It isn't, they don't look much alike. For instance, the hair has thickness, which is an instant giveaway that it isn't the revolution model.

I still think that the change to the Rayman 3 design was unnecessary but there's nothing that can be done now.

There's nothing modern about the Dream Forest, or any of Rayman's worlds. Any reason for appearing more modern should be purely for higher commercial success, not to fit in with the 'times.'

One of the reason the hoodie design does bother me a little bit is because hoodies are an industrial-made item, whereas a neckerchief can just be a piece of any natural clothy material. It's just kind of distracting when you consider the game's setting.

Many changes in video games were very unnecessary like for example Banjo-Kazooie, Spyro, Pac-Man, Crash and much more. Seeing how their changes were recived negatively among fans, Rayman's change is actually ok since there were no fans complaining on internet about it like they did with series I mentioned above. Still, for me noting will beat Rayman 1 design. That one is best in my opinion and always will be.

I don't really see a problem with the hoodie considering that Rayman has been going around in trainers (Or at least what would be considered to be trainers) since the R1 days. Likewise with his design changes in general since they do tend to be fairly minor if anything.

I like a character being updated now and then, unless it's a complete fuck up or major change like Pac-Man or something. Plus, I really can't see his R2 appearance working in Ray 3. Had the third installment kept the serious tone and platforming based gameplay, his design would have been fine. R3 was trying to update the series to appeal more to modern society, which worked in some cases, and others not at all.

There are some theory said that Rayman Origins happened after Rayman 1 (and possibly after Rayman 2) because I have read somewhere that before the events of Rayman 2 Rayman was not very well-known,but in the intro scene of Origins it seemed that Rayman has already been a friend with Globox and others

Wait, wasn't it confirmed that Rayman Origins is actually after Rayman 3 but that title Origins is because of similar Gameplay of first Rayman?

I think the general consensus is that the contents of the first 2010 trailer are non-canon, though the official explanation of Rayman's birth is similar.
I hope that the fact that RO is a sequel is clear now, we've had quite some time to combat that confusion, and it does aggravate some when someone still refers to it as a prequel.

I wish I was registred here when confusion existed. I hope more confusions will be in Rayman games. It's interesting proving what is right and what wrong.

I personally like the Magician being a diabolical little teensy bastard. Even his dickish comments to Rayman and co. are hilarious.
