Big Hero 6 turned out surprisingly better than I expected.

Hm, I want to see that along with The Boxtrolls and Book of Life. I'm looking forward to the latter the most, it looks really creative, and those character designs are just yeess.

Missed out on Book of Life due to homework loads, but from what I've heard it's supposedly a great movie. Supposed to be turned into a trilogy, but seeing the terribly low amount of money it's making, I kinda doubt that.

Big Hero 6 is probably tied with the Lego Movie as my second favorite movie of the year. I even think it's better than Wreck-it-Ralph.

I saw Hot Fuzz all the way through for the first time last week. Amazing.
A little while before that it was Armageddon with Buscemi and Willis. Fantastic!

I just watched the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie tonight.

Let's pass all the hate from the fans, the fact it's not COMPLETELY like the original story, etc, etc...(come on, guys, wanna talk about the Raimi's Spiderman Trilogy? Ya know what I mean, these ones were actually pretty good in my opinion, and somewhat better than The Amazing Spiderman, supposedly closer to the original story).

The story in itself is "classic": a bad guy is going to take over the city, there is a traitor working with him, the nice girl nobody trusts finds the good guys and worked with them, and there is the sidekick dude, not dumb but, ya know, playing the sidekick.

Overall, the movie is keeping the NT flavour (pizza one, eh :D...even Splinter keeps pressuring his boys with dem 99 cheese :P), but with a more modern touch (smartphones, updated armour for Shredder, the gag with the cat playing piano with chopsticks, ROFL...). The characters kept their original personality, even if I feel April is smarter than usual. SFX are well-placed and nice (yes they are not amazing and off-the-charts, because that is actually very hard to do nowadays with blockbusters. I'd say what's harder to do is to "link" them with the overall ambiance of the movie, which is sometimes not that easy to do). Stop-motion parts, especially, happen at the right place at the right time, are not overused, or not out-of-place (I particularly liked the one where Donatello is making a pick-up jump by using his staff...).

The link between April and the mutants could have been made in another way, and is far from the original story, but due to its importance in a certain amount of crucial parts of the movie, I considered it A-OK for the plot of a movie.

TL;DR: This movie is like the trilogy from the early 90's, but adapted to its time and with a good April (for once, Megan Fox is not playing the usual "supa hot but shallow" girl). As an "average" blockbuster in its category (adapted from a comics), if you are not a big NT fan, it's a good one, but if you are, you will probably be a bit disappointed. But eh, if it was very true to NT's roots, way less people would have been interested (not saying they are uninteresting, they are simply less popular than Batman or Marvel's stuff...).

I was invited to a friend's birthday to the cinema and we watched Interstellar, and I just arrived home (it's midnight!)
That was the BEST movie I ever watched!! It's soo increadibly awsome! It's like they clashed everything I most like into one singular product :')
I cried after the movie ended, seriously!

I just watched Interstellar too!

Seriously, out of the many movies I've watched, I probably only liked about 20 or so. Seriously.
A few of them are: Inception, Donny Darko, Moon etc.

I'm very particular with movies, and if they're just mostly action, then I'll probably hate it (I even thought this would be bad at first, infact I thought it would be like Gravity. Gravity sucked. Blegh.

This movie is definately in the top 5. It was really, really, really good. It was like a mix of the 3 movies I mentioned, except I understood it (almost) completely on my first watch, which is not something I mind but I know some people hate rewatching movies, so thats a plus I guess.

And it had the 4th dimension, worm holes, bending space and many other unseen phenomenon beautifully represented by amazing visual work, and they where actually based on fact (kind of), instead of random imaginings.

I would really recommend this to everyone. It's long though, I didn't mind but I think it was like 3 hours...

Funny thing I should mention, in school we're currently having Einstein's relativity theory as subject.

I watched "The Heat" in the other day and it was super fun! McCarthy is the best thing in the whole movie. :mryellow:

I watched an anime movie called Patema Inverted the other day. It was incredibly compelling in concept and execution. It's basically about these two groups of people who exist in the same universe, but they operate on opposing laws of gravity. One of them travels to the surface from underground and discovers that the people and the objects from the surface world are completely inverted. Everything is upside-down. The concept itself is actually pretty hard to describe unless you see it for yourself. And there are a couple of twists that are really mind-blowing once you know the backstory of why the two groups of people are inverted to one another. I highly recommend you seek out a high quality version of the movie. It is absolutely stunning.

Another anime movie I watched on the same day as Patema Inverted was Wolf Children. It's about a girl in college who falls in love with a young man who turns out to be a werewolf, but not the traditionally vicious werewolf you commonly see. The two end up having kids together who are both werewolves, so they constantly switch from human to wolf. The father ends up dying after the second child is born, leaving the mother to raise two kids. It's all told by the daughter, but the story is really about the mother and how she deals with raising two young werewolves in a world that may very well reject them as they form their own life paths. It's a cute and kind of happy/sad story. I also highly recommend it. Find the English dub if you can.

Finally I've gotten around to watching Inception and I have to say, it's absolutely brilliant. I love it. The execution is marvelously done and the presentation is amazing. Oh and I'm fairly sure I've got a good grasp on the whole plot and what exactly happens, but I'll definitely need to rewatch it to make sure.

Yeah, I love movies you have to re-watch to get everything sorted out.

On the subject of anime, it's not a movie, but I did get a DVD of the full series of "Baccano!" recently.
I highly reccomend everyone watch it, it's fucking incredible and my favorite of the 100+ anime series I've watched.

It's about alchemy, immortality, gangs, murder, supernatural beings and a train. A fecken train, guys. And it's set in the 1930s.
The music is the best I've ever heard in any TV production, and the format is original and incredible, jumping from time to time and from place to place every 10 minutes or so, and as you watch the incredibly complicated plot fits together into a beautiful picture that makes perfect sense.

Even if you don't like anime, this is not your typical main character good guy saves the day anime, as there are no good guys, there are no bad guys, and there are no main characters. Yeah, that's right, no main characters (or, if you pick out the ones with the most screen time, probably about 15-20 main characters). The anime doesn't automatically choose who is good and bad for you, nor does it really antagonise or protagonise anyone, you can pick and choose who you want. (my favorites are Ladd Russo and Jacuzzi Splot. There's a guy called Jacuzzi in this, so you have to watch it.)

Just watch it. It may not be for you, one of my friends didn't like it (cause he's dumb huehuehue) but I'm sure many of you will if you watch it to the end, including the 3 specials that are actually relevant to the plot instead of some dumb fan-cervice plotless rubbish. Something else to mention, actually, is that this anime is an 18. There's no nudity, but it gets very violent at parts... Still, watch it now.

Brave. Here's my short review on it: My least favorite Pixar movie and the least enjoyable movie they produced. It was just boring and nothing worth remembering to be honest.

What did you hate about it? It's definitely one of my favourite movies from last year.

Ehh, I think it might come out anyway at some point. But from what I understand it isn't that good of a movie anyway.

The last Hobbit film was kinda the same quality as the other two. It's not Lord of the Rings and it's flawed in quite a few ways, but I was able to forgive it and have a good time with it. I dunno, I just can't help but like these movies.

Likewise, they're enjoyable, but I feel LOTR was done better.
