Talk about anything that has something to do about the European Union here.

Do NOT forget to vote and participate in the SOTM and Manipulate the Image competitions! (If you don't wanna, however, that's perfectly okay (I'm hardly a role model))
They were going to reform the EU with the Lisbon Treaty. Lisbon would have done loads of little things, but I think the most interesting thing would have been that it was going to merge all EU countries into a single state. Because of some annoying little detail, Ireland had to have a referendum on it, rather than the government just deciding and saying Yes, like all the other EU countries. The Irish people voted No, and there's talk of a second referendum in late 2009.

Because our farmers can't make food cheap enough to compete against the imported food, and so Norwegian food will be a lot more expensive than imported food, people will prefer the imported food and buy that instead. Then farmers will have to close down their farms because the income is no good, and then a lot of people in the Norwegian food industries will loose their jobs, not just farmers, but also those who work at the big diaries and in other companies, like Tine, etc.
Another reason is that EU only has one vote when FN (UN, United Nations in English I think) make important desicions. Norway also has a vote of their own and would like to keep that rather than rely on UN to take the right desicion because we like to think that we are important.
Another argument is that, because we are a rich country, we will most likely have to use a lot of money to help those countries in EU that are not so rich.
Those are the arguments I know of. There's probably a lot more but I'm not that interested in it so I don't know too much about it..
Well, i get your first point, but that could be fixed eventually.
And most countries in EU have money. Denmark is still a rich country, even through we are a part of EU too.

The truth is that Norway is in reality a part of EU. We're a part of the EEA (European Economic Area, EØS in Norwegian), which basically means that we have to everything the EU says, but we aren't allowed to be a part of making decisions.

EU Rocks 63 years of peace, freedom and buying video games cheaper over the border prove that
Europe is going in the right direction if you ask me Well, i hope every europian country joins, really. And i'm 100% sure we could make a agreement that both Norwegian and the rest of Europe would be happy with. If it couldn't, europe wouldn't stand where it stands nowadays.
Anyway what exactly are we supposed to be discussing about the EU? We need some specifics.
"We"? You're the only one so far.
