Re: Any questions on this board?
Well, franchises can endure, one only needs to look at the likes of Batman and Superman, they've been around over 75 years at this point. Doctor Who and Star Trek both are about 50 (well, Who is over it, Trek's approaching it). So, who knows? Maybe it can happen, or maybe not. Time will tell.
Re: Any questions on this board?
For Rayman, I can't be too sure but he will at least probably have games sometimes if not constantly or he might become public domain who knows. Nintendo will exist without a doubt, Mario franchise will never end. I would not be surprised if One Piece still gets new manga chaptersdartofthedavros wrote:*cough* you know, if Nintendo and Rayman are still around 42 1/2 years from now.....

Re: Any questions on this board?
Nintendo may exist at that point, but I'm pretty sure Rayman will one day fade into history, or at least will not have the brilliance that is Ancel behind him. Even Miyamoto is retiring from nintendo soon, so quality is likely to dip around departure. at least thats how I see it, for all I know, people that properly respect the franchises might pick up the torches for both developers.

Re: Any questions on this board?
Well, I think as long as a franchise has the ability to be flexible and reinvent itself, as the likes of Batman, Doctor Who and so on have been able to time after time. Then there's every chance that it can last, so long as it's helmed by people who understand the intrinsic qualities of said franchises and are able to respect the current groundwork they have while still being able to mess things about.
Re: Any questions on this board?
I like to think Kirby will be more popular than Mario.

Re: Any questions on this board?
When Miyamoto retires Nintendo's going to end up having a mini meltdown. There will be all these Mario games being developed including a gritty first person shooter Mario, but all of them will get cancelled and there won't be any Mario game's for a few years and he'll only appear in other games as cameos from then on out...wait, wasn't that exactly what happened to Mega man when Inafune left Capcom?

I make the same mistake twice and suddenly your questioning my native language?
Now you mention it though, no it's not. my native language is Gobblefunk, seeing as your interested.
Nah, I'm just tired, not that me being any more awake would have stopped me from making the same mistake, although it's my native language, I've never been particularly strong with English. I can spell antidisestablishmentarianism fine but have trouble spelling collor. As for my grammar, It's a very mixed bag, I'm fine with some rules, and others I just completely throw out of the window without even realizing it. But, grammar is very important, after all it saves lives: "Let's go eat, Grandma." can easily become "Let's go eat Grandma." and suddenly, I find myself facing charges of cannibalism. By the way, she was delicious.
But it won't happen again officer, promise.

2050s? Think quantum consoles!
Unless of course Valve succeeds in enticing all gamers to join the PC Master Race.

Im hopping for CGI graphics to be rendered in real time (60 frames per second) and a HELL OF A LOT MORE COMPUTING POWER!PluMGMK wrote:2050s? Think quantum consoles!

Also for 3D projectors that can render in real time too.

Re: Any questions on this board?
Seeing how quick VR technology is picking up, I wouldn't be surprised if we'd be playing in a Rayman game as opposed to playing as Rayman in a game on the screen by the 2050s.
Re: Any questions on this board?
2050? I really don't know.
There are fields where we progressed far more than it was expected 20 years ago, and others where many expectations were put into, and failed miserably. So I won't put a single penny onto expectations other than for the very close future.
I think Clouding will be completely dominant in a few years, then physical versions of games will make a good comeback. You know, like vinyls for the music industry. Although it won't be as interesting since music is about listening to something, and that the hardware for watching stuff is getting only better and better on the contrary to music hardware, which has had a lot of advantages before Compact Discs even showed themselves.
I should buy stuff in order to listen to vinyls in the near future. It also seems that less people are buying CDs nowadays. I like physical :3, will buy CDs rather than digital music.

They rarely ever do anything interesting, so there's not much of a pull there.PluMGMK wrote:Unless of course Valve succeeds in enticing all gamers to join the PC Master Race.
