< does believe that USB-C is quite versatile in that regard for the retro consoles. Especially considering the aging wall wart capacitors. Which at least it does seem the one for the Sega Genesis is one you can more easily open up to replace, if you have the know-how and safety in mind, of course.

< thinks it will even be better for the PAL SNES due to the fact that ours takes in AC, but it also works on DC. Apparently just using DC is better for the console anyway, so < has no idea why they gave us AC.
< says we'll see soon how it pans out, so long as the power delivery can deliver 9v from the adapter < bought. < will probably start posting
here about it once < gets all the stuff < ordered. < had changed the title of the topic to make it about modern solutions for retro consoles, since it seems more fitting and gives it more variety to discuss these things.

< knows that ^ will be getting to try these out before < will for any of <'s systems. < is excited to see how things go for ^!

< finally got round to installing Raycarrot's Rayman Control Panel. It's a remarkable feat, so user-friendly. It made < realize that digital products really give off the feel of whether it was made out of passion or out of some formulated corporate process.
Anyway, < installed the high quality textures mod for Rayman 2, but this introduced the Pirate Head, which is unfortunate. There is a mod to remove it, but < didn't bother to check if that will also undo all the crazy glitches that happen when the game thinks it has been pirated.

Come to think of it, < never has tried doing HQ textures on Rayman 2 yet, < has only done so with Rayman 3.

Let's try it!
Apparently the mod for removing the DRM works for all the progression blockers, not just the pirate head, so < will give it a try at some point.

< wonders if you've seen Robin's video enumerating these so-called "glitches" (actually deliberate sabotage by the developers)

< still thinks it's crazy how they did this.

< wanted to get a capacitor list put together for the power supply and the audio amplifier within <'s 486 desktop with the built-in speakers. It's too involving to do so tonight since the front cover has to be removed for better access to the amp and the PSU won't be as easy to read the value on some of the capacitors like the previous unit < looked into.
The joys of electronics.

Yes, < had seen it. That's why < was scared the remove-pirate-head mod might not be enough!

It is, and kinda cool in <'s opinion, although apparently it even triggered not only on modded legitimate copies, but unmodded legitimate copies, which is rather shameful.

< got absolutely pummelled yesterday at football practice (special teams special, yo), but < has no bodyparts hurting this morning. Maybe the pain signal hasn't reached the brain yet.

They're fun until they fail.

< recalls hearing about safedisc if that's what it's about. < is only aware of this happening on modern systems, though yeah it's still a bit of a shame. It's kind of interesting they went through that much effort in regards to piracy (while using the pirate head

), where they literally broke certain things, rendering it so the game can't be finished. This seems like a lot of extra steps and going the extra mile just to try prevent piracy at the time.

< is actually awake in the morning for once. < knows, shocking right?
< kept waking up and just decided well why not just get up. Maybe it's the start of trying to sleep at reasonable times (even more so when the clocks go back in a few days).

< doesn't believe Safedisc has anything to do with the pirate head, it's just that some copies of the game shipped with incorrect checksums

< isn't sure why those copies work fine on some machines but not others...

Oh yikes. < wasn't aware of this, but that sounds like a big error. <'s copy worked fine when < had a CD drive at some stage. < forgets exactly which copy < has now though.
EDIT: < thinks it's the one that said "revival" on the case.
EDIT2: Oops, it's not that actually, it's "Fun Club".

< feels those filters are in place for a reason. School is supposed to be for learning / education, which will help one with their future career. It's not supposed to be a building where people gather and use social media. < feels people are way too addicted to social media these days, and the schools are probably fully aware of this issue.

Eh, < isnt accessing the websites during work or anything. < feels like < has a right to bypass them.
< also finds it riduclous how the school wifi blocks the programs on <'s computer and phone. < finds that excessive.
Also < is really advanced in most of <'s classes. < has found <'self getting bullied for... being adanced in class? Teenagers will bully over the dumbest stuff!

<'d argue there's also the matter of safeguarding, both of mental health, and of the school's IT.
< would imagine the resilience of a school's digital infrastructure is not going to be the best.
