Re: WRECK-IT RALPH- The movie gets 5 out of 5!!
Sergio, I don't think you understood his review. I can entirely agree with his criticism for Disney lately, they really aren't what they used to be. They have become more childish, and they don't hold nearly the same kind of broad appeal that they used to. It's almost something to do with their 3D animated era, it became sillier. We have the odd original film like Brave popping up which was an amazing feature, but they now seem more attuned to fourth-wall jokes and much lighter, less-serious things. With that, I can understand his viewpoint on the film perfectly, and I honestly might agree with him when I see it.
You've also completely mixed up 'childish' with 'family-friendly.' I would trust him on his review far more than I would trust you on your review of his review.

What about Tangled? or The Princess and the Frog? Disney hasn't lost it's touch... people just are looking for the wrong movies like Camp Rock and TinkerbellAdsolution wrote:Sergio, I don't think you understood his review. Re: WRECK-IT RALPH- The movie gets 5 out of 5!!
Tangled had a lot of good parts, especially moreso toward the end, but a lot of it still felt rather mediocre; it's like it made it half-way to being a good Disney film. Flynn seemed like someone straight out of a Saturday-morning cartoon, which I thought was one of the movie's biggest weak points. The Princess and the Frog was a great one though, probably the best one of the decade.
Disney has released loads and loads of crap in the 21st century so far, and only a couple I can bring myself to honourably mention. I think Wreck-it Ralph will end up just being another 'decent' one lost in the mist.

Hmm... oh well, the movie still gets goods review; even the guy who was disappointing by the movie still gave it a 7/10, I'll be looking for more soon. I have particular interest in your review when the movie comes out, RayfanAdsolution wrote: Disney has released loads and loads of crap in the 21st century so far, and only a couple I can bring myself to honourably mention.

You posted shortly after I edited my post, so you might have missed a bit of it.
I have no doubt it'll get at least decent reviews, but I do have doubts that it will get much better than that.

Re: WRECK-IT RALPH- The movie gets 5 out of 5!!
The crew already confirmed (thanks to gameinformer) that if the movie gets succesful enough, it will get it's own sequel, this time with other characters like Mario in it. I'm particularly impressed by how Schmoes praised the movies, and even asked for "2,3,4,5 sequels". I know it's an exaggeration, and that is a fact that to many sequels ruin a franchise, but there must be a reason why they would ask for more in that way... I don't know, I must watch it myself and tell.

Just keep in mind that 'successful' is a box-office term, not a critical term.

Whoa whoa, hold on your horses Sergio. I did watch the Princess and the Frog. It isn't a bad movie but it is undoubtly weaker than previous 2D Disney classics. The musicals and the plot didn't have the same magic as previous classicals.sergiomonty wrote:

Haruka, your second picture doesn't load.
These aught to be my... three favourites:

I also don't see the first and last one of yours, but my second picture is from Pocahontas. I can at least witness from the Portuguese dub of this last one to have one of the most beautiful musics that Disney ever made.

For Adsolution's 1st and 3rd, she had: The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh & Lady and The Tramp.

That's strange, I wonder why everyone is having trouble with images today.
Re: WRECK-IT RALPH- The movie gets 5 out of 5!!
Anyway, your movies are also strong.
I'm being honest, I felt lack of magic when I saw the Princess and the Frog. It doesn't mean it is a bad movie.

I agree for the most part. Most of the characters were quite uninteresting, and the general tone really didn't captivate me the same way as some of the older ones did, except for a few brilliantly atmospheric scenes. But nonetheless, it's still one of Disney's best animated films of the decade, along with Brave, and you could definitely feel the soul.
Re: WRECK-IT RALPH- The movie gets 5 out of 5!!
Indeed, I still enjoyed how it was animated. But the musicals and the characters weren't remarkable.
These two are probably the last really good Disney animations that the company did:

The Emperor's New Groove I thought was great fun; the villains were absolutely hysterical and had me laughing out loud. It's probably one of the best broventure movies I've seen.
But I honestly didn't like Lion King 1½ aside from its enourmously catchy songs. I guess on the plus side, it did feel like a Disney movie, but I found most of the progression (again, aside from the songs), to be a bit rubbish.
Pocahontas I'm sort of neutral about. I found it very pretentious in a way, as if it were trying too hard and didn't live up to its own expectations. The animation and music were absolutely beautiful though.

It might also vary the musical content or the dialogues you know, with the language adaptations. I watched those 3 in Portuguese and I think they are quite well made.

You may be right, since the English voice cast for most of the natives and Pocahontas herself - especially Pocahontas herself - is some of the most boring, drab and uninteresting I've ever heard, and that isn't an exaggeration. In contrast, I thought the villain's voice was way, way too over-the-top to be taken seriously.

Re: WRECK-IT RALPH- The movie gets 5 out of 5!!
The Emperor's New Groove is one of my most favourite Disney animations. I've watched it so many times I lost my track, and its jokes get me every time (also, Yzma looked like my Chemistry Teacher from middle school; they even have familiar voices). I still tend to watch it sometimes, just to comfort myself.
The Lion King also is my favourite, since it's the very first movie I saw in cinema. TLK2 wasn't bad either, but TLK1.5 was... kind of waste of time for me. Yeah, animation is damn good, but... it's kinda repetitive (remember Shrek? situation here is kinda same, first movie was good, second one p. good, but third and fourth just tried to milk the dead cow).
Going to be original and go with The Treasure Planet. I'm sucker for sci-fi/fantasy character designs.
Still need to watch both Fantasia movies. I've read nice reviews on both, but I had no time/chance to finish watching them.
Sorry for any grammar/spelling mistakes, it's kinda late and I'm too tired to think about them lol

Ah, Treasure Planet. I haven't watched it for a while so I can't really give it a review. I'll add it to my near-future list.
The first Fantasia is probably the next on my list after my three Disney favourites I listed. The animation is chilling, surreal, emotive, and the music choices are perfect. Every single thing about it is excellent, especially The Nutcracker and The Soursorer's Apprentice.
Fantasia 2000 is also good, but not as good as the first. It went for a bit of a different style, and It's pretty hit-and-miss: good third of the scenes are rather dumb and don't make a lot of sense. My favourite track on it however is probably Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, which I would actually go as far as to call the best track out of both the movies.
