Re: Rayman Adventures
Anyways, now that I'm awake and at home, rather than dozing off...
Fiesta Run and Jungle Run, on the other hand, I concur on. I guess in that regard Adventure's is a breath of fresh air in the smartphone area, but looking at the series overall, it's not a drastic step. It's a pity too, while I know some do want to see something completely fresh (which, make no mistake, I'm all for), I do think the UbiArt series could still be expanded on and explored further in a full form-factor console game.
Hmm, while I do think Legends and Origins have probably the most consistent titles in the series, I think Legends brought enough to the table to feel worthwhile and not completely identical to Origins. Granted, the step between the two might not have been as drastic as prior titles, but I think it was sufficient.Hunchman801 wrote:Well, to be fair, it's already the case. Origins, Jungle Run, Legends and Fiesta Run are extremely similar to each other, and I can understand that someone people are getting bored already. But well, even that Rayman is better than no Rayman.Master wrote:I think Keane put it best. I don't mind UbiArt sticking around, but I do fear its stagnation over time.

Re: Rayman Adventures
Does Ubisoft think Adventures is an actual new title in the series or just a minor release like Jungle/Fiesta run? It looks like it's just new Legends style levels, which, if it's a minor, is fine.

Re: Rayman Adventures
They never get Rayman's head right. His nose is weird, it doesn't even look like in-game. Other times it's some strange proportion.Bradandez wrote:The CGI looks nowhere near bad. You guys are exaggerating.
The lighting and Barbara are nice, just Rayman. If it looked like in-game it'd look a lot better. Some others like the cracking egg look very typical and not like Rayman at all. No consistency in trailers and effects, which makes me not taking it seriously.
I just wanted to say that because they never seem to improve it.Umarlak101 wrote:CGI is not everything.
I never played Jungle Run or Fiesta Run, but am interested here.
I think they're treating it like a mobile game, which is good!Keane wrote:Does Ubisoft think Adventures is an actual new title in the series or just a minor release like Jungle/Fiesta run? It looks like it's just new Legends style levels, which, if it's a minor, is fine.
Re: Rayman Adventures
Actually I never thought about Asterix, but the original Rayman 2 plot was very inspired by Asterix proof that, like Boomboleros said, Ubi never waste an idea.Pirez wrote:She's technically Asterix with the smile of Michael Strahan and tits.Bradandez wrote:we can discuss how great Barbara is.

Then why do you keep bringing it up?Umarlak101 wrote:CGI is not everything.

Re: Rayman Adventures
I would hope Adventures isn't a mainline title like Origins and Legends. It's a giant missed opportunity it isn't on consoles though.Keane wrote:Does Ubisoft think Adventures is an actual new title in the series or just a minor release like Jungle/Fiesta run? Re: Rayman Adventures
Two things I hate: soft launches (game companies: please just allow people to sign up for a beta and stop discriminating based on location) and platform exclusivity. I'm feeling more and more negative about this game every day.

Re: Rayman Adventures
ah okay so it controls like I hoped. that's a relief. bit of a shame about the microtransactions though.
Re: Rayman Adventures
I was just looking through the text of the soft launched version for Rayman Adventures and found this description of Rayomz, who seems to be in this game again:
How ironic.Rayomz: This guy could give Rayman a bad name! And everybody mistakes him for our hero. But hey! Rayman would never abandon his legendary purple T-shirt!

Re: Rayman Adventures
Hmm, so that outfit in the trailer is Rayman's permanent costume then? Not just a for the occasion thing? Bleh.

Not permanent permanent, only for this game.Master wrote:Hmm, so that outfit in the trailer is Rayman's permanent costume then? Not just a for the occasion thing? Bleh.
Also, does "iOS only" mean that its only on the iPhone?
Re: Rayman Adventures
No, it's not permanent, it's his default outfit. That's the term, you dumpling.
And no, this game is only for iOS devices. That includes iPhone and iPad.

Re: Rayman Adventures
They edited the platforms out of the website (and made it a glitchy mess, but that's beside the point), so they are probably thinking about an Android port but haven't gotten around to it yet.

- There is an in-app purchase menu, and a stamina system (creatures get tired after a bit of gameplay and you have to feed them). There are also gems (used for the microtransactions), which you can presumably buy in large quantities (there are 3 packs: BUNCH OF GEMS, STACK OF GEMS, MOUND OF GEMS). There is also an "incubator" for creature eggs. You can speed up the hatching process with an elixir that is presumably also available via micro-purchase. You can also pay gems to hatch the egg immediately. There are also 3 types of eggs: silver eggs, golden eggs and crystal eggs, which contain rare creatures.
- There is literally no story, so even less than Legends, but I guess that was to be expected.
- Judging from the script, the confirmed worlds are: "Medieval Mayhem", "Toad Story", "Under the Sea", "Olympus Maximus", "Desert". Other files also mention the Land of the Livid Dead and the Shaolin Dojo (which we've seen in the trailer). Those are probably the extra levels.
- I haven't been able to extract much yet but it seems the app contains Rayman and Barbara's files by default but will allow to unlock and download other characters (Globox, Teensies...) and skins (Rayomz, etc).
- There are challenges much like the online challenges in Rayman Legends. That's kind of cool!
- Lucky tickets are back, along with "Golden Tickets" which have better prizes but worse prices, it seems.
- The Sacred Tree grows by collecting more creatures, it seems. There are achievements for growing it very high.
- There are lots and lots of creatures, they're the main gimmick of the game.
- The game is called "RLC" in the filenames, just as RRR was called R4. "Rayman Legends with Creatures"?

- There are 3 kinds of normal levels: brawler levels, exploration levels and speed run levels.
- "Sorry, Rayman Adventures® doesn't support your device yet. However it does run on the iPhone 5 and the iPad 3 and above."
- The beatbox minigame from Rayman Legends will be back.
Rayman: This outdoor adventurer is one with nature and likes to spend his time exploring the Glade of Dreams in search of eggs, unless, of course, it starts raining.

Re: Rayman Adventures
Do the Incrediballs have names, or are they just left nameless?
Re: Rayman Adventures
All of the species have names, and there are quite a lot of them: "The Bangbangs", "The Gelatoons", "The Trunkers" among others.Bionichute wrote:Do the Incrediballs have names, or are they just left nameless?
I've also found a lot of individual creature names: "Bonnie", "Clyde" (yeah, they definitely did that on purpose), "Whistlr", etc. so it seems the individual creatures have names too.
You can also see that in this screenshot from the website Cairnie linked.
