"Thread" implies that this forum uses a threaded structure, which, being phpBB, it really does not!
Also I may be talking through my hat, I don't know anymore

I'm pretty sure the phpBb developers ditched the term 'topic' when they introduced 3, along with a couple of other things too like 'stickies' :(

You sure? The icons for them are still called topic_read and sticky_read etc.

Maybe I stand corrected then. They seem to have ejected them from the user interface at least, though.

I'm pretty sure that when I experimented with setting up my own phpBB3 forum a few years ago the word Sticky was still used, and the title of this page is quite clearly "Rayman Pirate-Community • View topic". :P

I do wonder what PHPBB 4 could hold, in the future.

Tbh I don't think there will be one. Despite their usefulness, forums seem quite old-fashioned and I don't see a major new release of this forum software coming in the future. :(

Unfortunately, Plum has got a point. There was a fashion some years ago where it existed a forum for everything and everybody was using them. However, with the birth and growth of Facebook the social networks became monopolized by it in a way that Facebook works for everything now. (Most) People prefer Facebook now and I fear that the new generations will see forums wierdly and not getting interested in registering, or they register themselves and then start posting without understanding quite well how a forum works. Afterall, "what are forums for when there's Facebook?" would be their probable argument. Oh well. I'm still from those people that prefer forums over Facebook since it has got a better monitorization of contents and that they can be more easily archived.

I think this is the main reason why I think forums will still stand fairly well even in modern times; sure enough everyone is on Facebook and there are discussion spaces but it is not nearly as efficient as forum hosting is. Forums will only fall (in comparison) when Facebook decides to implement a much more stable, forum like, feature in it.

Also facebook is an evil corporation that sells literally everything on it to everyone it can. Not saying forums don't do the same, but at least I don't know about it. :mryellow:

Meh, I see Forums and Social Networking both of the same cut as it were, only that one caters to more general needs and the other to more specific.

At least Hunchman doesn't try collecting and selling personal information and pictures like Facebook. So no, Facebook shall never win to RaymanPC. :P

Feels good to read this again, as we're on the subject:
viewtopic.php?p=904698#p904698

That said, I think forums aren't fashionable enough anymore for something like phpBB4 to be developed. :(

I am IT project manager so I am interested in how the ARZO and the following groups hacked the RZ (six times!!).

I could not find informations about all hacks but I made interesting discoveries on the first.

I think that the ARZO used a modified version of the Santy worm because it first propagates silently (no defacing) and then defaces websites and displays the 'generation' but the Rayman Zone did not have the generation displayed.

That makes me think that the ARZO got their hands on the worm and specifically directed it at the Rayman Zone. In any case, it was NOT the normal propagation of the Santy worm so someone modified it and did it intentionally.

More information: What is Santy bringing you this year?

Does anyone have more informations about this hack or the others ? :hap:
