how does that work? pronounced yume but spelt dung?

How the hell do you even pronounce these Vietnamese names?

We have really uncool surnames in our family. Like Wheeler [my one], East and Cater.

I just live with it. In fact, I hardly even know about half of the Vietnamese language.

At least i can pronounce them.

Being asian in the US is a bunch of shit now-a-days where I am.
You get pestered with questions asking if you're Chinese or Japanese.

China and Japan isn't the only country in Asia people! -__-'
Plus, it'd be a lot nicer and more considerate if someone would just say, "what ethnicity are you?"

I'm mostly asked by animu kids if I'm Japanese.
But of course that's only kids and teens asking that to me.

I usually ask if they were born here first, and only after i get to know them.

Lol wapanese kids need to learn2geography.

Aeo: That question got me into long talks. Usually with people who I don't like very much.

As i said, i only ask people that if i know them well. It was ages before i asked my friend roger about anything to do with his ethnicity, simply because it's not all that important to me.

Somehow, even though when I have a major rival, I get into long random talks.

Oh and, LOL, the definition of Wapanese.


“Wapanese” are decidedly caucasian individuals who, by means of thoroughly warped postmodern acculturation processes, have come to the decision that it is in their best interest to act as if they were denizens of the nation of Japan. The term “wapanese” can be accurately though of as an analog to wigger. A whitey can be classified as a “Wapanese” if they are in possession of two or more of the following defining traits:


1. Has an unhealthy obsession with shallow, saccharine and intellectually insulting animation shows (also refered to as anime by the nerd elite) originally tailored for young Japanese children

2. Operates under the erroneous belief that every aspect of American culture is vastly inferior to that of Japan’s – even though 99.9% of Wapanese have never had firsthand experience of any sort with their preferred culture (in other words, they’ve never set so much as one foot upon the island(s) of Japan)

3. Halfheartedly studies Japanese language and/or is a part-time practitioner of martial arts

4. Has a sword (samurai swords only, of course) collection

5. Is a Virgin
6. May be afflicted with a terminal case of yellow fever; however, they constantly fail in their quest for Japanese pootytang

7. Extreme cases may traipse around whilst wearing a “costume” that makes them resemble their favorite anime characters (this practice is reffered to as cosplay; cross-dressing and raging homosexuality is not an uncommon component of cosplay.


Interestingly, Wapanese are generally though of as “failures” and rejects within their own culture. Social scientists such as myself speculate that it was their failure to gain acceptance within their own culture than has lead many a white geek to seek out Japan’s culture as a surrogate; however, they’d be shattered to know that the insular and somewhat racist Japanese society would be even less accepting of them than the people of their true and native culture.

My younger sister, the poor chick, is slightly darker than I am [due to my dad's family being of Mediterranean descent or something], and it came to a point when someone asked her if she was Pakistani!

I just wonder when the hell is someone going to ask: What is your ethnicity? Without immediately asking, HEY, ARE YOU (Insert Ethnicity here)?!

I have no idea on what our true ethnicity is. Some say we're of Portuguese descent or something, and I know that we're all part Australian, but until we look into our ancestors we'll never understand why my sister is that dark compared to me and my older sister. [and before you ask, yes we all have the same father.]

Australian? Hell yeah! As for wjy she's so dark, it just happens sometimes, different genes turn out in one sibling compared to another.

LOL, I'm the lightest asian in my neighborhood. Don't like to tan.

Here's something that's in my mind.

Okay, so, I am completely Vietnamese right? Both my parents are actually from Vietnam.

What if I marry a Fully Vietnamese girl (born in the US like me), would it still be a fully Vietnamese child or part American?

My mum's real dad is an Aussie supposedly but we never met him, mum included. And the dude who asked my sis if she was a Pakistani was an Asian himself. lol
