Thank Jebus for the DSi version of the game, or else I'd never be able to play this game.

What about Rayman Optimum? ePSXe? SSF? Those are all ways to play R1.
I want to get DSi version though and I wish I can LP it. but quality would be horrible.

Yo, just in case anyone wants to watch, emshomar and I will be partaking in a Rayman 60 Levels blindrace on twitch.tv. None of us know the layout too well, so it should be pretty entertaining. :)

Seriously? There's just no doing it right, is there? :P
Well, I guess that means that ELEM will hit that sweet spot, then. ;)

And Rayman 3 is in the middle, I guess then?

Hmm, I'll admit, I can run through Rayman 2 in the course of a day (and probably 100% it too if I put in the effort), whether that's down to difficulty or experience, I'm not sure. Rayman 1...well, I took quite a long time to beat it, but I've never ran through it wholly since, much like Origins and Legends. I wonder if I just get more worn down with their style of play compared to the 3D titles, which I've replayed so many times I've lost count, or if it's just relative difficulties.

What is right and what is wrong? Is it an idea that we conceptualize into our own mind and let ourselves decide on what our morality thinks.

I dunno, but those two games have major differences in their difficulty.

*EJE
My game should have a progressing difficulty, where the player should learn how to use their skills as the levels will put them to the test. I think it's in the middle of the game where it'll start to show.

Well then, I said I'd consider making a poll for favourite versions after the success of the R2 one, so here it is, vote away, fellas.

Hm, this is a tough decision between the PC and PS1 versions. The PS1 version has the full soundtrack as well as better graphics, but the PC version has that one transitional level from the Dream Forest to Band Land that I honestly felt added so much to giving a coherent sense of adventure, and it's the only version where all the sound effects retain their original pitch. I also like the more challenging location of the cages in the PC version. Still pondering, maybe I'll cast a vote later.

For note, I'll never pick the Saturn version, because some of the background changes were nonsensical, and almost all the sound effects are stupidly pitched-up to the point where they sound like Atari 2600 samples, which honestly kills it for me.

I'm guessing you guys like it because of that extra crawling-on-hill animation, that one animated background in Gong Heights, and the glass shattering effect after you beat Mister Dark?

Also the game-over animations!
Still, PS has that extra MIDI music and whatnot. I don't think I can choose tbh.

Some of the background changes were great though. Extending the moon background of the final Space Mama battle to the previous stage and giving it those scrolling layers was a stroke of genius, and greatly adds to the cohesion and atmosphere of the level, particularly considering the choice of music.

Oh come on, is it really not worth it? It might not be everyones favorite version but avoiding at all costs? I think Spiral above me described it perfectly. It's actually far better than the PC port (aside from the missing beginning intro to Band Land). PS1 and Saturn version for the win. The background swaps may not be to your liking but at least it adds something a little different. And I felt some areas actually had much proper background replacements. Avoiding the Saturn version completely is kind of silly in my opinion. :/

The little Windows movie maker transitions for loading screens was kind of a nice touch as well, nothing outstanding, but cool. It's not at all expensive like the Jaguar version, so avoiding it really confuses me, as the SEGA Saturn was a 2D beast. SEGA and Rayman was always proven to be an awesome combination.

I wonder what kind of artistic masterpiece Rayman 1 would be if we could somehow mix-and-mash all the aspects of our favourite versions together seamlessly as if they all belonged to one version to begin with.
