Re: ELEM, JEENS, & ELI: The Odyssey of the Hero Trio

Post by Bradandez »

Message from Brad~

For sometime you guys been asking why I haven't started actual development on the game. I have yet to learn how to animate and I have yet learned how to code. I am very sorry, I've been dealing with trying to find a job and learning to drive. I've also now started college and that's been a real pain in the ass. So all I've been doing right now is re-writing the whole story to "ELEM, JEENS, & ELI" and so far I'm loving it! I've also began on redesigning the First Three Worlds and redesigning enemies, while adding and cutting some. I hope I can start production on this game soon. I really hope. This game is just gonna fucking deliver and hopefully blows people's minds. Stay strong members and fellow supporters.

Presenting the New and Revamped Enemies of Totem Vista Village!
Image
Behold these fearsome foes!

Weak Links: The Evil Trio's Minions. Not the best of minions, but they can get the job done... sorta.
  • Cyclopedes: These little fellas don't pose much of a threat. Make sure not to jump on them or else you'll be sorry!
  • Nuts-N-Dolts: Poor things only move side to side and aren't really durable. Just don't let them touch you or you're in for a shock.
  • Skulltergeists: These little ghosts follow you wherever you go. Light makes them go away but be sure to get rid of the skull!
Animal Abominations: The corrupted native creatures of Totem Vista Village. It's like some animals had one crazy night! Eww.
  • Bumble Frogs: Watch out! This frog is very poisonous! Don't touch it! Only way to defeat it is with an attack that includes you not coming in contact!
  • Coon Bats: A shy creature who minds its own business. You should let it be or else!
  • Arachno Dipteras: Oh Yeldarb! This pest is scary! It latches onto you and drains your life! Make sure to do a dash attack to get it off!
  • Ferolf: A menacing predator despite its small size. It will pounce on you and will show you no mercy! Try fooling it!
  • Beaver Bears: The dumbest of them all! But it has a brute force and can obliterate you in seconds! CANNOT BE KILLED!
  • Salmon Sharks: These are small fish with huge mouths and have a enormous craving for hero flesh! WILL EAT YOU WHOLE!
Vile Residents: The residents with a nasty mood! Why they so grumpy!? Better give 'em a whack or two!
  • Ms. Acecaceaes: This living palm tree is one to be reckon with! Watch your back!
  • Diamond Drillers: These living hazards cannot be stop and don't you even try to do so!
  • Stone Heads: A big dumb living boulder. It can take a few hits before crumbling. But be warned!
  • Lil' Rockos: The offspring that spawn from Stone Heads! They're a bit jumpy.
  • Farmer Harmers: I hate these! Augh! Just get rid of them! They're no use!
  • Pitchdork: The females are just as bad! They'll stab you whether you're near or far! They can be unarmed though.
  • Ambush Assassin: This hunter loves to collect heroes as trophies. She will trap you and will use firearms! Beware, let your guard down and can one-hit kill you!
  • Kahuna Masks: The male, possessed natives who can be equipped with spears or poison darts!
  • Ana Ana Masks: The female, possessed natives who have strong shields and can't be defeated until they let their guard down.
And there you have it! All the info you can get and will need to know how these enemies attack and can get rid of! I hope you enjoyed reading this!Feedback is appreciated!
saerleiya wrote:Great intro!

That looks like a Crash Bandicoot intro: evil masterplan popping out of nowhere for the unlucky villains, and right after our heroes resting on the beach.
But still, I loved it.
Thank you! Crash does indeed have some of the best continuing story lines in video games and I hope EJE does too!
Shrooblord wrote:Yeah, it definitely captures the right kind of humour the Crash series is going for. And the evil villain blimp too!
Can't wait to see it in action. ;D

EDIT:
And it seems there is some feedback to give! Here goes. :D

First of all, the setting and the atmosphere seem great. It makes for a good intro. The 'Bradinomicon', though cute, seems a bit narcisistic though. I'd think of another name if I were you. I love the part where both the book and the top hat get thrown out of the window. It makes for the whole first part to be almost useless ("why did this just happen if they were never going to use the top hat or book in the game anyway?"), but adds such humour that it can't possibly be omitted.

The part with Sinzliki is alright, but seems a bit elaborate. The Evil Trio shouldn't have to explain themselves to the new character; they'd be explaining the exact thing the player just saw. That's unnecessary. Think of another way that Sinzliki gets to know what they're up to and aids them (also, probably because spoilers, but what is Sinzliki's stake in this? Why does he help the trio just like that?).

Just some minor notes, except that Sinzliki part. If you strengthen that part up a little, your story will be all the more solid and fun for it.

Good intro - I like your style.
The Bradinomicon was just a place holder. There's a far more sinister book out there and it has yet to be revealed.
Also that book and hat aren't all that useless
I guess I can fix up Sinzliki's introduction. I thought since he's a character who wasn't there, should at least have some explanation. This may be a problem in the story as it progresses since there will be a lot of characters. Sinzliki is the one of the Universe's Most Evil Beings out there and the Worlds of Whimsical Domains is more than just a planet he'd like to rule. It's a personal mission to make this planet suffer but it won't be revealed in this game.
But thank you for your very long, but helpful criticism!

On second thought, it may be a fun idea to call it the Bradinomicon if you're just going to throw it away seconds after it's introduced.

I like how your characters share an evenness in divide between men and women. As an idea for the shield bearers: maybe they don't let their guard down at all, but you have to somehow hit them or get them hurt from behind. Like so, they present an impassible obstacle that maybe walks back a step every time you bunce their shield, but may be killed if forced off a cliff or if somehow damaged from behind.

Hmm, I guess I can keep the name. There's a far more important book that's not in the game .

Yeah, I've been adding female enemies since games often don't include them. Hopefully, this won't be a problem. Expect female enemies in every world.

I really like that idea. Since their shields are unbreakable by any attacks, I guess having the guard let down would have been the only way to defeat them. But your idea can really make some neat puzzles. Probably the Ana Ana Masks can back up when they feel threaten? And their shields can also be used as platforms? How does that sound?

Ooh, like they raise their shields above their heads or slightly diagonal sometimes and you can use them as footholds? Sounds like a good plan! Maybe you can kill them while they raise their shields, but it's sometimes in the player's best interest not to kill them, lest an optional collectible doesn't become inaccessible by doing so... punish trigger-happies!

They hold them upright, so they can be used as platforms. They can be really useful in the Bonus Rooms! Like, you have two on each side and you have to keep jumping back and forth in order to not get harmed by them, all the while the platforms they're standing on is rising itself.

Ohhh maybe you can have enemies that rely on the shield bearers holding up the shields so they have a height advantage over the heroes - and perhaps two shield bearers could 'play tennis' with such enemies, who shoot whilst in mid-air and prove a difficult-to-dodge airborne obstacle. You could have a group of four shield people, with one in front guarding the ones that are holding their shields up and one in the back doing the same for the other side.

Not a big fan of the tennis idea, but I do like the idea for the Back-to-Back Ana Ana Masks. So many possibilities with this one enemy, I'm amazed!

So I finished both Volcano and Ocean enemies, and I'm writing down their attacks and weaknesses like I did with the Jungle enemies. But I recently started on revamping Volcano Inferno Island.

This begs the question would you rather see the enemies this week or wait until I'm done revamping BOTH Volcano Inferno Island & the Water World?

And now for awaited art.

Presenting 'Revamped' & 'New' Enemies of Volcano Inferno Island!
Image
Beware these probleming pyromaniacs!

Pathetic Flametards: These are volcanic versions of the original Hero Trio's weakest minions, but they have a trick to burn you!
  • Cyclosulphur: This critter waddles along, happily on fire. Its flame dies out whenever it waddles, so know when to strike!
  • Explosive UCKs: This one-wheeled robot loves to up chuck fireballs! It doesn't take too long for it to run out though.
  • Wildfire Crawler: This horrid skeleton drags itself onto grass, quickly lighting the area. Once it gets tired, it raises itself up.
Beasts from Hell: The animal kingdom is surely peculiar in the Worlds of Whimsical Domains. Volcano Inferno Island surely has some spicy specimens!
  • Roasty Rollers: A sneaky snake indeed! This fella slithers back and forth until it loops itself into a hellish hoop and rolls at high speed!
  • Flame Mingo: A bird that's blazing with grace! They go berserk if their style is tarnished, so be alert!
  • Piping Potamus: This animal usually stay in lava pools and chomp on anything if it lands in its mouth. An invincible creature with a strong biting force!
  • Calorficdile: A reptile that spews out lava to fill craters to protect its territory.
  • Fryno: This rushing rhino will destroy anything in its path if it charges its hot horn! Can be useful for some tough terrains!
  • Ignitoraffe: This animal is more of a platform than an enemy. But beware, it lights up as players use it as a terrain.
  • Heat Rey: This king of the jungle uses its crown and the sun's energy as a heat ray if the two align.
  • Hellephant: An animal that rampages and spouts out fire. Legend states that it could be tame.
Igneious Islanders: The islanders here have also been corrupted and seem to want the heroes dead! But two seem to be different? Is there something weird going on?
  • Pip Torch: A living flame that cannot be defeated unless there happens to be water on this forsaken, fire funland!
  • Hot Head: A terrifying, floating volcano that spews out Pip Torches and puke magma. It sure likes to make a mess.
  • Kamikazmee Boiler: This boiler tries to trap innocent heroes and blow them into smithereens! Avoid at all cost!
  • Eye of Punctures: A spikey ball of spikes wrapped in cloth. Usually found hanging on ropes or rolling. It loves to stare at potential victims!
  • Hydros: These merciless mercenaries are soaking the island with water, unbalancing the heating harmony! The males use small, but harmful water shots while females use a big, but harmless water shot. (Eskimo variants use ice instead of water.)
  • Reanimated Fossilized Whack-a-Toot: A creature from prehistoric times is back from extinction to roam freely once again. Even just bones, it still has its organ to produce fresh lava.

Now revealing!

VOLCANO INFERNO ISLAND!

Image

I felt that the original version was too bland. So to prevent this, I added African themes and a frozen wasteland at the top. You'll learn about why the island is being frozen as the plot progresses. I also added dinosaurs and fossils to add a prehistoric theme as well. And there's a carnival too. Yay! And if you haven't notice, everything is on fire.

Thanks for reading and I appreciate any feedback. Now to work on the water world. See ya~
