Lisbon got rejected by the Irish voters last year, so the EU cleverly decided to have a second referendum on the exact same thing!

It's happening on the 2nd of October...in the Republic of Ireland...with the fate of the EU hanging in the balance...four million Irish citizens are, amusingly, deciding whether five hundred million Europeans will be subjected to the effects of the Treaty or not...whatever the outcome, we're in for a couple of interesting weeks...

How many times d'you think we'll have to vote no before they:
(a). Actually change the Treaty?
OR
(b). Give up?

If they actually change it, then they'll have to get all the countries who've already ratified it to ratify it again, which would be lame, so they won't do that.

If we vote No again, then they'll ask us...hmm...perhaps one more time. It would be silly to go for a fourth one.

~It seems it'll get Yes'd this time, though. Which I think is good. It'll make the EU into a single state, you know.

You think it's up to you? :hinhinhin:

~Perhaps if we vote No again, there will be a third referendum...on the twenty-first of December, 2012.

Yes, a Mayan leprechaun. I found it in him pocket when I was eating him. He tasted like chicken.

~Chicken McNuggets, to be precise

Just to clear things up, Lisbon will not federalise the EU. If it would, we would know about it.
