DOSBox clearly counts as emulation, dunno what you are on about.
That and the Skype conversation we are having with Omar and LoveMetal was made by me, so... you know. :V
You know how many times people have said "oh deary me, I'm not trying to get early access to something, I really wish to help out!!!" and meant it? Well, at least from my experiences, not a lot. Sorry for not believing every single bullshit random users post on a forum. But you can go and directly complain to Omar or wait for him to show up, really. Surely if he thinks of you as legitimate help, he'll put you in the conversation or something. :'D

OCG, of course it is needed! Else I wouldn't be able to have fun while working on images that are bigger than what my PC can handle. -_-

Thought you were referring to Hackintoshes being emulation. Sorry about that; I misunderstood.

Yeah, but that very obviously still doesn't make you the head of the project. ;)

Your constant reference to me as a "random user" proves that you still haven't read my post. :boon: For fuck's sake, is it so hard to comprehend one sentence? Omar and I are basically friends as well (if you weren't aware, I'm Alex H from the Skype group), so, um... maybe you should stop making dumb assumptions now? Just a suggestion. ;)

That, unfortunately is true. I tend to forget everything I don't really need, want or have to remember VERY easily. Anyway, didn't we have a question lost on the previous page? GG us. :D

Now we're onto insults? OK then. :> Kind of dumb whether a simple argument over whether I should be added to the group escalated to this, but, meh, guess I don't see why I should have expected anything different.

Truner wrote:I wish I was actually judging Hackintosh by its name only. :(
Sadly, that's not the case. I've had several friends using OSX in non-Apple machines and most of them went on to buy Macbooks just because the amount of trouble they had. As much good as it does, with something like emulation, especially on OSX, you simply have to make sure that it runs natively. You had it great for a year, good on you. I also never had a problem with DRM protected Ubisoft games, yet others are talking about how harmful they are and how badly their computers got fucked.
The stability of the Hackintosh doesn't really matter, what matters is whether it works or not, because OS X wasn't built to be flexible. If it works on a Hackintosh, it will work on a pre-built Mac system, and vice-versa.
Truner wrote:Plus, I'm not really taking authority over the project, but allowing everyone in on a chat that is basically about developing the damned thing, is simply not a good idea. For one, the more people we have in there, the more confusing it will get. Debugging/testing results can be sent over PMs, with proper reports and whatnot. Also, this wouldn't be the first time I joined a project and had random people come in to test stuff, only because they wanted access to the newest stuff, even if it barely differs from what's out there already. That's not exactly useful.
Technology has been helping emshomar here and there since it started basically, so you could be a bit more welcoming.

All this arguing is stopping us from discussing a suggestion posted on the previous page: the GOG patch. I would be perfectly happy for a GOG patch, provided it still included Rayman by his Fans.

You mean just fixing the GOG version, rather than just using it as activation? It's useless for me, but some would probably really like it, so I think it'd be cool, if a bit unnecessary.

It would be a patch for it. Dunno if it should include the missing expansion or not. Maybe two different patch? One that includes it and one that just patches up the existing games.

I'm sure it's just a debug message.
It is. I didn't implemented a different JFrame for each os for now. :)
And Ad, java is easy as pie you'll learn quickly. No mallocs, no pointer because fully oop, garbage collector... And I suppose you already know the more advanced notions as polymorphism.

I don't know how GoG version do its job. But technically, a patch is a modification of the program binaries. And this involve advanced reverse-engineering skills, which is not my case, so I don't think I could be useful to this project. Even if these old rayman games are 16-bits programs so it should be a bit easier.

Hi people!
I have to anounce that I don't feel in the position of putting more time an effort to release more future updates for Rayman Optimum. I thought about this a lot, and I want to retire my position as the leader of the project. Seeing that Rayman Optimum is getting more supported by other people, gives me the satisfaction and makes me feel complete. Truner will be put as the leader of this project and sorry again!

Thats too bad :(
I mean I am happy for Truner that he is leader (both of you are good so him being leader means that this project is in good hands) but you don't need to drop out fully.

Well, if you feel it's best, then I'm not going to dissuade you. Though I guess the entirety of the community is forever indebted to you starting this project off.

Oh... Well...
Notifying us that you will not be active as before on this project would have been enough.
Anyway don't worry, I'm pretty sure this project will never die due to its weight and the amount of time you spent on it. :)

Well...

1. guess who was shocked out of his pants this morning, after seeing a message on Skype? :V
2. Omar just made sure that this project never dies. One thing I hate is leaving things unfinished...

Hopefully me being the project leader won't shake things up too much. That said, I'd like to make a tiny amount of shift in the project goal: aside from making Rayman and its expansion packs playable in the BEST. WAY. POSSIBLE. I'd also like to take time and make it feel as official as possible.

So for now, I'll gladly take ideas, no matter what they are for, and some additional help. See, I don't know jack shit about DOSBox and how shaders work with it. I'd like to get a new set of shaders in, but don't know where to get them from. Some of the shaders would be dropped out of the project, as they feel really out of place (thinking about the likes of the Matrix one).

Aside from that, I guess we might need some testers... first things first, we should make sure the Linux side of the project functions well. While I can test on Ubuntu 12.04 and 14.04, I'd rather focus on graphics and project management. As for Mac... if all else fails, I guess we can do some testing on Hackintosh as well, but I'd really prefer legit Macs doing the work. Uh, what else?

I know I really don't have a big say in matters like this, but it would be nice if the source for the installer and the configuation were to be put onto a site like Github so people can contribute to the project, fixing bugs and the like.

Not my call, really, I did not contribute anything to the code, after all. I also don't care about it being open source or not. I'll leave that up to Omar and LoveMetal. (:

I wanted the project to be opensource, but omar didn't. What I will do is to put my own code opensource on bsd license, and omar's one will not be shown.
Another thing is, I don't know a lot 'bout dosbox as well. I should probably learn on the fly... So if someone here have some knowledge on that domain, especially about how shaders work on linux and osx with openglide, it would be the best thing possible to happen atm.

Other thing I wanted to say: in fact in omar release there was a very little amount of hand made binairies. Most of the project is batch scripting, except the configuration tool that is in lua. Which is a good thing, because I can understand quickly how it works and how omar managed the configuration. But even if in first release I'll probably integrate less than 50% of these scripts to the java launcher and I'll convert those remaining to linux bash, I would like in the final version to completly avoid these scripts. :)

Technically we have a perfectly functional release out there. I don't think we need to rush this release out, so you should take your time and make the configurator the way you want it to.
