Look at Master! Just recklessly assuming he uses Word!

If an office application doesn't have auto-recovery, it's not a decent piece of software.
That said, nowhere was it written that iHeckler was using an office application, it could've been Notepad, WordPad or something equivalent.
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
Word does have auto-recovery, but I was writing it on this site. It didn't back-up, sadly.

Ah, guess I shouldn't have made assumptions, that's what I get for trying to answer while on my phone.

I guessed you might have been writing in a browser, but it didn't occur to me that that would be here!

D'oh! I'm sorry to hear that Heckler. I once experienced a similar thing with a full chapter I'd written. Since that day, I always write my chapters in Word first and then post them online once they're done!
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
No trouble now, I have completed the chapter, it was long-awaited anyway. MLII'd be so proud.

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
I remember that movie
Good to see it's still going!
Outside my window I can see a particular cat sitting on the neighbours' bench. This cat, whose name is Bubbles, used to belong to our other neighbours - he would bully our cats and occasionally come into our house at night, but he wasn't a bad guy. He was lured away a few years ago by this woman who lives in a nearby road, who we think used him to fertilise her cats so she could sell the kittens. He wouldn't return home and didn't recognise his name. About a year ago he reappeared on the street, matted and grey and covered in fleas - no doubt ill with HIV and the like as well. He'd clearly been in some battles and had to adapt to the life of a street cat. Of course, by that time next door had bought a new kitten, a very sweet and curious young tangerine (who made a habit of eating our bread until we bought a swanky new robo cat-flap...) I don't think Bubbles had much intention of going home, but cats have territories and newbie was in his. I've had the dubious pleasure of watching them fight a few times. A lady down the road who also owns cats has been leaving food out for him, to avoid having him growling and skulking at everyone's doors. The RSPCA can't get involved quite yet because he's a street cat and would need to be 'contained' for them, though he's a health risk to pretty much everyone right now.
Long story short, I just feel worried about Bubbles. He can't open his eyes properly for the wounds he's sustained. Cats can survive without humans, but even ferals don't live without their family or some kind of substitute. While I think he's found a semblance of contentment now I remember the gorgeous, glossy, cheeky fluffball Bubbles used to be. It breaks my heart. I want to scoop him up and feed him and give him all the love he wasn't able to have these past few years. He's not vicious towards humans, and he's not a natural fighter either. I see him napping neatly on that bench on this cold autumn afternoon and know he could once have been lying in a spiral on the bed, like my babies.
Sorry for the cat rant, but I need to get it out.

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
People generally assume that because cats behave 'so distant' that they don't like company. After living with three cats of my own for 12 years, I've come to realise it's quite the opposite. It's rather that cats are born with a fear of attachment, so to speak - they're afraid they might get betrayed and left alone and so they don't allow you to come too close or appear generally fine doing whatever the hell it is they do when you lose your attention for them. And I'm sure they are fine for the most part, but sometimes - and this is very noticeable - they too crave attention, company, a kind soul. I'm not sure anything on this planet was meant to live truly alone.
Except the married anglerfish. That's a couple that was meant to never see the light of day, dayum.
My point being, I hope Bubbles enjoys what little company he gets from time to time and that he ends up in good care at some point. From your description, he seems to be dealing well with the situation. But coping and being at ease are two states of mind that are worlds apart.

Yes cat definitely like company after a while, well mine did anyhow. Over the years we just grew closer 'nd closer. They definitely get sold short when it comes to attachment.

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
I've been having some major troubles with the math class I've been taking. It's not so much the work that's the problem as it is the way it's presented. Basically, it's all online. We all have to use a free web service called Khan Academy, which is not directly affiliated with the college, but the college requires that students pay a crap ton of money in order to use it. Otherwise, the service is completely free to anyone. There is an "instructor" of sorts, but she's barely there. Like, she doesn't actively teach anyone. She just gives us each a coach for us to work with, but they're not teachers. They can't help us less mathematically-adept to understand how or why something works. We're given a certain number of skills to practice and master by the end of the semester before we take a final exam and that's it.
I and the rest of my family have had to deal with an emotionally draining move along with having to deal with this poor excuse of a class. We have voiced our problems with the class to both our coaches and the "instructor," but they have done very little to help us. They just tell us what we need to do and to do it. Our coaches do at least try to help us, but because they're not actually teachers there's not much they can do. I've done all I can to the best of my ability with this crap and I'm still not close to completing the required set of skills. I was supposed to have 68 skills done by Thanksgiving, but I've barely been able to get over half that much. I still have 20 more to do and the first day of finals period is only two days away. I've hit a wall now. I've gotten to the point where the problems are beyond my understanding of how to solve them. I know I shouldn't give up, but I am just so sick and tired of this bullcrap.

oh gosh gwee i'm sorry X: i wish i could help more! but i don't know how this sort of thing works
ok i know i post here a lot but i'm kind of getting pissed off at the wander over yonder fandom specifically the tumblr side of it
basically a female character did something kind of shitty, and never apologised, and even though everyone was cool with each other at the end and it was fine people were kind of like "hold on a minute that was still kind of rude"
cue tumblr bursting in like HOW DARE YOU INSULT THIS FEMALE CHARACTER WHO IS FEMALE and pulling all this bullshit excuses out of their ass to try and justify it?? and make it like not her fault??
and it's all bullshit like. apparently if you do nice things for someone sometimes (ike saving their life, say) you can basically treat them how you want and you recieve no comeuppance for it because you were nice once??
i mean in the great scheme of things what she did wasn't that bad. nobody's that mad about it. they just think it's sort of rude. but the tag's all OMG YOU'RE ALL GETTING SO MAD ABOUT THIS GO OUTSIDE AND STOP HATING ON OUR PRECIOUS FEMINIST ICON um literaly no we're not?? we just thought she was kind of being a dick???
then again everyone in this fandom is 13 so

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
I've been blacklisting Wander spoilers since I'd rather actually make use of my sky subscription and watch them when DXD here can actually get their butts together and bring all the episodes over here so I've yet to see what the Sylvia thing is, but yeah not having a lot of luck getting to know many peeps in the fandom yet (eg I was on an anniversary stream some time back because I wanted to try and chat but one individual was whining about how another individual took over streaming for whatever technical reason it was and I was thinking "give it a rest").

Well that's no biggie, people are always posting gifs that are not tagged so I'm always getting a gist in some way.
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
Tumblr. An enjoyable site but has some of the stupidest people to roam the Earth. Be me, scrolling through the Gravity Falls tag and then stumble upon a text post. Poster posted saying not to WHITEWASH the Pines twins by drawing them in Christmas fanart.
WHITEWASH THEM WITH CHRISTMAS...
