Thanks Dave, I've went ahead and updated the documentary for December (along with adding a few things here and there). Everyone please feel free to point out if there are any other events that should go on the doc! :)

Can I point out you made a typo in the final entry of December?

Fixed, along with some small changes for tense consistency, such as:

won -> wins
featured -> features
were -> are

I'm still away for the next week, and I was just skimming through it quickly on my phone. The team will always review the documentary and revise entries if necessary of course, and understandably everyone is a little busy during the season.

If I may suggest a small thing to add to the documentary: we (Hunchman801, dr_st and I) secretly started working on Rayfanpedia during October of this year (then we were joined by Hoodcom, Elite Piranha and some fangame creators later).
I think that's noteworthy enough to be added as it's a brand new "expansion" for the RPC! :mryellow:

But of course we can add it! I've added the discussions leading up to this project as well, along with when it started. Hmm, you know, I find it interesting how the entire concept of how Rayfanpedia was thought of and constructed could be traced back to something I had once said during Record Day in 2018 when I was not in the right mindset, though the credit goes to dr_st for bringing that idea into the discussion (even though he was originally just thinking of Redemption). :mrgreen:

I suspect the R3 GBA leaks and any subsequent major discoveries made from them ought to be included when the time comes.

Oh yeah definitely. This was massive news and it basically happened right on the New Year mark.

The GBA leaks are definitely worth mentionning! The year is starting pretty good for Rayman! :hehe:

Thanks for adding it! :)
I also brought up the idea during 2021 in the Rayman Redemption topic, which itself implied some people already wanted a fangame wiki of some sort (but I don't really remember who). And as Hunch stated, the idea sort of surfaced as far back as 2009. So in the end, all of those few requests combined sparked the final project! :mryellow:
Rayman Saturn wrote: Sun Jun 13, 2021 7:17 pm By the way, I’ve been thinking it would be interesting to have a wiki dedicated to his fangames.
With Rayman The Dark Magician’s Reign of Terror, Redemption and its Gameplay Demo, ReDesigner, Bowling 2, the two Spooky Raymansion games as well as the scrapped projects Ryemanni has shown in some of his streams, there’s more than enough matter for a good wiki and it could be an opportunity to generate some more interest around some of the games.
I’ve seen a few people hoping for a wiki and even asking to make some articles here, but the RayWiki isn’t made for unofficial games and so I’ve been thinking about Fandom or other websites like that.
Good thing we didn't go in the FANDOM route :hap: :beurk:
Hunchman801 wrote: Mon Dec 18, 2023 4:40 pm There's also this topic from 2009, where I'm basically saying that it's fine for notable fan games to have one article each on RayWiki.
Also for a bit of trivia, the project was named Rayfanpedia since the very beginning. It was meant to be a placeholder name, but it remained in the end... Mainly because we couldn't really come up with anything better. :oops2:
Some suggestions included references to Rayman By His Fans or the Magic Book of Knowledge (a name I've used in some promotional material before the Rayman Alive reveal). But it just didn't sound good enough and would have made it confusing, especially when RayWiki is already "by the fans" in a sense...

Additionally, the first article that was created was the list of notable fangames (which dr_st essentially copy-pasted for testing purposes), while the first original one was dedicated to Noseless Rayman (and was of my doing... and of course I was going to overachieve it for the legendary Noseless monster, even for the stub :noel:).
As for the first picture we used to test uploads, it was a low-res Llama-Worm by Hunch! :lol:
(poor thing had to be deleted tho... RIP in Pepperoni Lamasticot :cry: )

I think you mean "llamaggot" :noel: It's been a long time since I've heard of them!

Lamasticot was a French meme around the time, but it’s English translation was llamaggot roughly

All those additions to the documentary are a stark reminder that the last few months have been nothing short of exciting for the community! I sure look forward to an even better 2024. :partyhat:

It's not something that's really necessary, I mean the tinestamp is on the post anyway if that mattered. It's probably more beneficial to think about what to add to the documentary now instead of going back to way before you were a member looking to add entries. Neither of us can really have input on adding things when we weren't here. ;)

Anything else you would like to add for January? Probably is worth mentioning the extension of the Christmas ranks and the winners of the challenge of the month.

For April could we possibly mention the lack of an April fools day this year?

Yes, and should also mention that it's because us staff forgot about it? :oops2:
