Re: Rayman 1
I don't know if anyone will necessarily care about this, but GameXplain did their first Sunday Night Stream with Rayman 1 (PS1), and the video of the stream is on YouTube now.
It's nice to see someone who is basically a first time player (Derrick has played the game before, but never completed it or anything and he was still a kid last time he played it) play the game and do fairly well at it.

My Rayman Designer Candy Chateau Screen Shot Show Very delicious Sweet donuts
Re: Rayman 1
Looks cool but Rayman doesn't look very comfortable there!
Re: Rayman 1
That's something that would really be useful in level making.
Re: Rayman 1
Come to think of it, I don't actually hate this game as much as I used to think.

How did you do that??THEdragon, on Nov 11, 2013, wrote:Has anyone tried running Rayman Advance on an emulator that allows the muting and un-muting of individual sound channels, and recording each individual channel of certain music tracks? Because that's what I did with the start screen music and the result was interesting.
Re: Rayman 1
I use VisualBoyAdvance, so if you're using that one to it's Options > Sound and then there should be some sound channels listed in there. Just click to toggle it on and off and hear the results. I used Tools > Record > Start sound recording... to record it (After turning the sound effects off to isolate the music, of course). It's a bit lengthy because I have to go through and mute all the channels I don't want playing then record and let the song play through while it's being recorded.Fifo wrote:How did you do that??THEdragon, on Nov 11, 2013, wrote:Has anyone tried running Rayman Advance on an emulator that allows the muting and un-muting of individual sound channels, and recording each individual channel of certain music tracks? Cool. I didn’t know VisualBoyAdvance is capable of muting individual channels!THEdragon wrote:I use VisualBoyAdvance, so if you're using that one to it's Options > Sound and then there should be some sound channels listed in there. I think that gameplay in this game is a whole lot better than it's sequel.technology4617 wrote:Hm, what changed your mind?Bradandez wrote:Come to think of it, I don't actually hate this game as much as I used to think.

Re: Rayman 1
Wow, Rayman 2 made you like Rayman 1 more? That's...interesting, to say the least.
Re: Rayman 1
You know what's kinda bugging me? The layout of the Valley. Assuming it is an island with a valley in it, where is everything? How are the six worlds arranged? I'm guessing the Caves of Skops are somewhere under Picture City, the Dream Forest is in the lowlands, and that Candy Château is somewhere in the highlands, but the rest kinda baffles me. Kind of annoying when I'm trying to describe the Valley in fanfictions. I'm also guessing the Dream Forest is somewhere near the seashore, assuming Rayman started his journey from his house, which was on the shore.

Re: Rayman 1
Meh, consistency isn't a strong point in the series:

Perhaps a good place to start are the visual points of reference.

It's like Polokus couldn't make up his mind and kept re-assembling the Valley until he gave up and started over with the Glade of Dreams.

Re: Rayman 1
Actually, the two designs from the intro to Rayman and the world map are consistent, if you look carefully; they're just from different perspectives. In between the hills with increasing altitude on the world map, there must be a canyon cutting right through it like you can see in the intro. In fact, there is. Look at the world map and watch the waterfall from Mr. Stone's peaks fall down behind the other hills, into a canyon between the hills. I think the world map shows in flat-on sideways view what the intro views from 'the front'. The forest stretches from the far foreground to the far background and also snakes through behind the hills; Band Land is in the far foreground, Picture City is slightly behind that, behind that is the Candyland Chateaû and furthest back are Mr. Stone's peaks. Rotate that view 90º and you get what you see in the intro.
(the shape of the hills in the intro and the world map seem slightly inconsistent, but that could still add up considering what is blocking what, exactly)
Also, what's that house right above Band Land's musical keyboard? Is that the hippie family's abode?
