While Michel shared the finding, I believe it was stated that it was Frédéric Houde who found the cartridge:

I'm a fan of his work, ain't he the guy behind Raymiond's creation ?
Also you should totally visit the the fanbase, the Raymiond Hacker Collective, created by mister Rock-Henry Jackson under the name of Mechman1602.

I remember back in the pre-Google YouTube era, whenever I searched for Rayman, that thing was always near the top. I had no idea what on earth that was meant to be.
