Re: What games are you currently playing?
Okay, I should probably specify when i was talking about Destiny in my previous post I wan't serious, at all, it was really more to emphasise just how good I think Borderlands is, it was extreme hyperbole. To clarify, I don't own Destiny but I've played about 4-5 hours of it at a friends, and I think that's more than enough time to get at least a decent feel for a FPS-RPG hybrid. I don't think Destiny is awful, far from it actually, it's pretty good, but it doesn't grab me as much as Borderlands, there's definitely something good in there, something very good, and there are even things that I hope gearbox and 2K take note of from destiny to implement into a future Borderlands game, or maybe even Battleborn, such as full-blown Raids, rather than 1 single raid boss that you just need to pay Eridium/Moonstones to gain access too, and they did kinda do that in BL2 with the raid on digistruct keep in the second ultimate vault hunter DLC, but it was also easily possible to solo that if you were good enough, kinda defeating the purpose of it being a 'raid', soloing the current raid is just not possible in Destiny, at least not yet.
I do like the gun play in Destiny too, it feels pretty good for a console game, and although I've played borderlands on console a total of once, I can imagine that with really heavy kickback weapons, such as early game shotgun's and assault rifle's, are really annoying to use with a controller, I didn't notice that when I played Destiny and that's kinda pleasant. One thing I don't understand about Destiny though is the fact that you can unlock little bits of lore around the world but to view the lore you have to stop playing the game to go online to view it in your browser, that's just silly, although I understand why Bungie decided to do that, I think they wanted to Mimic what Blizzard does with WoW, between each Raid patch in WoW Blizzard ussually releases a book detailing the story of what's happening lore-wise between patches without shoving it in players who don't care about that kinda stuff's faces, and making a quick buck from those who do care. Bungie probably had the same intentions, wanting to give the option to players who care about story, but the fact its not just in a in-game menu is baffling to me.
Another thing about Destiny that just comes off as confusing to me is the fact its a quasi-mmo... just why? if it went full mmo, having social features like emotes and such, or stuck more traditionally to Borderlands style with Drop-in/out co-op, I think it would have benefited more honestly, because when your in the hub(I believe it's called the tower?) with all the other players, the most interaction you can have, unless your in a party with them, is just staring at them, maybe jumping every now and then. There was no-need for it to be an quasi-mmo, and as I said, if it went full MMO it probably would have been better overall, maybe then it would probably have also been more acceptable for starting plot points in the base game only to save it for a later DLC/Expansion, were as now it just comes off as a way to suck people into buying the DLC. people complain about Borderlands DLC too, but I don't think it's too bad because Gearbox have yet to fall into the trap of making their DLC continuation of the main game's story, bar once, Claptrap's robo-revolution dlc in the first game wrapped up the base game's cliffhanger ending, but beside that each content DLC for borderlands games tends to be their own little story that have little to no relation to the main game were Destiny gives off the feeling that they do.
But as I said, i don't actually think Destiny is bad, not at all, just because I really like the genre, minus the quasi-mmo bull because it makes the game feel like it's having an identity crisis, and i hope there are more Borderlands style games because the ending to pre-sequel suggests that Borderlands 3, if there ever is one, may well be the last in the series, and this is a fun genre, its taking the endless click spamming of a Diablo game and adding some sense of skill required to play it to your full potential.
anyway, on a completely different note, I just tried out this years scream fortress 2 update, put simply, if you like mario kart arena mode, and smash bros, and wondered what would happen if Mario kart's gameplay clashed with SSB's health system, just try it out, you won't be disappointed it's so much fun.

Aaand the first legendary engram I got in Destiny is... class armour for a Warlock... I'm a Titan... the grinding is starting to get to me
Re: What games are you currently playing?
I gave up on playing New Leaf, becomes too much work to keep all the villagers around and happy when you're losing interest in the game. Had a lot of fun with this one though, probably my favourite animal crossing so far.

I still liked Wild World more, there was so much to do in this new one that I found myself a bit overwhelmed. I also liked the roundness of Wild World, that was something neat I wish they'd stuck to. New Leaf is was still fun though.

New Leaf was my first Animal Crossing game and I love it! I played it this week for the first time in months, so I still find it fun.
Recently played Tomadachi Life and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D.

Yeah I did miss the simplicity of Wild World when I first started playing this one. It kinda gave me that feeling of when you enter one of those world of warcraft type games and there's so many menus and options you need to keep track off and it's way too confusing. I liked how they dealt with it though - I never felt like the more complex stuff was thrown at you and you could perfectly ignore it until you were ready to figure it out. The only thing I found really bothersome are some of the useless features that just exist to make the game more difficult or time consuming, but not in a good way. Like being unable to choose where a never villager moves.Adsolution wrote:I still liked Wild World more, there was so much to do in this new one that I found myself a bit overwhelmed. Re: What games are you currently playing?
On the discussion about Destiny/Borderlands, while I don't own Destiny I have like Buildersith played it at friends' places. Maybe it's just that I haven't played enough, but the world of Destiny lacks charm for me. It doesn't capture me like Borderlands did. Granted it might be one of those slow burn games that gradually grows on you, but I know that from the moment I first loaded up Borderlands 1 and heard that unforgettable intro tune, I was hooked. I was completely sold on all aspects of the game and these hooks stayed with me throughout both playthrough 1 and 2 and all 4 DLC expansions (Granted Moxxi's Underdome was a frustrating mess, but lets ignore that shall we). Borderlands 2? Same deal, but this time I knew what I was in for.
The world of Borderlands is just so full of life and wonder, and while the first game lacked level variety and was a game filled with browns and greys, it still holds that same charm. Like I said, the reason I feel this way might be because Destiny is a slow burn but there's something to be said for a game that can get me totally, 100% invested in the first few minutes.
inb4 giant borderlands fanboy.

Hmm, I've played Borderlands, and while I do like its style and humour, it does grate on me after time. I guess I just don't find myself sufficiently captivated in the long run.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
I recently started playing Bayonetta and The Witcher

Re: What games are you currently playing?
If you haven't played Borderlands 2 I'd recommend giving it a shot. It improves on the original in every way and Handsome Jack is a fantastic villain. Claptrap isn't as bad as he was in the original either. (Although I was never too bothered by him. "Come on lets get down! Check me out I'm dancing, I'm dancing!")Master wrote:Hmm, I've played Borderlands, and while I do like its style and humour, it does grate on me after time. I actually managed to convince my friend to play one of my favourite games of all time. It's a seriously under-rated, and a game which hardly anyone knows about. - Secret Weapons Over Normandy. He surprisingly likes the game! Before it was a bit of a joke.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Recently had some really epic online matches on Smash Bros for 3DS in For Glory mode, and earlier today I played Bayonetta 2, trying to clear the game on hard mode, and so far... it's pretty easy actually, yes even on hard.

My WiFi is so terrible that I pretty much never play online unless it's with a friend, it's just too much effort to keep relocating awkwardly to the kitchen to play your handheld device.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
So far so good, but I've only played CE: Anniversary so far

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Has anyone else tried out the Legend of Korra game? I've nearly completed it and it's surprisingly good. It's rough around the edges and some aspects could use some work, but it's still a ton of fun to play.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
Yes, I have read about it, I have not played it yet.
Counter-Strike Condition Zero: Deleted Scenes anyone?

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Ok, I've just finished the Halo 2 Anniversary Campaign, and the most impressive part was definitely the cutscenes. They're just incredible.
The in-game graphics are somewhere between Halo CE Anniversary and Halo 4, and are a huge improvement on the original.
The music has been replaced in a couple of places, but all of the sound is remastered, and it shows big time!
I've unlocked 42 achievements so far, which it tells me is 7% of the entire collection, so my work is just beginning...

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Played a bit of League of Legends these last few days, helping my friends to reach Gold with our ranked 55 team one week before the complete end of Season 4.
Of course, I don't have enough wins to obtain the rewards coming from the team, but my gosh the last game of the promote was epic!
We were 2-2, so we had to win our last match in order to get into Gold. We got beaten up pretty hard during the first 30 minutes, and then we used our team composition to slay at least one of their damage dealers right at the beginning of the fight in order to win it. Back to back to back won fights led us to victory after around 55 minutes. A win from outer space from the promotion
