Since I see a difference between annoying and difficult, I won't list those levels I didn't manage to beat in only a few tries.
The most annoying level is the third part of Pencil Pentathlon, really. You can tell me whatever you want; even WITH those tings guiding you it's a hard piece of work to get down through that maze. Just a single wrong step and you're up again. I HATE that! @_@
There are also two levels at the Blue Mountains which are quite annoying.
The first part of Mr Stone's Peaks, where you have to navigate with your helicopter through a maze of spines. It's not difficult, but you have to pay attention ALL THE TIME. Bleh.
And last, the third part of The Hard Rocks. Why? I just get lost every time I visit that level. I don't know how, but every corner looks the same to me and I don't know where I am. Especially when I'm not in search for the goal but for the cages or extra lives. x_x;

I didn't like the Pencil Pentathlon levels, especially that phase with all the rubbers!

So when someone adds links to the wiki, (s)he gets praised, but when someone colours mods' names, it's annoying.

Yes. That is correct.

~The level with the rubbers? Challenging enough. Not too hard once you master the use-the-helicopter-to-stop-Rayman-mid-bounce thing.

I still think that Space Mama's Crater level (1st attempt, not after defeating Space Mama) is the hardest level of the game, not the Pencil Penthatlon or The Hard Rocks or Allegro Presto.

Picture City in the original version (i.e. not Rayman Advance) is just irritatingly hard in general for me. I never finished it.

I only finished Rayman Advance, not R1 PSone. I MUST DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT!

I think it's easier the PS1 version due to the screen's size but I still haven't played 100% the Advance version.

The DS version of R1 cuts off about 30% of the screen - but you get so many more health points. That entire game annoyed me like nothing else.

Well the N-GAGE version of R3, the screen is smaller but the gameplay isn't affected. The health points are the same as on GBA version.

Hold on! How come everyone seems to know about a DS or DSi version of R1, yet this is the first I've heard of it? When did it come out?

Everything on the N-GAGE version is equal to the GBA, except the screen is smaller, the graphics are better and there are around 4 levels that are adapted to N-GAGE.

If I'm not in error, the DSi version of Rayman 1 was released on 7th December of 2009.

What about R1 GBC levels? More annoying, less annoying, equally annoying in comparison to the console versions?

The R1 from GBC is quite different from the other versions: different levels, different areas, different soundtrack, a different and even a different ending. As I said: it's quite different. By the way, I'm currently uploading my videos from that game on Youtube, feel free to check out.

My memory is vague, but on Rayman Gold, I was sent into rages of anger in that level after Band Land, where there were these invincible rock men! That was the most annoying level for me!

Twilight Gulch?

The Stonemen aren't big deal as long you can avoid or break the Rocks they throw.

Well, I was a kid then, so my inexperience costed me dearly.

Twilight Gulch, mainly for the cage near that Purple Lum, that requires Speed Up fists, and a good timed jump, I always end up with that cage last, the other levels give me no problem.
