Yeah, and just imagine going through parts 3 and 5 again
Anyway congratulations, that's an awesome score you have there. Aren't you the second person to get 100799 in TBOM? If so that's quite an achievement. I wonder which level you're going to play next... I think TDOTK needs exploring. ^^

I've been playing part 3 again this morning and I managed to do the first hellishly long combo twice! Twice! It went perfectly both times because I hit the second Muddibog when I was ahead of it. But the problem was, the final green gem combo failed! Both times! What are the chances of that? :destroy: You don't actually realise how pathetically easy the normal method is compared to this extended version, I'm sure I could make the original technique work many, many times. I think it would take an hour to finish this part.

The only solution is to copy your save game file. It's a bit annoying, but much better than having to restart the whole level.

By the way, MandM, TLS and SBTC are the only levels where you can still get points, right? Anyway, I don't think it's enough to 853.000, unless new tricks are discovered.

Congratulations MandM!!! Now you'll have another level less to play, if you don't find anything new in TBOM. What level will you play next, to finally get over 852000?

I have finished the second part of TBOM with 13348. I lost 40 points because of the yellow gem in the tree hole that is somehow beneath the ground. Now I'll also play part 3 but, unlike Xenon, I'll stick with the normal version of the long combo. It's enough and I don't want any useless trouble.

Well, I will today starting finishing Part 2 and Part 3, cuz' yesterday I hadn't got the time for that.
Anyway, congratulations for that, MandM! :) It's really at the moment the best for that annoying level, and, in my knowledge, you are really the second who managed 100799 (DTUCC got it, too)

I've made the video of the cage-combo in CF part 4 now and I also made a video of the green gem-combo in part 5, for fun and to complete the collection. Sorry about the crappy quality, BTW.

Thanks all. And yes, DTUCC got this score as he managed the triple glitch in part 5. I gave that up because it was becoming too tedious playing the same thing over and over.

I do believe I can find the last few points either in LS or in SBTC. I don’t look forward to dealing with those horrible combos though. Maybe I’ll try out LS as the combo is in the beginning of part 1.

Hunchman: I can’t save a copy of a game file on X-Box. I can only save a game that has been opened or created before hand. So if I would try something new in BOM part 6 I would have to play the whole level from part 1. How I envy this option for pc-players.

sfn: You can still play the old version of the long combo, but I suggest you start at the Mushroom so you get the surviving Hoodblaster for 400 points in combo. As for part 2, it’s an annoying thing that this yellow gem is under the ground. I always roll like mad across the floor to get that way.

Jona: I was very aware of this cinematic. I had the power chord in close proximity in case I made a mistake, ready to pull it out fast. So far I haven’t seen any indication of anything that could delay this cinematic. I doubt it’s possible.

Xenon: You have my sympathy. I still have it clear in my memory all the times the Hoodblaster survived, the long combo went well and then the tree combo failed at the last jump. The pain and frustration is beyond belief for outsiders.

DOTK is always worth investigating. If you think about the missing secret room, well, I wish there was a way to find out once and for all. I wonder if Hunchman has any contacts he could press for information? I’m fresh out of ideas for that part.

EDIT: Cool videos. I see you have a red circle around the cage. I never get that, but I'll try it out later. Nice way to get the green gem.

Wow, that's impressive! :P I think it's better than my score I reached, good job! Part 4 shouldn't be so such an ordeal, you know, once I needed 15 minutes for that.
Well, I came up to 13.393 points after Part 2, hopefully I will get for all Hoodblasters bonus points.

Thanks! Yeah, part 4 should be easy enough and I aim to get 21,000+ points there. I should finish it tomorrow :)
And your score looks awesome so far. If we say that the maximum after part 1 is 2840, then the maximum after part 2 must be 13400, but you lose at least 7 points when getting the Lockjaw. So yeah, you've pretty much got the maximum score up to now. Are you going to use the extended combo in part 3? 8)

Maybe you can manage it today 8)
Well, I use a special method to come away from the slapdashes when getting the blue can. It's indeed very difficult to combo the red gem in Part 1.
And yeah, it will hard to beat your score there, but maybe I manage it by using the extended combo, like you did.
By the way, did you everything right, is your score (44650) near the max score until Part 4?

Actually no, and I'm quite annoyed I only got 44643. You see, the Hoodblaster at the beginning got severely weakened by the Muddibog so I lost 60 points. I believe the maximum I coud have got was 44711, but that would be almost impossible.

Well, with my trick it's possible to keep him alive and unhitted.
But your score must be enough to get 100799 when you play an acceptable Part 4. :P

I wonder if it's possible to get 100799 without comboing the green gem in part 5 for 3000 points...? If it is possible, I may well go for this amazing score. We'll just have to see how things go, but I hope it doesn't take too long for the triple Razoff glitch to occur. I have a suspicion it is triggered more frequently for PS2 players because the last time I played, the double glitch and the triple glitch worked in the same hour. And this was the first hour I played.

I don't share that theory. I played for several days and still didn't manage it. It seems you were either very lucky or you got a feeling for Razoff's movement immediately.

Anyway, I tried some parts of the extended method in part 3 and I don't see any sense in doing those. I don't need them for 99999 at all and they just make it more difficult for me, so I'll stick with the basic method which doesn't give me real troubles. In fact, I find the green gem in the end at least as difficult.

About part 2: Last time I got 13387 after 2780, so the maximum should be about 13450, maybe a little higher or lower, depending on how many hits you take. However, if we can combo the Matuvu in part 1 after the 6 gems or make an extended combo in Begoniax's library or somehow include the piggy bank and the yellow gems in the tree hole into the big combo in part 2 we might be able to get more than that. With two of these things even a score of 45000+ after part 3 would be possible.

I remember taking everything in part 2 in one combo, but I could well be mistaken, so don't take it for truth.

Anyway, I'm envious you are all completing parts so quickly. It will probably take me weeks to finish part 2 of SBTC. And what's also frustrating, is that MandM seems to have the ability to make jumps that are practically impossible for me. In the third big combo with the Vortex, snowman and Hoodboom where you jump to the balloons, I saw him jumping to the second highest balloon in the vid he made for that combo. I jumped off as far as I could, and it wasn't even close to that balloon. Well the camera does change in an annoying way there and maybe I just didn't do it right, but still... I barely even reached the third balloon!

And I tried the second scaffolding combo too, but I can't make the jump to the upper level either, and I also can't get the Lockjaw first without taking the yellow gem nearby. And I need that one to beat the Hoodboom in combo there, so I messed it up and didn't even get ONE hoodlum in combo. How pathetic...

For god's sake, I wish I had just continued SBTC when I had over 88k after part 2 there. But I eventually got sick of part 3 and played CF when the new combos in part 2 were found. My biggest mistake ever.

It's funny that you find the green gem combo harder than the main combo because even using the original method I find it to be far more challenging than taking the green gem for 9000. I used your method by the way, so thanks a lot for introducing it a few months ago. It's all about jumping really so as long as you don't bugger up the timing of the jumps it should work on most attempts. At least it did for me.

I think that's possible too, yeah. I've just realised that I actually lost 120 points in part 3 because I used your method (which involved taking one of the red gems third) plus the 8 points I lost by Hoodblaster shots, swimming and whatnot. According to my calculations, the maximum score possible in part 3 is exactly 31,400. In part 2, I think it's possible to get 10,620 points in part 2 providing there are six yellow gems in the hole. And in part 1, we'll say 2840 for now. So, altogether this makes 44,860 points. We'd only need another 140 points.
Jona wrote:I remember taking everything in part 2 in one combo, but I could well be mistaken, so don't take it for truth.
I'm not sure if it's possible because the only thing that would continue the combo is the Spinneroo, and that is destroyed before you proceed to the Meadowscrews and Slapdashes. There might be an alternative way to do the combo though so I could be wrong too.

Really? Hehe, I found that one pretty easy. If my memory serves me correct, you needed to defeat the Hoodboom JUST before you jump off the cliff. It was pretty tight but I made it within what I consider good time. I struggled massively with the previous combo, though!

-----

@ MandM or anyone else who can help: I've finished part 4 now as well, and I have 65781 points. I've checked your video and I notice you start the scene by hitting Razoff twice nine times. I already have a problem here, because I simply cannot do this... at all. It took twenty restarts before I decided to stop. What's your secret?

Something else interesting: I played around in his mansion for a bit because I got bored so I decided to test the Razoff glitch. The first time, the double glitch occured but the second time nothing. I wonder, how often does the double glitch occur for others?

Xenon: I usually don't have any trouble with the double glitch. The day I finished part 5 it happened on my second attempt. I spent a lot of time there trying to get the triple glitch and there were days where I simply didn't get anything. Maybe it was because I changed the approach when going for the triple glitch. But when I go for the double glitch, no problem.

I don't have any secret when it comes to hitting Razoff in the back. I just send two curved shots at him in quick succession. If you want to avoid these curved shots, you can find a place where you can hit him directly, preferable on the path above the room with the green gem.

In part 2 of TBOM, I actually do take the Spinneroo as the last Hoodlum... and quickly after that the Matuvu, and since combo mode lasts a bit longer it should be possible to reach the yellow gems with the Lockjaw. I always jump upon the mushrooms first and get the Lockjaw there. I completely forgot how I played the combo, but I'm pretty sure it was possible to get everything in one combo there.

@Jona: It would be great if we could find a way to recreate that combo.

I'm having a terrible day with part 3. I would have managed the big combo several times if it wasn't for the idiotic mistakes I continue making (like falling off the bridge that leads to the Hoodblaster and the piggy banks, being too slow to get the red gem on the wooden plattform in combo (that happened twice), getting hit by the Hoodblaster next to the red gem (I don't think I've ever made that mistake) or hitting the Hoodblaster in the back of the final boat instead of the one in the front and then not getting onto the ship as a result). Adding to my abysmal performance, I had a worse quote of the Hoodblaster surviving than usual.

sfn: As one who suffers badly from an extraordinarily low frequency of Hoodblaster survivals I'd like to know, how often does the Hoodblaster survive for you? That is, how many restarts are necessary for you on average to get him alive?

Jona: It would be cool to have a new combo for part 2. Do you remember your score after that part with this combo?
