We have some
new Rayman content! It isn't a new game, but it seems interesting. What are your thoughts on this?
Discover Rayman® like never before in an all-new board game adventure! Team up with your favorite heroes in an epic race, dodging dangers and saving the Teensies! Designed by the acclaimed Maxime Tardif (EARTH) and FLYOS, the game promises thrilling action for 2 to 5 players, ages 7 to 77. Become a legend in the Glade of Dreams, and be ready for the launch in Q3 2024.
This is just insane, I didn’t even believe it at first! Like wowza a Rayman BOARD GAME! How ?! They’d literally do everything but give us a new video game title.

Also, I wonder how they define what is the maximum age for playing this game.
It's just a phrase that was apparently coined by the
Tintin magazine in 1947. It's often used for tabletop games.
I see, I didn't know about the origin of that phrase, thanks!

I still wonder why they thought 78 year olds can’t play…

So then it's not official? Then how is that legal?
Or are Ubi just too cheap to stump up the full investment?

Weird.
"Become a legend in the Glade of Dreams, and be ready for the launch in Q3 2024."
https://www.raymanboardgame.com/
That implies it's definitely happening. Meanwhile while the kickstarter page says "coming soon", which would imply they haven't even secured the funds.

It's not just Kickstarter that seems to be a new element, the description's changed as well:
Discover Rayman® like never before in an all-new board game adventure! Team up with your favorite heroes in an epic race, dodging dangers and saving the Teensies! Designed by the acclaimed Maxime Tardif (EARTH) and FLYOS, the game promises thrilling action for 1 to 4 players (8+). Become a legend in the Glade of Dreams, and be ready for the launch in Q3 2024.
On the Kickstarter page it says:
Become a legend in the Glade of Dreams! Pick your hero, dodge obstacles, and save the Teensies in epic races for 1 to 4 players!
Looks like they've changed the age rating (or at least how they're defining it), and making it so you can play it in single-player too. Which might make it more appealing for those of us who may not know many folks irl who'd be down to playing a board game based on a 30 year old franchise that hasn't had a mainline entry in a decade.

I'm pretty sure it is actually official, and seems like Ubi does this for all their board game projects, including
Rainbow Six Siege or
Heroes of Might and Magic III...
I don't know the exact reason why we must fund any of them ourselves, but it sounds very scummy from a company with so much money IMO... Just Ubi being Ubey.

I even found many complaints regarding the different companies making those games on Ubi's behalf, such as no pledge rewards being actually sent or barely any customer support. All of this seems very suspicious if you ask me...

I can understand that they may want to see how many people will commit to buy before committing to creating the product, but an IP owner should be funding the product with plain purchases, not charity. I recommend not supporting this product until some kind of acknowledgement or explanation surfaces.

It seems to be common practice in the board game industry, like for example the Resident Evil ones made by Steamforged Games. No doubt that Capcom has the cash to fund them, but they seem to prefer a risk-free approach where they - I assume - only charge a license fee with no upfront investment.

It's a bit early to judge, but so far, it looks like it could be called Rayman Legends: The Board Game, as it doesn't seem to include elements from any other game in the series.

Nah, that doesn’t ring the same as RTBG, and the logo has already been revealed

I know it won't be called that.

All I'm saying (
again) is that it's quite symptomatic of the way the series has been treated during the past decade, that is, almost as if Legends was the only Rayman game ever made. Maybe Origins will get the occasional reference, but the original trilogy has pretty much been erased from the series' identity.
