He just returned today, and is showing no sign of improvement AT ALL despite all the efforts < is putting into trying to reason him and make him grow a bit.
< is getting fed up with this.

Re: The You Game!
< is wondering if anyone can take a look at <'s stream. Testing from <'s brother's computer, which is a lot more powerful. < is streaming at 720p, 60FPS, so < is trying to figure out an appropriate bitrate for people. If it's laggy, let < know.

EDIT: Scratch that, < is going to try something else. Apparently, it's useless to try stream 60FPS if < is not a partner on twitch. < will switch to 1080p, 30FPS for the time being.

Re: The You Game!
30 FPS is usually better on the Internet, as least for sharing videos on YouTube (Vimeo/Dailymotion enabled 60 FPS before YT). < doesn't really know about livestreaming, but if ^ doesn't really need 60 FPS, then < would advice 30 FPS, at it is easier for some Internet connections to handle the amount of data. The difference 30/60 FPS is less important than 720p/1080p, < thinks.
But of course < is not a specialist of that kind of subject.

Re: The You Game!
<'s dachshund smells like a combination of a dirty mule and rat urine.
Also, < disagrees with ^. Framerate makes an astounding difference in how a scene is perceived, often much less so than resolution.
Also, a higher framerate wouldn't affect those with a poor connection very much, as the quality is automatically reduced if the bandwidth isn't high enough. What sonicbrawler is referring to is his concern about the footage not being streamed properly, since, like he said, streaming in 60FPS is basically useless if you're not a partner, as it won't come though properly.

It mainly depends on what kind of content you are watching.technology4617 wrote:<'s dachshund smells like a combination of a dirty mule and rat urine.

< agrees, and 60FPS is generally much better for gameplay, unless the game is trying to have a more cinematic feel.

< wish <'s computer and Action! woudl be good enough so < would be able to record some scenes in more than 60 FPS to make cool slow-mo scenes with Vegas Pro.
Unfortunately, even with a $1400 worth laptop, < isn't able to do so. :'(. But < would need to buy a freaking expensive computer to be able to do so.
At least now, < is able to use video-editing softwares, which wasn't even questionable before with a 500€worth laptop bought 4 years ago.

Re: The You Game!
Yeah, < isn't going to bother with Twitch right now. < just tried streaming to YouTube, and while I cannot get 60FPS (which Twitch won't let me do anyway) since YouTube have not implemented yet, < is going to do 1080p, 30FPS on YouTube. < tried it with a bit rate of over 4000kbps and it worked amazingly smooth, like watching a YouTube video. So < is good for now.

Re: The You Game!
< seriously doesn't see the appealing difference between 30fps, 60fps and anything higher than that. < can tell the 'smoothness' increase of 30 to 60, but < doesn't notice that much difference to the 30 in the first place. Anything above 60 is just ridiculous, just like tvs that claim they display 'three billion colours' ("that's nice," < then says, "because we can only see a couple of million").

< recommends running the game at a lower resolution and that should help.saerleiya wrote:Or slow-mo.technology4617 wrote:< agrees, and 60FPS is generally much better for gameplay, unless the game is trying to have a more cinematic feel.

Also, YouTube streaming is homosexual.

< totally agrees, and also about those 120Hz/200Hz/forty-eleven-hertz TV sets that are on the market now.

Re: The You Game!
Actually, with frame rates, it's a bit different. There's this article:
https://web.archive.org/web/20021029004 ... 01FPS.html
Now it's a bit pretentious in that the writer even takes the time to write out the full word that 'DNA' encapsulates in the acronym, maybe just to show us how smart he feels or maybe just because of habit, but the point that is made is that our eyes could be able to see up to more than 220 FPS, exactly because are eyes don't see the world in frames, but more like a continual stream of visual information (which makes sense if you have a bit of knowledge on how the eyes work with the cones and the rods and the nerves and what have you) that only gets interupted by blinking.
But what < was getting at is that < doesn't notice the increased levels of smoothness passed 30 FPS, or at least, the increased level doesn't strike me as something visually more stimulating than not, so < doesn't find the same level of excitement in 200 FPS vs 60 than others would.

Re: The You Game!
For <, < would like to be able to stream 60FPS for Smash Bros when it comes out on the Wii U, or at least record videos at that frame rate (which < can do). That frame data is gonna be important.
< does notice a strong difference between 30FPS and 60FPS, though. It's like night and day.

< thinks that the cricket mission in Sly 2 is cursed, since there's a flashlight guard that doesn't appear when you expect him to be there, and appears when you don't expect him to be there.
