (the format used to be quite popular long ago!) that contain the graphics used to build worlds in Rayman Designer. If a user-made level is played using a different PCX from the one used to make it, stuff will look weird!

@emshomar: Of course I remember you! (Logo erinnere ich mich!)
Thanks for clearing things up by yourself! That means Optimum is some kind of "continuation" of Mega Patch? Alright, sounds good!
It's sooo great to hear you're going to support Linux. Can't tell you how happy I am about that.
I will build up a small HTPC running SteamOS (Debian Linux Fork) with XBMC in a few months to get on the sofa and take my gamepad and chill out. What would make this dream more perfect? Right: Rayman!
Thank you really much.
@PluMGMK: Thanks to emshomar and you I think I got it now.

Plus: I would like to add that I would appreciate an "Education Optimum" or whatever it would be called as well!

Re: Rayman Optimum
Think of it as an "Enhanced Edition" kind of deal. We are just improving it. In the process, it also got a better name.N8master wrote:That means Optimum is some kind of "continuation" of Mega Patch? Alright, sounds good!

"Education Optimum" is still far away. As I've said before, we would need to get every single different version of all the educational games. Every supported language. In total, that brings the project to over 30 games needed. Because of this, the Optimum version won't be out for a good while. There are some people trying to get specific version of the games, but progress is slow. Any help would be appreciated.
Re: Rayman Optimum
Let's resume what we will include in the incoming update:
- Multiplateform support (even better, 1 executable for all the os)
- Multiarch support, even if I ran into some problems with that, I think the that the linuxians using 64 bits distros will need to have multilib support to launch the game
- A launcher, nice and neat, in the style of Rayman 1!
- ISO based installation: 1 iso for all the os
- Opensource release, I'll include the java sources
- Configurator included into the launcher, more options but also more user-friendly
- Updater into the launcher: if a new release is out it will update your game
Any questions or suggestions?

Re: Rayman Optimum
Ye, are you going to continue to look for ways of using custom shaders on OSX and Linux, or have you basically given up on that?LoveMetal wrote:Let's resume what we will include in the incoming update:

Re: Rayman Optimum
Nope, I searched almost everywhere I could, and the only solution would be to rewrite the OpenGL wrapper of our dosbox build to make it integrate GLSL shaders. And I won't do that.
Re: Rayman Optimum
It's a pity. There used to be (maybe there still is) a libretro version of DOSBox, and RetroArch has a very wide support for many types of shaders.
Re: Rayman Optimum
Yeah got that already. I would like to help getting these games. I know how far this release is away but that's not that bad because I want it for my children and they're not even born yet.Truner wrote:Think of it as an "Enhanced Edition" kind of deal. Re: Rayman Optimum
Thanks a lot for all those updates for Rayman 1. I am a huge Rayman fan and used to play Rayman 1 and Designer. Now I have a chance to play Rayman by his Fans and Rayman 60 Levels as well. My question is why the addon Pcxs made by the Betillas Garden Community are not in the installation, rather they are in a separate link. They are really wonderful and extend the mapper so much, it would be a shame if someone misses them and uses the original Pcx rather than the addon ones.

Re: Rayman Optimum
No fan-made content will be included. This is excluding things like enhancements, such as a version in the future which will hopefully include the original PS1 soundtrack, though that's being still being figured out.

Re: Rayman Optimum
Wouldn't that involve screwing around with the way the game loads CD audio?

Re: Rayman Optimum
Optimum loads the music from the 'Music' folder in the install directory, so it would likely just involve telling each level which .tra file to load.
