I just saw that trophy earlier. The fact that Ubisoft sent Sakurai data for a full 3D model instead of just references and the fact that Sakurai asked for Rayman as a trophy AT ALL really says to me that they both would like to see Rayman in the game. It gets me hoping even more for him to be a fully playable character. If not this game, most definitely the next!

I hope they consider DLC as a means of implementing new characters throughout the life cycle of the new Smash Bros. It would be a great opportunity for characters like Rayman, who may have only been considered late into the development cycle to be added.

Not to mention, having Rayman's face in a popular game series is excellent promotion for him, since he hasn't had much limelight.

Yeah, it would definitely make the character more recognizable in Japan, meaning Japanese consumers may be more inclined to buy future Rayman games if they enjoy playing as him in Smash.

I don't know where to post this but Ancel has joined an indie game studio, together with Christophe Héral. Their project might be revealed at Gamescom. He'll still remain creative director at Ubisoft though.
