I thought RO and RL were great games, but i agree that they don't have that same emotional touch that alot of people grew up with.

I wonder why Ubisoft will didn't publish this: https://raymanpc.com/wiki/en/Rayman_4_( ... prototype) among few years!? Aside personal opinions, it's a project that remained completely wasted.
Next year Rayman celebrates its 20° anniversary, I wonder why Ubisoft not consider this opportunity!? Mystery of faith -.-

Anyways, I don't exactly hate him but I really don't like Mr. Dark. Sure he looks cool but he doesn't feel like a threat at all. Just my honest opinion.

Does anyone consider razorbeard threatening by any chance?
he doesn't come across as a character who is creepy to me , more so a character who is trying to hard.

Razorbeard is both amazing and disturbing.

I feel they made him less threatening with the voice in rayman revolution (my favourite rayman 2 port to date).

Sure he blew up the Heart of the World. Sure he enslaved almost everyone. Sure he captured Rayman.

But his appearance. It's hilarious.

I am pretty sure he is also known as razorface.... (bursts out laughing) , razorwife only makes him less threatening, she bullies him ( rayman m- dislikes- his wifes rolling pin).

I hate Razorwife... ugh... I don't even know how to describe her.

The acting in Rayman Revolution is garbage. Defaulting to the gibberish, I found Razorbeard to be a robot who was probably assembled [by 'man'] a long time ago for some completely different purpose, but clearly grew bitter, and his stubby size is one of his follies.

A folly to him ,but classic humor to the rest of us.

Why does everyone hate Razorwife?! SHE'S AMAZING hahaha, totally amusing especially with the Rayman M theme song.

razorwife: i don't like the idea with her bullying her husband - razorbeard - the badass boss in r2 - the one who destroyed the heart of the world, put all people in slavery - bullied by his wife? ...............that makes him look so much less badass >.<

and tily: well... i don't really like her colours and her noises while the playing are annoying... but i find her a little bit cute (even if i really rather had ly in rayman m)

but i hate the moths in band land! grr >.<

and actually i really didn't like anyone in the animated series... that squeezing flip, razorbeard being oppressed again, all the beings looking like razoff, betina...

then upstage rayman (gooosh was i happy to see rayman origins after YEARS!!!)
and then even getting their own series (i know, i don't like the rayman animated series but.... why no other improved rayman series???)

The Knaaren were less threatening with the things they said i mean 'Tear of his flesh' and 'crush his bones' scared me but 'does anybody have any cough syrup' and 'make him write bad checks' just made me laugh, even still i thought they were scarier than Reflux.
But yeah Rabbids have horrible personality (although i think there games are ok), and Razorwife i still do not like despite how friggin hilarious she looks.

I am very happy RR has option for English subtitles and French voices. I wish Rayman 3 HD has that since it introduced subtitle option which was not in original version, but sadly it all depends on your console language and cannot combine subtitles and voice languages. I remember even asking Droolie once, can in PC version sound files be swapped so I can get most of English text possible for PC version and French voices, but it seems it is more complex than what I thought.

Although to be fair, R3 Voice Acting on English was not bad. I am just that type of person who prefers Original audio in everything no matter what language or game it is. If I want to play Witcher, I would play it on Polish for example because that is original dub.

I think raymanian should be an official language, rayman games are probably better off with subtitles and wacky sound effects, their voice acting isn't anything special anyway.

They convey different things, really, so it depends on what the developers are going for. The English voice acting in Rayman 3 works for the same reason I think it didn't in Rayman 2. Rayman 2 was an exotic landscape that felt as if it really took place in a foreign yet completely cohesive universe where few of its landscapes made much physical sense to Earthlings anyway. Rayman 3 was generally much more aesthetically familiar, despite most areas in my opinion being more visually beautiful.

Additionally, almost all of the dialogue in Rayman 2 was idle, so you could read it at your own pace, and the large dialogue boxes weren't intrusive, which actually restricts a lot of what can be done. Take Rayman 3 for instance, at the spiral staircase toward the final battle, Reflux and André are going back and forth through the ceiling. That couldn't have been achieved with gibberish, unless you wanted to stop and read the subtitles every time which would be more effort than it's worth, and I think the humour would flat.

Now that i think about it, you are right in saying that voices worked better in Rayman 3 ( regardless of quality, to which i agree is decent), and that dialogue boxes would either spoil the mood and/or jokes , distract you, or not work in how the game progresses, most of the talking in Rayman 3 probably wasn't idle (or at least quite a bit) , like Andre and Globox talking ect.

Mine is Reflux. He's menacing... But that's really all we know about him! Nothing else!

UPDATE: Now it's got to be the Magicians from origins and legends. Changing the long haired magician from Rayman's species to the teensies was really dumb in my opinion, and the fact that their the only villains to come back in a main console Rayman game as the villain makes me cringe. We know even less about the magician teensies than Reflux!
