Actually, no. You have to duck right after the fish jumps, or else the fish will outright aim for your ducked position.

Yes, certain parts of the creepypasta were inspired from that! And on a similar note, a lesser-quality Rayman wiki described it as Rayman 'coughing up the last of his magic', and the peculiar description inspired another fanfiction I am currently working on.
