Well, it’s 90% of the Olympus maximus world in Rayman Adventures, I suppose
I forgot Adventures existedGreengoop wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 7:59 am Well, it’s 90% of the Olympus maximus world in Rayman Adventures, I suppose![]()
True, but Legends has the least story of any "main series" game (if you can call it that). Those of Rayman 1 and 2 are pretty simple, but they do the trick. Their purpose is only to introduce the games, give them a direction and justify the hero's adventures. Rayman 3 is a bit more interesting in that regard: the premise is fairly basic too, but various things happen throughout the game. Origins is probably the worst in my opinion, because they came up with a pretty bad story, realized it was bad and decided to cut it from the final game, only there's plenty of remaining bits of it and the end result is terribly confusing and probably even worse than the original idea. And finally, you've got Legends, with basically no story whatsoever other than "Rayman saw a tent with paintings inside". At least that one did not really create any confusion.
I choose to believe this is the actual story, but as someone said to me before (I forgot where and who), this doesn't exactly happen in the game.Hunchman801 wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 4:47 pm And finally, you've got Legends, with basically no story whatsoever other than "Rayman saw a tent with paintings inside". Origins is the worst in terms of story. It wasn't even that bad of a story either, they just cut it just to cut it, I guess. It actually made a lot of sense, too.Hunchman801 wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 4:47 pm Origins is probably the worst in my opinion, because they came up with a pretty bad story, realized it was bad and decided to cut it from the final game, only there's plenty of remaining bits of it and the end result is terribly confusing and probably even worse than the original idea.
In other words, we should just start calling Rayman Legends a Rayman-themed bootleg 2D version of Super Mario 64! Although I would still choose SM64!WPTheModder wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 5:29 pmI choose to believe this is the actual story, but as someone said to me before (I forgot where and who), this doesn't exactly happen in the game.Hunchman801 wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 4:47 pm And finally, you've got Legends, with basically no story whatsoever other than "Rayman saw a tent with paintings inside". They just go back to sleep for... a 100 years somehow, and now all of the Origins worlds, instead of evolving they just turn into their own things.
I still like the concept of the tent more though. It's interesting and fun![]()
I definitely respect that about those games. Knowing it’s absolutely drenched in lore really puts me off playing some stuffHunchman801 wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 4:47 pm Those of Rayman 1 and 2 are pretty simple, but they do the trick. Well, I still think the story is still very basic, but I agree it’s kinda got a lot more steps than the first twoHunchman801 wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 4:47 pm Rayman 3 is a bit more interesting in that regard: the premise is fairly basic too, but various things happen throughout the game.
Agree with this 100%. Though some of the “confusing” stuff is just because some rayman fans are deadass thickHunchman801 wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 4:47 pm Origins is probably the worst in my opinion, because they came up with a pretty bad story, realized it was bad and decided to cut it from the final game, only there's plenty of remaining bits of it and the end result is terribly confusing and probably even worse than the original idea.
I’ve kinda just thought of it as a parody of the “100 year sleeps” in high fantasy, since Teensies in Trouble is essentially just thatWPTheModder wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 5:29 pm They just go back to sleep for... a 100 years somehow, and now all of the Origins worlds, instead of evolving they just turn into their own things.
Mind elaborating? What do you mean by this?Greengoop wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 7:48 am Agree with this 100%. Though some of the “confusing” stuff is just because some rayman fans are deadass thick
I have never heard of this trope in media. Maybe it's because I don't watch fantasy related movies/showsGreengoop wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 7:48 am I’ve kinda just thought of it as a parody of the “100 year sleeps” in high fantasy, since Teensies in Trouble is essentially just that
Like how the joke with the magician in Origins is that his disguise of a star on his hat is so obviously bad, and rayman still falls for it because he’s an idiot. Or how the relic cutscenes are supposed to symbolise ancient myths, though that one might be a bit more subtleWPTheModder wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 3:56 pmMind elaborating? ....Okay, I admittedly fell for the frescos (I'm just calling them this since that's what they're called on RaytunesGreengoop wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 4:18 pm Like how the joke with the magician in Origins is that his disguise of a star on his hat is so obviously bad, and rayman still falls for it because he’s an idiot. What about the magician reveal was funny? Aside from the dancing nothing about it was funny. And you have played Ubiart games long enough now to know what Rayman is like. Everything else has more personality than the characters themselves.Greengoop wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 4:18 pm Like how the joke with the magician in Origins is that his disguise of a star on his hat is so obviously bad, and rayman still falls for it because he’s an idiot. It’s ok I can forgive your sin of believing that the Rayman hair creature story was true. If you had not stated Rayman Origins was your first game then I’d have a different tone.WPTheModder wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 5:39 pm

I wasn't THAT dumb. I thought that was utter nonsense, but I still believed the Globox oneThe Jonster wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 6:45 pm It’s ok I can forgive your sin of believing that the Rayman hair creature story was true. As I state here, i just chose to believe whatever I wanted was true/false since there's zero story to go off of anywaysWPTheModder wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 5:39 pm Or that's just what I choose to think. I have a lot of random theories about Origins since you have to fill in the blanks with the story![]()
Jokes don’t have to be funny, they just have to work. Besides, do you think “oh, how unfunny, this show is so garbage compared to Natroto and Dragingballs” whenever you see Jessie and James show up in their god awful disguises and Ash falling for them? No, you just have a grudge against Ubi art gamesThe Jonster wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 6:45 pm What about the magician reveal was funny? Aside from the dancing nothing about it was funny. I understand in that case then, at one point I did believe this story too.WPTheModder wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 6:59 pmI wasn't THAT dumb. The concept of the Globox one isn't that bad I'd say. Just lazy.Greengoop wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 3:23 pm I absolutely despise both the relic stories, some games are just better without lore, including rayman
I mean, I knew it had a PSVITA port and erotic YouTube parodies, but holy fuck this is newWPTheModder wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 5:13 pm I agree with that last part though. Did you know that My Singing Monsters (a game that's literally for little kids) has intensive lore that people ACTUALLY follow? It's a game... about singing monsters.
Erotic... what?Greengoop wrote: Sun Jan 19, 2025 6:22 pm I mean, I knew it had a PSVITA port and erotic YouTube parodies, but holy fuck this is new![]()
