Welcome to Game Central Station
Wreck-It Ralph is the villain of the arcade video game Fix-It Felix Jr., in which the game's eponymous hero fixes a building that Ralph destroys. For over 30 years, Ralph has been doing the same job and has become tired of being the villain. Wanting to prove he can be a hero and not just a villain, Ralph escapes his game through a power cord and lands in Hero's Duty, a light-gun shooter game[3] where he helps the game's hero, Sergeant Calhoun, battle against "Cy-Bugs" (the game's alien invaders). He later enters Sugar Rush, a kart racing game set on tracks made of candies, cookies and other sweets. There, Ralph meets one of the game's characters, Vanellope von Schweetz, who has learned that her game is faced with a dire threat that could affect the entire arcade, and one that Ralph may have inadvertently started.

Choose your Character

Image
Wreck-it Ralph (John C. Reilly): Ralph is a heavy-handed wrecking riot with a sensitive soul. For thirty years, day-in, and day-out he's been playing "The Bad Guy" in the arcade game Fix-It Felix, Jr. But it's getting harder and harder to love his job, when no one seems to like him for doing it. Suffering from a classic case of Bad-Guy fatigue and hungry for a little wreck-ognition, Ralph embarks on an adventure across an incredible arcade-game to prove that because he's a Bad-Guy, it doesn't mean he's a bad guy.

Image
Vanellope von Schweetz: The raven-haired rascal is convinced that she was destined to drive. With a racer's spirit embedded in her coding, Vanellope is determined to earn her rightful place in the starting lineup. Years of rejection have left Vanellope with a wicked sense of humor and a razor-sharp tongue, however, somewhere beneath that hard shell is a sweet center just waiting to be found.

Image
Fix-it Felix Jr. (Jack McBrayer): As the titular star of Fix-It Felix, Jr., Niceland's hammer-wielding maintenance man is a beloved local hero. This gold-medal-winning good guy is idolized by the Nicelanders and envied by Ralph. When he's not busy fixin' all of Ralph's wreckin', Felix spends his days helping everyone out. Hard-wired for niceness, anything other than being a Good Guy just doesn't compute.

Image
Sergeant Calhoun (Jane Lynch): In the sci-fi battle zone of Hero's Duty, Sergeant Calhoun is more than just a pretty face-she leads the charge for humanity's freedom. When she's not offering in-game intel, she's training her troops for the next attack wave. The unrelenting commander will stop at nothing to protect the arcade from a virulent Cy-Bug invasion.

Image
King Candy (Alan Tudyk): All hail King Candy-ruler of the race track, captain of confectionary, sovereign of sugar. Not surprisingly, the most powerful figure in the Sugar Rush game is also the best racer on the track. He may look noble enough, but he doesn't exactly welcome Ralph with open arms. The king is ably assisted by his strong-armed security team, and his diminutive henchman Sour Bill, a tiny little ball of bad.

Does Rayman have was it's needed to appear in this movie? is he arcade-y enough?...
I don't think Rayman will appear in the movie, he's not as retro as some of the characters there, though Sonic only pre-dates him by 3-4 years...
Why not include trailers in your post? That could help introduce members to the movie and its premise.

I've been actually trying to avoid following this movie too much until I actually see it (for us we won't be able to see it until next February I think :confus: ) because spoilers.

Yeah, the movie will also come to the Portuguese cinemas only in February, I'll see if I can watch it if possible in 3D (I would need to go to Lisbon for that).

But something tells me that spoilers will come out next month.

They're going to release the Polish translation mid-January. While thanks to Poland being used to, uh, different types of games than ones seemingly used in the movie, the translation is going to be absolutely macekre in terms of reference fidelity, I'm really surprised we'll get it before Portugal... and... uh... UK? They don't even need to translate the thing there!

Except that according to IMDb, it will release in NOVEMBER in Portugal. This makes UK situation so weird.

I've seen a trailer for the latin american version (this one is recorded in mexico), and the dub is just plain awful. They don't get the videogame jokes, they don't get inside the characters (Zangief doesn't have his Russian accent) and the voices are surprisingly generic.... without any particular effort. I'll watch it in english somehow...

I think Polish translators will catch the Russian accent, but I'm pretty, pretty sure they'll mess up something with character names, not only jokes. I can just hope to be wrong on this one.

Normal November release here. I'm pretty excited, though I don't know if it can live up to all this hype.

Well, we don't have hype for it there, so huh. But if one would make a movie mixing Deluxe Ski Jumping with GTA2, Quake, Contra and something else - everybody would go to see this monstrosity even if it was a total quality flop.

...except it would be local internet hype. Yes, such thing as Polish internet actually exists. And it's scary sometimes.

That does sound scary. English is too widespread to have its own community, so I'm actually seriously wondering what that must be like.

Believe me, if Rayman was in the movie, there's no way Mr Dark could not assist one day of the Bad Guy meeting. Sadly, that doesn't appear to be the case :(
Check this event at disney quest, a lot of people seem enthusiastic about this movie, even adults! And look at those kids playing Fix-It Felix Jr. , they're tasting the 8-bits era of gaming!

EDIT: Holy guakamole!! These reviewers had the opportunity to watch the movie and they just gave it a 5/5 I'm so hyped right now!

Well, this guy gave a mediocre ranking, 7/10

But I can't really take him seriously, I mean, he criticizes the movie because the real videogame characters like Q*Bert and Sonic aren't really an important part of the plot and are just there for commercial purposes (Well, duh) and because the movie is "childish", even though he affirmed that it is real fun, it really does accomplish the retro feeling, that the character of Vanellope is great and that the bad guy (who is unexpected) is really dark and creepy. He apparently expected some sort of adult themed movie. Man. It's Disney, and kids nowadays still play videogames, this movie was obviously supposed to be family friendly. :pfff: I'll be checking more reviews and adding them to this topic

I fail to see how that is mediocre.
