Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc is for sure my favorite game in the series so far. Hopefully a fabled "Rayman 4" has the limbless legend go back to his 3D roots. I've always just found the 3D entries in the series to be most fun, with better stories, characters, personality, gameplay, etc. Of course though, any Rayman is better than no Rayman.

Ideally, I'd like something closer to Rayman 3 but with the more magical spirit of Rayman 2. As to whether I prefer a shitty Rayman over no Rayman... I'm not so sure.

I'd take another 2D game over nothing, as long as it isn't an endless runner for mobile. Legends and Origins were quite good. Still, 3D Rayman is what I want.

A new 3D game would definitely be ideal, but anything that isn't just another crappy mobile runner would be acceptable as you say. Rayman Mini is a complete joke in my opinion, Apple exclusive and a paid subscription? Great idea yeah...

I personally think Adventures is alright, but Origins and Legends are still way better.

Back to Rayman 3, what did everyone think of the game? Personally it's my favorite in the series.

Hey, the crappy mobile runners are excellent mobile games. They capture the essence of Rayman in a control interface that is suitable for a mobile phone / tablet. Much better in my opinion than trying to force a game designed for a computer/console control scheme onto a touch-based device.

So as long as they are seen as spinoffs, I'm all for them. Obviously, they cannot be relied on to carry the entire weight of the franchise.

I liked Jungle Run, and I guess Fiesta Run should be a decent one too, but they kind of overdid it when they went onto Adventures. Not that it was bad, just that it was like, we already had two runners, so here's another one. It's not so much that the mobile games are bad games, but the issue is that Rayman has been degraded to that and is no longer on the big screen.

As for Rayman 3, I love it. The scoring is nice and gives it some replay ability if you're interested in that, but it also can be come cumbersome at times when you have to keep restarting. I love the game itself though, and the glitches it has like the super jump kind of make the game more fun to go exploring.

Well, I guess the problem is that they do seem to be carrying the entire weight of the franchise right now. Even Mister Dark has returned after over twenty years, in Rayman Mini of all places, which many fans (those without Apple devices) are not even in a position to play. :(

Well, for a start, I notice your score is now right below mine in the HoF :mefiant:

More seriously, I love Rayman 3! The scoring is great, as Steo said, and its worlds are all really interesting. I think in earlier phases of development, there was a much bigger emphasis on lore, but they stripped it down to a relatively simple central storyline around the Hoodlums. The worlds are still full of backstory though, and it gives you more of a chance to use your imagination!

I too like both the mobile runners and the main UbiArt games, but it's just that I'm hoping for more. A bit like the Rabbids, I have nothing against them, but I'd rather see some more Rayman!

The most interesting thing about Rayman 3 for me lately had been just exploring and looking at the subtle differences between versions. It's also interesting that there's a room in the Desert of the Knaaren where you encounter Reflux, and you can reach this room with a super jump, or by using the debug code on the GameCube. I had been messing about in this room for ages only to realise that when you see Reflux, the cutscene takes place in this room.

Is that not the one you fall into as the ground collapses under you?

It is this one, but it's interesting since even though it's a cutscene, the room has collision. I guess it's using 3D models for it though and it's not just playing a video. Still though, it's interesting that you can reach that room in non GameCube versions with a super jump.

Oh yeah, a lot of the cutscene rooms in Rayman 3 don't have collision at all, do they? (Or at least, not when accessed from outside – maybe the game turns it on for cutscenes, like the state-change that occurs in BOM1 when you go into Bégoniax's house – I'm not sure…)

Cut pointed out as well that there's a hole in the ceiling at the top of the tower at the end of DOTK3, which also has collision – DOTK seems to be full of vestiges of spaces that were perhaps to be reachable in normal gameplay at an earlier point in development!

Yeah that entire room has collision for some reason, I reached it with a super jump in other versions too just to test it, and the debug command on GameCube lets you realise that there's collision where the hole in the roof is too. I was trying to get up to where the Knaaren is standing to see if he has collision too, but I never managed to get there since an invisible wall is blocking you from reaching him.

man, i was listenin to the Rayman 3 soundtrack the other day and does anyone else hurt over the fact that we never got Rayman 4? I actually teared up about it a lil bit honestly coz Rayman 3 was one of my most favourite games ever, right behind Spyro

Especially hurts after seeing the amazing environments they showed in the concept art for it

I wasn't really bothered by it myself. These days I think it's funny how much hate Murfy gets for that one line of lies. :P

It's not lies, it's sarcasm, like every other line he has in the game.

It's like at the end of Portal, when GLaDOS sings "this was a triumph, I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS" – clearly it was nothing of the kind and this is just more of her sarcasm, but in verse :hap:

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If you consider Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge, Rayman Raving Rabbids GBA, or Rayman Origins to technically be Rayman 4, then Murfy does see you in Rayman 4.
