In game, I'd say when he gets surprised by the Knaaren and is imprisoned in a cage before fighting Reflux. Off game, an example would be the exact moment before Rayman 2's initial sequence (losing his powers, not being able to defend the Glade of Dreams and ending up imprisoned).

I'll take that! Another is where he doesn't catch up with Reflux and André via the Longest Shortcut

not punished with instant death for Rayman if they take a wrong path?

The last stage? I think it was called Mr. Dark’s lair or something like that.

Yes! Some, but not all, incorrect paths are lethal. Many allow you to explore most of the map before dumping you back at the start!

There's the normal yellow mushroom that gives you lums when you hit it.
Then there are the big mushrooms that teleport you between layers (foreground/background). They are normally blue, except there is the one in Big Mama's lair, which is pink. I don't know if you count these as the same type or not.
And then there are small glowing mushrooms that look like lightbulbs, in Gourmand Land (Back to Origins). Each one gives one lum.

The first two are correct. For the third, could you please provide a screenshot? I'm not sure if I know which item this is

Might be a long shot, but I would guess that you'd have to be hit by an enemy/obstacle first, then pass the area where the punishments would spawn. The brief invincibility from the first hit would prevent instant death for a few seconds.

I take it you meant something else that I didn't think of.
I was referring to the ones below (this is from Dragon Soup, second area). They look like mushrooms to me, although maybe they are supposed to be something else?
In any case, they were not there in the original level in Origins. They appear in a few other spots in the same level, e.g.,

OK, I wasn't sure if you meant those. I think they're the same as the first type though, aren't they?

Now that you mention it, that might indeed allow Rayman to escape unscathed in some places, though it'd be tricky without the running power… However, I should have been more precise that I was talking about a glitch, rather than skilful play like that. (Though like all glitches, if you know about it you can exploit it

) You may reanswer!

I think in some cases, you can collect the Ting but narrowly avoid the trap?

Maybe the first type dr_st was referring to is the larger
Kuyalums?

These are indeed what I meant. I never knew the name until now.
Whether they are to be seen as one type or two distinct types is for Plum to determine, I have a hunch he has another mushroom in mind that I just can't remember.

Ah yes, that one! Silly me!

But the small ones aren't unique to Gourmand Land either, that's what confused me! The other one I had in mind was the
Fireworks mushroom

Well, you're right that the glitch involves collecting a Ting to avoid death! I need a bit more detail though…
Question 26: What happens if you collect 101 Blue Tings in a Rayman Designer level? (Yes, this can be done if the level designer changes their EVE.MLT to circumvent the 100-Ting limit)

I'm not too knowledgeable on Designer, so I can only guess that the counter just overflows and loops around to 1.

Fraid not!
Here's a hint: what normally happens when Rayman collects a certain number of Tings in a game?

1. Hoodlum with the green can (André) in the Fairy Council.
2. Globox in the Hoodlum Headquarters (Rayman and Globox pressing switches at the same time).
3. Knaaren in the Chamber of Leptys.
Edit: just to clarify example n2... I know Globox is a main character, but you don't play as Globox there, that's why I included it. I don't know if you mean that or if you mean an NPC like the Hoodlums or the Knaarens.

I've done that a couple times in the ending phases of each level, where I would collect the Ting under the wrong answers and not have the punishment itself activate, though I'd have to barely touch it. I assume there's this small area that would activate the event but the Ting is bigger than said area. Probably not what the bonus question had in mind but I found it interesting when I first had that happen!
