I have recently gone back to play this on an actual GBA again. I think that isometric games were never that great on the GBA, I have been playing Spyro season of ice and that really sucks because of depth perception and bottomless pits. On the whole, it is still an easy game which I manage to get through within a week with all specials levels unlocked. The game glitched though as even though I have all the lums and stamps apparently I have not unlocked the final bonus level... I might be in the minority to say that I prefer it to Rayman 3 GBA.

Have you played Rayman Raving Rabbids for the GBA too? How does it compare to Hoodlum's Revenge?

Rayman Raving Rabbids for GBA is a standard run of the mill 2D platformer. It's lot like Rayman 3 for the GBA, only with somewhat less variety and less inspired level design.

I agree. The gameplay also feels a lot less precise than in Rayman 3 GBA (this is one of the things that made the original Rayman game so cool).
Actually, I think the best thing about Raving Rabbids GBA is all the cut Rayman 4 content.

Yeah, I'm really not a fan of the RRR GBA sprites myself to be fair.

I prefer R3 GBA over RRR GBA myself tbh.

The sprites in Rayman Raving Rabbids (GBA) actually scare me a bit.
I didn't really like seeing them when I saw them for the first time when I was younger.
I can remember when I was like seven, I was watching a video of the final boss on this game. When I actually saw it, I jumped and ran from the chair and the computer, embarrassingly, enough.

Rayman looks like he's in pain in RRR GBA, possibly because it's not the Rayman 4 he wanted to be in.

Yeah the sprites pale in comparison to the other game. I dunno why though

You'd expect the opposite since RRR was newer.

The sprites in Rayman 1 still beat the ones in both R3 GBA and RRR GBA either way, even with the game being much older.

No wonder! This game is a mashup of the Rabbids universe with unused content from the
cancelled Rayman 4. In fact, the
fountain pen in the image you posted was actually meant to appear in the latter!

I always thought that RRR on gba was a little strange but also super lazy. I remember getting all lums and cages and nothing happening. That gate in the middle always seemed like a special thing but guess not. After watching Framerater vid on it I realised how buggy the NA version was. I have the EU version so it plays "fine".

Is there a difference between EU and NA versions? If so, that makes me a little curious to try the EU version (i've only played NA version).

I don't think there are any major differences in the games. I notice that the EU version did come out a little bit later so maybe they fixed some bugs.
This is one major bug that I never encountered:

Interesting, I’ve played the entire game at least once (had to use emulator) but I never encountered this bug/glitch either. Then again it may have something to do with the fact that he seems to be playing using the Game Boy Player disc for GC...

I would highly doubt it has anything to do with the game boy player considering it is not emulation but just the GBA hardware mounted to the bottom of the Gamecube. I have a Gameboy player so I will give a go with the EU copy at some stage.
