Yeah, but in future, no need to make new threads for saying something like that, you can post it in existing threads such as "Off Topic" or "You Game"

Yeah this place is seriously thread-phobic :p Don't worry, most forums actually aren't like that, but it takes a while to get used to this place. Look forward to more activity soon!

Not true really, most forums I've come across are much more strict with threads than this one. We're just fond of organisation.rolesfamily wrote:Yeah this place is seriously thread-phobic :p Don't worry, most forums actually aren't like that, but it takes a while to get used to this place. Re: Sorry for inactivity!
Holy shit are they? Damn, well I have to say this place is one of the most 'hardcore' when it comes to keeping threads in 'main' topics. Don't get me wrong, I friggin' love this place a lot. It just takes a lot of getting used to when you're from forums where you can make threads as much as you want and about everything!Adsolution wrote:Not true really, most forums I've come across are much more strict with threads than this one. Re: Sorry for inactivity!
They sure do, but from my forum experience that's what I've always known and it sort of just worksAdsolution wrote:Those forums must have shitstains on the ceiling.
Whereas here, if I did that, people would want me to post in the 'Off Topic' thread. I don't think this place should change it's attitude towards threads, as it works very well for this place. But some of the forums I'm on, I couldn't imagine them operating like that.
Re: Sorry for inactivity!
I would say that those forums lack some moderation then.
On the other hand I used to frequent a forum where the administrator was elitist to the point of censoring fan events related the forum's theme, which was quite stupid.

Re: Sorry for inactivity!
I don't think that's fair to say Haruka. They're moderated as this place is, just differently. The 'Off topic' section of the forum is where people would make numerous threads about whatever they want providing they are in the rules. Rather then just posting in one 'Off topic thread'.
My problem with having just one 'Off topic' thread is that some people's posts can be over-looked. Say the off topic thread is in the middle of a heated debate, and I want to talk about my super new cool shoes or some shit like that. If I posted that in the middle of the debate, the post would be totally over-looked! If I made a new thread away from the current conversation, it's got more of a chance to have a discussion about it!
boom .

Re: Sorry for inactivity!
I agree with Haruka especially considering I go on a forum which lacks any sort of moderation when it comes to thread making. Sure you can make what you want but with the lack of search engine and brains on some newbies the same sort of thread keeps popping up on the forum, sometimes a little different to another while some is literally the exact same. Needless the say the mods/admins do hardly anything about that resulting in very cluttered forums.

Re: Sorry for inactivity!
Well the forum I run I follow the same thread rule that I've always known on the forums I've been a big part on. (the opposite of this place). If someone makes a dumb thread that's easily answered by Google, you just get the typical people posting:
L2GOGLE!
and once the question has been sorted the thread gets locked. As long as the thread meets the forum rules I don't see the problem.

Re: Sorry for inactivity!
Well, we have various threads for different things that fill it all up nicely. The You Game is most often used for smaller things that you've just done that you feel like sharing, not necessarily seeking a reply, just sharing. The Pluses and Minuses thread is most often used for slightly larger things, such as life events and whatnot, where you're more likely to get a reply. Then there's the Daily Doldrums thread where, by the unwritten social law, you're bound to get detailed replies and have a thorough conversation, because generally speaking, it is a place for more serious discussion.rolesfamily wrote:My problem with having just one 'Off topic' thread is that some people's posts can be over-looked. If it's something really big that you feel deserves a lot of attention and discussion, then a new thread might be warranted. It's not usually the case where it'll be some sole event pertaining to yourself, but, well, who knows how significant said event could be!

Re: Sorry for inactivity!
Well when you put it like that, it does make sense to a certain degree. It totally works on this forum, and I actually like the change! I think I'll take note of the threads you mentioned if I ever do need a reply to something I'm saying, or would like to have a serious discussion. Although, take this thread as an example! By it being a separate thread it's started an interesting discussion about threads!Adsolution wrote:Well, we have various threads for different things that fill it all up nicely.
