For the floppies, I also remember to use them in my near end of childhood to save Word documents I was developing in the library but being frustrated for missing few kilobytes to store it, even when compressing. What I was doing was to use a third-party software to split files, and saving the most I could in the floppy, making the other parts invisible in the computer and hiding them in a way that no random user would delete them and then I would return the next day to pick the rest, ehehe. I was amazed when the USB Sticks started to become more common and cheaper and saw it had the equivalent of hundreds of floppies in such a small thing

I still used CD Walkmans in my childhood, I even remember that in order to save the condition of the original discs I did copies just to listen them into the player. Fun memories. But it is unquestionably better to carry an MP3 player (or something capable of reproducing these files) nowadays and I think it would have made me things easier too before.

I remember having Cassette-based Walkman that was Jungle Book based
Back when USB Sticks were still new, a father 's friend wanted to help me with my computer and install drivers and he put setup files on USB. My PC back then didn't have USB port
I was also amazed to see such small device with memory more than CD-Rom

That's all well and good, but the point is that kids don't inherently respect old technology. It's just not something they should be expected to understand to begin with.

I too have fun memories of floppy disks, including bringing a self-extracting ZIP archive to my grandfather's house to install WinZip itself!
I miss those days.

Windows even had an assistant to extract Zip files!

GO NINTENDO!
They won everything

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Nintendo totally won this year for me. They managed to make my wallet shake for real!
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Nintendo definitely won't be in crisis like before. Not only did MK8 rise the sales of Wii U but with all the great games, the sales won't drop down anymore. I am telling you, when SSB gets released, sales will go even more up, and SSB might be best sold game this year. If not, than MK 8 will be most sold for sure. I mean, MK Wii sold 35.53 million. I expect MK 8 to eventually reach that and maybe surpass it too.

I expect Smash Bro.s to be a big contender for game of the year, along with Shovel Knight and Assassins Creed.
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I think that the Wii U has got two problems that can explain the lack of sales: lack of AAA titles and retail price. Now the AAA are gradually popping up (it still needs Zelda though) but I think Nintendo should do a pricing tweak.

Meh, the one major contention point to me at the moment is in regard to third party support, Ninty's own titles are impressive.
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
They are but I still believe that many people stay away from the Wii U due to its retail cost. You have the Premium Pack for 300€ while PS4 is out for 400€: what do you think people will prefer? They will obviously prefer to give extra 100€ to have the fancy Sony console. I think Nintendo would benefit more if it was doing at least a 50€ or 100€ of price cut. Buyers would think twice.

The Wii U controller looks way more fancy than PS4 controller

Agreed. The only other console which featured a display on the controller, which I can think of, is the Dreamcast. It's a shame that the Dreamcast failed! I hope the Wii U won't fail too!OldClassicGamer wrote:The Wii U controller looks way more fancy than PS4 controller

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
A brand new Smash Bros fighter is going to be revealed on Monday. However, instead of doing it through something like a Nintendo Direct, they will be streaming a 3 minute reveal trailer on the official site. The stream's player is already up on the site:

Rayman or Crash Bandicoot please. If they include some of them, my life would be complete.

I looked back at previous trailers, and Palutena's was exactly 3 minutes (with an extra second). Rosalina's was not far off, and Greninja's was just over two minutes and a half. Those were most noticeably the longest trailers.
I expect it to be a character from an already represented franchise, like Zelda. Or maybe the Metroid fans will finally get Ridley.

The Crash Bandicoot game series is seriously dead. It's probably for the best considering what garbage they put out.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I honestly don't get why anyone would want to play as Ridley. I'm still going to hold out for a new fire emblem character, preferably Hector.

Which is why it needs to be rebranded and rebooted.rolesfamily wrote:The Crash Bandicoot game series is seriously dead. It's probably for the best considering what garbage they put out.
