I actually much prefer the blue/red dynamic presence and colours of the Japanese box art for this game, that landscape is just gushing with creativity. The English cover may be more 'badass', but most of the colours feel very stale to me.sergiomonty wrote:Are you kidding me? This thing just takes regular artworks from the game and make it look "kawaii". This seems like a pretty cheap response to the Kirby formula, where everything looks badass in America and Europe and everything looks adorable and cute in Japan. I mean... look at these flowers, If I checked properly, only one level in the entire game had that amount of flowers.
Also, there's no possible way that cover is better than this one:

16 levels is barely even a quarter of the game. There's over 120 levels, including the invasion and back to origins levels.globolk wrote:i'll have the game next thursday. i was wondering, will the amount of lums i've gotten from the challenges app will be transfered to the final game? i know the awesomeness level and cups, but lums too? i have enough to unlock a MAJORITY of the characters in legends... also, do the 90 levels in the game include invasion levels? because i've already spoiled 16 levels, is that, like half the game?!

Re: Rayman Legends
Colour is something, but certainly not everything to define something as creative. The composition of the image is also important, something that the japanese box art has messed up. It literally looks like a very compressed collage of artworks in one of the backgrounds, and I could easily make that with Droolie's sprites... or make something even better (In fact, if you challenge me, I could do a replica). The US/EU box art is way better. It doesn't have colours spread everywhere, but has the perfect amount of them to give an authentic atmosphere. You can see that everything is darker, but that's because that fits the ruin-like area where Rayman and friends are located. The only part where you truly see bright colors is in Rayman's face, and that's because the Dragon is going to breath fire. The colours in the japanese box art are inconsistent. SURE, the flowers look gorgeous and... uh... "gushing with creativity" as you say (I don't see anything particularly creative in them), but have you at least checked how fucked up the colour palette is? Rayman looks too bright and overly colorful, like he's on daytime, while most of the events in the box art take place at night. Also, the area where Barbara is located is way too awful... like, they didn't find any place in the image to put her, so they cornered her there.Adsolution wrote:I actually much prefer the blue/red dynamic presence and colours of the Japanese box art for this game, that landscape is just gushing with creativity. Re: Rayman Legends
I have to agree with sergio on this one. The European boxart is a lot better. Although the boxart sergio linked to is quite desaturated and makes me prefer the Japanese one too. Here's the boxart with the right contrast.
Plus, on the Japanese boxart, Rayman's feet are disturbingly close to his body, and one of his fists is way larger than the other. He looks deformed. :/

Sergio, I'm not arguing with you whatsoever, I simply enjoy the Jap one more, likely because it evokes something in my own mind; the art affects me differently.

Re: Rayman Legends
Hmm. maybe I should get the japanese instead...
Re: Rayman Legends
It does for me too, but I find that the European boxart does a better job of representing the game: it's about Rayman beating up dragons and Murfy dragging stuff around with rings. The game is also more "FUCK YES BARBARA!!" (I wish it wasn't) than "FUCK YES GLOBOX!!" which is why Barbara is the only character featured apart from Rayman and Murfy.Adsolution wrote:I simply enjoy the Jap one more, likely because it evokes something in my own mind; the art affects me differently.
I wish the European box art had better atmosphere though. There is a lot more atmosphere in the Japanese art, but it is the wrong kind of atmosphere. We only get those colourful flowers in one level, while you can generally expect a lot of greenish and death-themed levels in Rayman Legends.

Guys, remember me to NEVER preorder games in Portugal again. I went to FNAC and I got told the game is delayed (with no prediction date from the distributor) because the national distributor does not work in August. What a marvel! I would have litterally punched someone for real if I didn't buy the Steam version before, but I am truly upset that I will play the Wii U version later. When I arrive home I will order somewhere from UK, and it is the british who win with this, I already do not care. Sorry for my bitter post but I am boiling.

I spent a LONG time looking at all those sprites, and I found [ Paintings for normal Land of the Livid Dead levels. Could this prove LOTLD to be a normal world, or have we already figured the truth out and I'm just late? ]
Re: Rayman Legends
They're for online challenges and "rescue the princess" challenges (mostly the same thing).TheTempurmental wrote:I spent a LONG time looking at all those sprites, and I found [ Paintings for normal Land of the Livid Dead levels. Me neither, I'm just pointing out from an artistic standpoint the negative aspects of the artwork that you happen to likeAdsolution wrote:Sergio, I'm not arguing with you whatsoever, I simply enjoy the Jap one more, likely because it evokes something in my own mind; the art affects me differently.
You still have the right to have your personal tastes.
Re: Rayman Legends
Now that sucks. Distributor should really get fired. Does not work in August? What kind of bullshit is that? Now I do understand everyone needs vacation but delaying games?Haruka wrote:Guys, remember me to NEVER preorder games in Portugal again. That must suck! Don't they have more than one employers working at layers? Or do they all have holidays at the same time?Haruka wrote:Guys, remember me to NEVER preorder games in Portugal again. I don't understand why would they all have vacation at the same time, and if there is only one, that is just bad.

Stories like that make me scared to preorder games. I'm content with just going to the store and buying them on release day.Haruka wrote:Guys, remember me to NEVER preorder games in Portugal again. I still have my confidence to amazon. Stories from that kind won't take any effect unless it was from amazon.TheTempurmental wrote:Stories like that make me scared to preorder games. I'm content with just going to the store and buying them on release day.

Re: Rayman Legends
Given how little I've actually paid attention to information on the game (I want to experience it all for the first time when playing), you're probably right. I was under the assumption that there were more levels like the one in the Japanese box art.Drolpiraat wrote:It does for me too, but I find that the European boxart does a better job of representing the game: it's about Rayman beating up dragons and Murfy dragging stuff around with rings.
