Purple CD? Never saw that.PluMGMK wrote:I have the PC version on a similar-looking yellow CD, somewhere. I also have it on a purple CD.
The reason I have so many copies is that I kept looking for ones with the full soundtrack - I never did find one.At least I finally managed to emulate the PS1 version, which does have the full soundtrack.

Yeah, apparently it was a "SmartSaver" edition published in 1999 by The Learning Company.

I have a couple of those, actually. Seems AOL had their hand in it as well, at least for advertising.

Re: Rayman 1
My only copy of Rayman 1 for PC is the SmartSaver version:

I much prefer this purple disc over the standard yellow or silver one.

Re: Rayman 1
Yeah that's exactly what I have, and I think purple suits Rayman well.
Great to put those discs in a classic retro DOS machine.

Re: Rayman 1
Cool.
But if that's your "only" copy, what happened to your Rayman Forever disc?

Re: Rayman 1
My copy looks like that, and was also published by The Learning Company (the fuck?) and had the AOL trial, but I don't seem to recall it having the logo on the top, and I believe its release date was 1997, not 1999.

Re: Rayman 1
I meant my only 'original' copy. I have two Rayman Forever discs.
For some reason, one is blue and shiny, while one is matte and a little more aqua:

Re: Rayman 1
Ya, it's a completely different texture (almost the tiniest bit rubbery) and has none of the textural 'extrusions' on the text and such that the shiny one has. It also appears to have been printed at a higher resolution and with more accurate contrast.

Re: Rayman 1
But Rayman 1 for PC is part of Rayman Forever though. Plus one of Ad's discs has the proper soundtrack (as opposed to the merged one on the SmartSaver disc) so it's an even "truer" copy.

Re: Rayman 1
Oh god, you fell for that! That was an elaborate hoax I played when I was younger. You see, when I was eleven and recording my Rayman long-run, I was using a mini-cassette camera, and first would record the game with the music switched off in 12-bit overdub mode, then afterward I would play back the PS1 soundtrack from a boombox using the overdub. It made for something very convincing.

Well, I did ask you a number of times if it was a hoax, and I wasn't fully convinced for a long time!

Ah. Much like my copy disc of 100 Niveaux which came with the bigbox:Adsolution wrote:Ya, it's a completely different texture (almost the tiniest bit rubbery) and has none of the textural 'extrusions' on the text and such that the shiny one has. And the disc that came in jewel disc only:
